Blahut DorisBLAHUT, Doris  -  With sadness, our family announces the peaceful passing of our cherished mom, Doris Blahut, at Trillium Health, McCall Centre, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 97.

Loving wife of the late William Blahut.

Proud mother of John (Teresa) Blahut and Patricia Morgan; and "Baba" of Camille Morgan; and great-grandmother to Nissa.

Predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Chomniak; her brothers, Walter, Nicholas, and Morris; and her sister, Jennie Zurba; and survived by her brother, Oles (Jackie) Chomniak.

Doris grew up in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur), Ontario.

She later came to Toronto on vacation, where she met our father. As a newly married couple they lived on Wright Avenue and moved to College Street, where their son, John, was born. Later moved to Beresford Avenue, in the village of Swansea, where their daughter, Patricia, was born.

Mom always said, "Now we are millionaires, we have a girl and boy." After sixteen years, another move to her dream home on Hardwick Court in Etobicoke. Here she grew a garden that was, quite frankly, the most beautiful in the neighbourhood. At the same time, working the midnight shift at Christie's Biscuits.

In retirement, she volunteered her cooking skills with the ladies in the St. Demetrius Church Kitchen. The next move came forty-eight years later to Credit River Retirement Residence in Streetsville, where she applied her skills at puzzle solving, bingo and crocheting.
