Metcalfe JimMETCALFE, James R. 'Jim' - (April 1, 1942 – October 7, 2018) -

Passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on October 7, 2018.

Beloved husband of Glenda (nee Mercer). Loving father of Jeffrey (Kim) and Jennifer (Steve Carruthers) and step-father of Joel (Shannon) and Shane (deceased) (Terese) Crombie.

Proud papa of Cody, Renee, Toree, Dayton, Darby, Taylor, Jenna and Olivia.

Lovingly remembered by his sisters Betty Ann Elms (Paul) and Rosemarie Metcalfe and brother Lincoln (Barb).

Jim was highly regarded by his extended family and friends from all walks of life.

Jim spent his growing up years in Black Creek in Prince Edward County, and later moved to Oshawa where he worked for General Motors for 36 years. Always known for his strong work ethic, he often had a job that required help from family members, nephews, children or wife. But he always was there as well to lend a hand to help family and friends with their projects.

Jim was an avid skier most of his adult life and enjoyed cycling, sailing and travelling in his retirement. He was a true gentleman and loyal friend.

A celebration of life will be held at the Port Hope Lions Recreation Centre, 29 Thomas Street, Port Hope, Saturday November 3rd from 1 to 4 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (Myeloma Research Fund) or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted with Allison funeral home.
