RENZ, Ruth  - Ruth Renz passed away after a difficult struggle with cancer on Friday November 2, 2018 at Port Perry Hospital in her 89th year.

Her beloved husband Josef had predeceased her some 12 years ago.

As was her nature, Ruth carried on as the resilient, self reliant, selfless and generous person that she was and continued to be a shining example and source of joy for her family.

Her sons, Juergen, Peter and Rolf and daughters in law Sharon, Caryn and Peter’s lovely friend Lisa will miss her greatly.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Kirstin, Shelby, Elise, Michelle and Sonja and five great grandchildren.

She was, sadly, predeceased by her brother Walter Spath and his spouse Manda, her sister Inge and her husband Kurt and will be greatly missed by her brother in law Rolf Steinbrun  and her nephews Michael, Andreas and their families who reside in Germany.

Ruth shared a special bond with her nephew Dieter, born on the same day as her and the only son of her sister Inge, and enjoyed a close bond with his wife Barbara and Dieter’s children Jennifer and Kurt. Ruth would want to extend her loving thanks for everyone who took the time to care for her during these difficult times including her sons, especially Juergen and Peter, Sharon, Caryn and Lisa and everyone who made sure to visit, including all of the grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Ken Fraser and Caryn’s sister Collen Phoenix and friends from the German Club.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at the Club Loreley, 389 Dean Avenue, Oshawa on Saturday December 1, 2018 from 2p.m. to 6p.m. and all are welcome to celebrate her life and share memories.

Our sincere thanks to Dr. Curtis Hadden, homecare nurse Linda and the nurses and staff at Port Perry Hospital for taking such excellent care of her.

For those who would wish to make donations in Ruth’s name we would ask that donations in favour of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation and the Local Humane Society be considered.
