VANHAVERBEKE, Laura Irma (nee Vandepoele) - Of Newcastle.  Born on August 28, 1922. Passed away on May 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Loving wife of the late Remi M. Vanhaverbeke (1976).

Dear mother of James (Elise) of Hastings, Edmond (Sylvia) of Newcastle, and Linda Pleasance (John) of Bowmanville.

Grandmother of Donna Vanhaverbeke (Mark Loster) and the late Kenneth James Vanhaverbeke (1993); Theresa Vanhaverbeke (Jeff Cryderman), Jeff Vanhaverbeke (Laurel), Chris Vanhaverbeke (Stephanie Butler), and Steven; Remi Pleasance (Vanessa Ogden), and Renée Carman (Vernor).

Great-grandmother of Aidan, Rhiannon, Laura; Quinn, Cole, Sage; Jacob, Evan, Charlie; Jack, Samuel, Maxwell; Julian; Joshua, Benjamin and Cassandra and Great Great Grandmother of Kieran.

Sister of Albert Vandepoele (Frances). Sister in law of Laura Vandepoele, Betty Vandepoele and Margaret Vandepoele. Predeceased by siblings Noel Vandepoele, Anthony Vandepoele, Martha Vertente, Marie Huyge, Andy Vandepoele, Jean Vandepoele and Louis Vandepoele, all of Delhi Region.

Laura was a member of the CWL for 66 years and long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi, Newcastle; long-time volunteer at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, St. Vincent’s Kitchen, Oshawa, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Bereaved Families of Ontario.

Friends may call at the Newcastle Funeral Home, on Friday, May 24th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held at ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Newcastle, on Saturday, May 25th at 10am, immediately followed by eulogies and a reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis of Assisi Mortgage Fund or Memorial Hospital Foundation Bowmanville, Emergency Dept. would be appreciated by Laura’s family.
