Diedrich PeterDIEDRICH, Peter Klaus Diedrich   -  June 30, 1941 – September 13, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the Diedrich family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Peter "Pete" Diedrich at Scarborough Centenary Hospital on Monday September 13, 2021 at the age of 80.

Dearly beloved husband to Maxine (nee. Hoy) for 56 wonderful years.

Cherished father to Steven (Theresa) and Christopher (Kim).

Proud Opa to Zachary and Jake.  Dear brother to Horst and Margot.

Peter will be greatly missed by his many extended family and friends in Scarborough, ON, Germany, and the UK.

For 17 years, Peter was the painter and decorator for the Royal Bank of Canada head office in Toronto.

When the Metro Toronto Convention Centre opened in 1984, they offered Peter a job on their maintenance team.

He eagerly accepted this position where he was well recognized for his hard work, receiving an Employee of the Year award. Peter stayed with the Metro Toronto Convention Centre until his retirement in 2009.

From 1973-1986 Peter enjoyed spending his "free time" coaching youth soccer and winning many trophies with his teams in Canada and the United States, and finally, retiring from coaching with great success in the National Soccer League.  From 1990 to 2004, Peter participated in canine sports (Agility, Flyball and Frisbee) with his dogs Brenna, and Annie.

With his wife, Maxine, Peter began training dogs to compete in Agility trials.

As a team the couple also helped to develop Zippity-Do-Dogs Entertainment Group.

The group performed many shows and at exhibitions across southern Ontario.

If you wish, memorial donations in Peter's honour may be made to: The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the OVC Pet Trust.

Arrangements entrusted to THE OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME.
