HUGHES, William David Hughes   -  1931 - 2022

In his 92nd year, showing relentless courage and faith, William David Hughes of Ajax, Canada passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on the morning of Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Loving father (Trini-DAD) of Michael William Hughes (Jennifer Lynn Hughes) and Debra Ann Hughes (Dexter Quarless).

Beloved grandfather of Jessica Hughes, Joshua Quarless and Madeleine Hughes.

Predeceased by his father, Edwin Arthur and mother, May Madeline.

Cherished cousin, father, grandfather, and friend to many who loved him very much.

Bill, an only child, was born in Trinidad on September 16, 1931 and moved to Montreal, Canada in the late 60’s where he married and taught grade 6 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Elementary School.

Bill’s happiest moments were spent with his children and grandchildren, and he loved to talk on the phone with his family in Trinidad, Barbados, North Carolina, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Bill loved studying History and Genealogy; he built special memories with his family by sharing family history, travelling to the Caribbean and Japan, as well as talking about his faith.

Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax. The funeral will follow immediately at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Covenant House Toronto would be appreciated  by the family.
