Fuke JoannaFUKE, Ivanka "Joanna" Fuke  -

December 25, 1955 - March 7, 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Ivanka on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Beloved sister of Christine (Daniel) and John (Oksana) and “Teta” to the late Michelle (Rob), Stephen (Kyra), Timothy, Taissa, Meghan and Rachel.

She will be missed by extended family and many close friends in Canada, the Unites States and Ukraine.

Ivanka had a successful career in marketing beginning in 1978 after graduating from Queen’s University. She worked in brand and product management for many years before going to work with creative agencies where her career culminated in senior executive roles in direct and relationship marketing.

An avid gardener, baker and hostess-extraordinaire, Ivanka took great pride in helping her family and friends.

She was always available to provide sound, thoughtful advice and was ready with a hearty laugh and a helping hand, whether that be to paint, provide decorating advice or to organize bake sales and fundraisers.

She remained active in the Ukrainian community throughout her life.

She was an active volunteer for many years with the Ukrainian Youth Association (Oshawa Branch) and more recently with the Vesnivka Choir, in which she sang for over 30 years.

In recent years, Ivanka spent as much time as possible at her cottage near Parry Sound. Her love of the lake brought her great peace and pleasure and it is there that she often hosted friends and family with her beloved cats Puffin and Pogo.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Michael’s Palliative Care team who helped make Ivanka’s final days peaceful and comfortable. She will be missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel located at 2357 Bloor St. W. in Toronto. Visitation will take place on March 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm (Panahyda/Service at 7:30 pm).  The funeral will be held on March 22 at 11:00 am at Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4 Bellwoods Avenue, Toronto.
