Harvard HannaHANNA, Harvard "Armour" Hanna  -  Passed away peacefully on Thursday April 27th, 2023 at the age of 102.

Born on the family farm in Manvers Twp. near Janetville, Ont., Armour and the family moved around during the Depression and finally arrived in Oshawa.

During WWII Armour enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and because of his high marks and good flying record Flight Lieutenant Hanna was made a flight instructor, mostly in Dunnville, Ont.

After the war, Armour and his wife Florence moved into their Oshawa home in 1949, where he would live until 2022.

Armour became a sales clerk until a severe car accident changed his career path.

At age 53 he became a Certified General Accountant and began working for the City of Oshawa.

A temporary position opened up at the Oshawa Airport and Armour would rise to become the permanent Airport Manager, from which he would retire.

During his life Armour was on many committees, organizations, and boards. He was very generous with both his time and funds, helping numerous organizations with yearly donations.

A true gentleman, generous, compassionate, helpful and loving, no matter the difficulties that came along he was always cheerful and optimistic, even to his final days at the age of almost 103.

His gentle sense of humour was loved by everyone. He was predeceased many years ago by his wife Florence.

While he had no direct descendants, he will be remembered by three generations of nieces, nephews and their progeny, including two more "Armour"s, plus devoted "daughters" who between them did everything to make his later years comfortable with their love and attention. While he lived on his own, he was never alone. We'd like to especially thank the staff at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, who loved him too and cared for him tremendously.

Visitation will be held Friday May 5th from 6 – 8 pm at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 6th at 11 am at Kingsview United Church (505 Adelaide Ave. E., Oshawa). Donations in Armour's memory to Fairview Lodge Residential Council would be greatly appreciated.
