WILKINSON, John Malcolm Wilkinson -
September 7, 1927 – June 24, 2023

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of John Wilkinson at the age of 95.

Beloved husband to Sylvia for 62 years.

Cherished father of Ian (Carolyn) Wilkinson, Sandra (Morgan) McRae, and Trudi Wilkinson (predeceased).

Proud Grandad to Josh (Kayla), Kara (Anthony), Megan, Meadow, and Zach. Great Grandad to Riley, Callum, Ainsley, Colt and Graison. Proud uncle to his nieces and nephews in England and Australia. Predeceased by his beloved brother Ivor and their parents Una Moyna (Malcolm) and Tom Wilkinson.

John was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England and grew up enjoying the British countryside. He studied to be an engineer-machinist and worked in Leeds, where he met Sylvia.

They came to Canada with their young children and settled in Oshawa where they were blessed with a wonderful friend group.

Upon retirement, John and Sylvia moved to The Fairways in Mississauga to be close to the grandkids. John also enjoyed volunteering with the Literacy Council of Canada where he helped many new Canadians learn to read and write in English.
John was a man of many talents – photographer, crosswords, dad jokes, charcoal BBQ expert and handyman extraordinaire - he could fix or build anything.

He was a true Englishman who loved tea and biscuits, Yorkshire puddings and the occasional pint.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 1st from 1pm-4pm at the Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road in Whitby, Ontario with family speeches at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be much appreciated.
