TUNKL, Gwendolyn Ruthella Tunkl -

March 23, 1930 - July 12, 2023

We are sad to announce that Ruth passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 in her 94th year.

She knew she was safe in God’s arms and would meet her Saviour on that glorious morning when we will all be together again.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Sandra, nephews Jeff (Linda) and Rod, grand nieces Natasha (Kenio) & Lateisha and great nephew Marlo & great neice Kiana.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband John.

Ruth was born March 23, 1930 in Lyndhurst, Ontario and grew up in Sweets Corners, Ontario.

Later, she became a school teacher and then went into nursing at the Kingston General Hospital in Kingston where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.  When she met John she moved to Toronto.  They married and moved to British Columbia where Ruth nursed at the Vancouver General Hospital for many years.  Ruth provided her nursing skills to hospitals in Kingston, Oshawa, Toronto, Williams Lake and Vancouver.

Later, Ruth and John returned to Oshawa, Ontario to be closer to family.

Ruth lived many years as a very strong woman and we want to thank Dr.  Nigel Jagan and staff for their wonderful care of her over all those years!

The family would also like to thank Wynfield Chartwell Long Term Care staff, 3rd floor, for all the wonderful, loving care and good times they gave Ruth!

Ruth’s family is following her wishes of not having a funeral.  Ruth will be cremated and placed beside her husband until our Saviour comes and we’ll all be together again!

Donations may be forwarded to SDA Community Services, 1170 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 1H9 if so desired.
