Hill EdithHILL, Edith Gertrude "Trudy" (White) Hill    -

 April 26, 1930 - June 29, 2023

Edith Gertrude Hill (White), known fondly as Trudy, was born on April 26, 1930, in Oshawa, ON.

Daughter of the late James Charles (Charlie) Reginald White and the late Mabel Gertrude White (Stevens), Trudy had two siblings: Rev Charles Edward (Ed) White (Dayna) and the late Madeline Lillian Lovelock (Bill).

At the age of 93, Trudy peacefully passed away on June 29, 2023, at The Village of Taunton Mills; her life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Trudy was the beloved wife of the late Edward (Ed) Emerson Hill. Together, they created countless cherished memories and raised a family with three children – Marilyn Armstrong (Rob), Douglas Hill, and Steven Hill.

While Trudy was predeceased by her youngest son, Steve, she will be deeply missed by her children and family. Trudy was adored by her grandchildren Jeffery Armstrong, Stuart Armstrong, Tanya Howells, Justine Morning, and Sarah Hill-Stapley, all of whom continue to carry on her legacy of love and strength.

Trudy’s great-grandchildren Rosie Armstrong, Chianne Howells, Brodie Howells, Aaron Howells, and Liliana Morning were a source of joy in Trudy’s life.

Trudy was highly intelligent, graduating top of her school from OCVI.  After high school and after graduating from Oshawa General Hospital, School of Nursing, Trudy pursued a career in nursing, dedicating herself to caring for others. Following her nursing career, Trudy became a stay-at-home mom; caring for her family.

Trudy had a special talent for playing the piano effortlessly; reading the keys as if they were pages in a book. In addition to her piano skills, Trudy had a diverse range of interests. She was an avid baseball fan and had her own unique way of scoring the MLB games.

She enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and other brain-stimulating games. Trudy also found joy in lawn bowling and spent many hours knitting beautiful sweaters, toques, and mittens.

She also had a love for baking, creating mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies and Canada Day themed, strawberry angel food cakes that left her family craving for more.

Curling was one of Trudy's passions - she excelled as a Skip, winning numerous Bonspiels and earning respect as a valued member of the curling community. Her and Ed's passion for curling extended beyond the rink; they even strategized with salt and pepper shakers at the family dinner table, creating a playful and competitive atmosphere that brought laughter to their loved ones.

Trudy was a social butterfly and actively involved in her community.  She was a member of a social bridge club where each member took turns hosting the fun.

With her competitive spirit, creative flair, and dry sense of humor, Trudy brightened the lives of those around her.

She and Ed cherished their time together with the entire family at the cottage, creating lasting memories and indulging in Trudy's delectable homemade treats, such as strawberry jam, macaroni salad, and the famous family "Moo Burgers."

Trudy will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit, warm heart, and the love she shared with her family and friends.

Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
