MATHEOU, Antonakis (Tony) Matheou - Of Port Perry, passed away suddenly in Cyprus at the age of 78, on September 25th, 2023.
He was born on April 16th, 1945, in Cyprus.
Tony immigrated to Canada in 1967, where he met his wife Elpida (Hope).
They married in 1968 and had two sons, Andrew and George.
He loved working with his hands and was a skilled welder.
In the late 1970s, he and his partners founded Sunderland Tank Limited. Sunderland Tank manufactured bulk tankers for the transportation of milk. The company operated for over 25 years.
Tony is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Hope, his children, Andrew (Soni) and George (Elena), and his two grandchildren, Anthony and Victoria. In his family, Tony instilled the values of hard work, problem-solving, taking care of others, and enjoying the absolute best food.
He was always lending a helping hand to his family, friends, and others in the community.
In honour of Tony, a private service is taking place.
