Malbon SarahMALBON, Sarah Wilma Malbon   -

May 27, 1938 - October 15, 2023

Sarah was a firecracker.  She could dance up a storm, read books like the wind and, yes, enjoyed the occasional glass of white wine in the summertime. (Okay, and the winter too.)

A child of Scottish immigrants, Wilma grew up in the wilds of Cabbagetown in the 1940s and 50s.

One day she met a skinny young guy named Ted and they became sweethearts.

But soon enough she realized who he really was — the love of her life.

Together they had three wonderful children, Joy, Mark and Daniel, and she was so immensely proud of each of them.

Wilma first became a mother at age 19. Think about that. How on earth did she manage?!

Well, she found a way. Because she was loving, tender, strong and smart. Always.

Wilma’s late life passions for knitting, cooking Christmas treats, and watching classic old films was topped only by her never-ending love for Boston Terriers.

She loved Bostons so much sometimes she even allowed them to have different names.

For many years a Bell Canada long distance operator, Wilma stayed friends with her Bell colleagues long into her retirement, just as she made many new ones with the Red Hats and with her lovely neighbours in Oshawa.

But the times of her life would surely be those long summer evenings out on the back deck. There they were, the five Malbons, with as many friends and family who could keep up, telling stories, cracking jokes and singing the night away, together.
All happy as could be.
Wilma surely wouldn’t have asked for anything more.

When Ted died in 2004, it left a such hole in Wilma’s heart. But she was surrounded by family and friends who saw her through.

And now it is she who is so dearly missed.

Born May 27, 1938, Wilma died Oct 15, 2023.  Daughter to George and Sarah Forgie. Sister to George, Betty, Rosella and Martin.

In lieu of flowers Wilma’s children would be grateful for a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Please come and share a toast in Wilma’s name at the  ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King St.E. Oshawa on Saturday, October 21 from 2pm to 5pm.
