CLARK, Douglas William Clark  -  Passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2023, with his wife and daughters by his side.

He was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer in February, and underwent hormone treatment, chemotherapy, and radiation until his prognosis became imminently terminal.

Loving husband to Peggy, father to Alex and Jackie (Jordan), brother to Linda (Brian), and brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle to many. He’s predeceased by his twin sister Dale (2015).

He was born in Toronto in 1952, attended the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with a degree in Journalism, then returned to Toronto and eventually Pickering for his adult life.

He had a dedicated 40-year career in the financial securities industry, working in IT and Operations at IBM, Scotia, Dundee and Echelon before celebrating retirement as a senior Business Analyst in 2018.

Doug might scoff at all the pretty adjectives - but we’ll write them anyways. He was a generous and faithful friend. He spent much of the last four decades caring fiercely for his family. He showed bravery and grace in the final months, weeks and days of his life. Gruff exterior some days, but a golden heart that shone through. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In memory of Doug, his family asks that donations be made to the Central East Regional Cancer Program - where he received treatment at R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa.

His family sends warm gratitude to all who cared for him there, and at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital.

Alternative would be to Cancer Canada, Princess Margaret hospital or many of the many excellent cancer research funding groups.

Donations may also be made to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society to honour Doug’s love for animals, including Rosie, Kallie and those who predeceased him, Nessie, Mimo, Katie and Oscar.

Doug’s family is hoping you will join them at his “Celebration of Life” to be held at his favourite pub on Nov 18 from 2-6 pm. Address as follows: The Stone Corner, 1900 Dixie Road, Pickering, Ontario

Casual dress requested. Doug was a big fan of Hawaiian shirts or sports jerseys and jeans so come suitably attired.
