Bray BarbaraBRAY, Barbara Olivia (nee RIFF)  -  It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Bray on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in her 94th year.

Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Olivia Riff (nee Oakes), and husband of 43 years Lawrence.

Dearly loved mother of Janna (Brian Lowe), Jodie (Michael Peace), and Christopher (Laura).

Cherished grandmother to Braydon (Patricia), Ashleigh (Adam Wilkinson), Alexandria (Jeff Warrack), Kaileigh (Francis Pelland), Michaela, and Rory.

Proud great-grandmother to Adeline.

Predeceased by brother Edwin Riff and sister-in-law Jenny.

Much loved sister-in-law to Norma, Patricia, Rodney, Gary, and their spouses. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Beloved companion of Bill Newby.

Barbara was born in Melbourne, Quebec, on June 25, 1930, and moved to Toronto’s High Park area following her marriage to Lawrence in 1950, where she worked for the Bank of Montreal in downtown Toronto.

Barbara and Lawrence eventually settled in Oshawa where Barbara worked for Statistics Canada and was a proud member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church and the Bowmanville Curling Club.

Barbara loved to laugh, dance, play cards, paint, and spend time with her family, especially at Braywood, the cottage on Esson Lake she and Lawrence built together.

Visitation will be held at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, December 14, 2023, starting at 10 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.

A reception at the funeral home will follow the service. Interment Thornton Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, please consider a donation in Barbara’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
