BREEN, Marguerite (nee McNEIL)   -  Born February 18, 1936, in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and passed away on February 16, 2024, two days before her 88th birthday, at Cedarcroft Retirement Home.

Marg was married to Jack R. Breen, who has since passed April 26, 2023.

Marg leaves behind her three children, Lloyd and his wife, Chris; Deborah and her husband, Kevin Warnes; and Jackie and her husband, John Aldridge.

Marg and Jack brought their family up in West Shore, Pickering, where they decided to extend their family by becoming foster parents.

She helped Jack in his career as a Toronto Fire Fighter and at retirement his rank was Toronto District Chief.

They were married on November 20, 1954, for 69 years.

She had patience with children. Her love for children was immense, any child she would talk to and play with. She had a tough life in Cape Breton, her mother, Sadie, was similar to mom, as a devout Roman Catholic.

She was very loving, patient and easy going, but her father was a hardcore alcoholic because at only nine, he had to raise a family of nine. Mom inherited her father's natural intelligence.

She was a figuring fool. She loved bingo, horse races, cards, dice and baseball. She was fun, had a great sense of humour, a very relaxed person who very much loved children.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, Ontario, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Chapel service at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
