BOUWMEISTER, Hank  -  It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Hendrikus (Hank) Gerardus Bouwmeister on February 23rd, 2024 at the age of 92, after a short but brave battle with cancer.

He passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 63 years at his side.

Hank Bouwmeister was born in Vorden, The Netherlands on July 7, 1931 to Maria and Gerard Bouwmeister. Nelly Bouwmeister (nee Pennings) was a devoted wife to Hank Bouwmeister, also born and raised in The Netherlands, and would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this October.

He was a caring father to Ron (Andrea), Martin (Michelle), Sharon (Liberal) and grandfather to Natasha (Mike), Jessica, Brandon (Rhiannon), Kelsey (Gavin), Christine, Danielle, Justin, and great grandfather to Alexander, Chase and Reid.

He also leaves his siblings Grace, Gerard, Mary, John and Bill and joins Bernie, Anne, and Theo. All with a very close bond over many years that was instilled amongst his many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He leaves as well his lifelong friend of over 80 years, Joe Huinink, and joins his many friends and family to enjoy a game of horseshoes and get-togethers.

Hank came to Canada in 1957 from The Netherlands, joined by his family to start a new life. He shortly met his bride Nelly and were married in 1960 soon after settling in Pickering, where they remained in the same home over the years.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Rd., Pickering Village on Thursday February 29th 2024 from 4pm to 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, March 1st at 11 am at Holy Redeemer Church, 789 Eyer Drive, Pickering.
