McRae DianeMcRAE, Diane Sandra (Nee Fitzsimmons) -

APRIL 3, 1941 – FEBRUARY 26, 2024

It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that the family of Diane McRae announce her passing at her home in Oshawa on February 26, 2024 just shy of her 83rd birthday.

Predeceased by her parents, George and Eleanor Fitzsimmons as well as her beloved husband Burton McRae (1995).

She is survived by her loving sons’ David (Kimberley) and Timothy along with her adored Grandchildren Katherine (Timothy) and Christopher as well as her cherished Great Grandchildren MacKenzie and Evelyn.

Survived also by her sister Joan (Walter Warden) her brothers George(Valerie) and Randy (Debbie) as well as her brother-in-law Gordon McRae. Predeceased by her sister Nancy.

Diane will also be dearly missed by her many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She will also be missed by her friends at Camelot.

Diane was born in Toronto on April 3, 1941 and spent her youth growing up there graduating from Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute. She always wanted to earn a degree but was so busy raising 2 boys in sports and extracurricular activities she had to postpone her education until later in life.

She eventually returned to University and earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto.

Diane and Burton were married in 1959 and after a short stay in Elliot Lake (Burton was transferred there by his employer Falconbridge) they moved to Scarborough to raise their family on Brimorton Dr. Eventually she moved to Oshawa to be closer to her family.

One of her greatest pleasures was spending time at the cottage in her beloved Hekkla in both summer and winter. There she was surrounded by family and friends and was fully engaged in organizing and participating in community activities. Above all, she cherished having family and friends always close to her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced followed by Internment at her final resting place beside Burton in Hekkla.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
