CROSBY, Mary Bernice Crosby  -

1927 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Bernice “Bunny” Crosby of Pickering, Ontario, on February 27, 2024.

Mary Bernice was born in Ottawa in 1927 to Richard and Mary Ellen Steele.

She married Kenneth R. Crosby of Markham in 1951 and had four children – Doug (married to Helen), Debbie (married to Stuart), Sandy, and Dan (married to Olimpia), the young family enjoying the life of the military for many years, living on 2 different continents, 3 different countries, and 4 different provinces.

Bunny and Kenny were married for 50 years, before Kenny’s passing in 2002. Mary Bernice always embraced the role of Grandma – indeed, almost everyone called her grandma – to Debbie’s 3 daughters, Jennifer, Tammy, and Susan; Doug’s two sons, Michael and Jonathan; Sandy’s son, Jesse; and Dan’s children, Kevin, Danielle, and Mary-Grace.

She also had 6 great-grandchildren.

Mary Bernice grew up during the depression, lived through World War 2, married an Officer in Nuclear Defense, watched a moon landing, managed a school cafeteria, played lots of Bingo, and at the age of 96 loved the independence of her own home, followed her favourite sports, baked her famous brownies, and watched Engelbert Humperdinck videos on her Ipad.

She will be missed.
