It is with great sadness that we announce her death in Oshawa, Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at the age of 92 years surrounded by family.

Mabel fought a long and very courageous fight against cancer, right until the very end.

Loving wife of James Owen (pre-deceased), for greater than 65 years.

Daughter of the late Earl and Nina Patterson of Lee Valley.

Devoted mother to Robert (Janet) of Toronto, Brian (Wilma) of Port Dover, Dianna of Oshawa, Teresa (Rick) of Oshawa, proud grandmother to Jason, Jennifer and Tiffany (Justin), and Aaron (pre-deceased) and great-grandmother to Remi and Maddie who brought her great joy.

Mabel is survived by her younger brother and kindred spirit, Wally (Sandra) of North Bay and her sister-in-law, Marie McWhitter of Vancouver.  She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

Mabel will be remembered for her caring spirit for her neighbours and friends, her amazing talents with her arts and crafts, her fashionista style, her flare for creating awesome gardens and above all else, her unwavering commitment and love for her family.

We would like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hanna and Marla, Parkwood Pharmacy, Dr. Kopolovic and her team at Durham Region Cancer Care and Dr. Ricciuto and staff at LHO.  Your support and care for our mother is greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, Mabel and her family would appreciate donations in her name, to the Cancer Society to continue to find the cure and fight the strong fight against cancer.
