Shaughnessy JoyceSHAUGHNESSY, Joyce  - Called home to be with her loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Joyce Shaughnessy passed away peacefully with family by her side at Amica Bayview Gardens on Tuesday November 21, 2017 at age 84.

Joyce grew up in Mumbles, Swansea, Wales and attended nursing training at Swansea Hospital as a registered nurse and midwife. Joyce was a strong woman of faith with a beautiful smile. The pretty nurse met a dashing engineer, Reginald, for a first date at Worms Head, Rhossili Bay on the Gower Peninsula near Swansea.

There, over 60 years ago, the Atlantic gales ignited a spark of love that enveloped a family on both sides of the ocean.

Joyce is now reunited with her beloved husband Reg.

Daughter of Amy and Albert Kenneth Crayford, daughter-in-law law of Leslie and Kathleen Shaughnessy, sister of John Crayford (all predeceased), and sister-in-law of Maria Crayford.

Beloved mother of Kathleen Amy (predeceased), Allison (Michael) Scanlan, Andrew (Andrea Feltham) Shaughnessy, and Michael (Elizabeth) Shaughnessy. Special mom to Brenda (Miron) Singer. Nana to Julie (Shawn) Walsh, Matthew and Stephen Scanlan, Rhys and Alexandra and Brooke Shaughnessy, Great-Nana to Lincoln and Michael Walsh. Beloved Aunt to Tim (Wendy) Crayford, Anne (Mark) Gillingham, Brian Shaughnessy, Michael (Sheila) Swanson and many dear nieces and nephews abroad.

Dear friend to many in the UK and Canada (Sault Ste. Marie as well as the GTA) too numerous to mention. Special thanks to Keith MacIssac who treated her as a second mom.

With the village of support from Amica Bayview Gardens, CanDo Support Services, NYGH Supportive Cardiology Team and CCAC RNP Anita Park, Mom was able to enjoy the comfort and peace of her own home in her final hours.

The family is extremely grateful.

Family and friends will be received at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax 905-428-8488 on Tuesday December 12, 2017 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday December 13, 2017 from 12-2 pm.

Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Burial to take place at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens, 541 Taunton Rd, W, Ajax (entrance to cemetery is off Church St).

Should family or friends so desire, donations to the North York General Hospital Foundation 416.756.6000 (for the benefit of the ICU or Coronary Care Unit) would be greatly appreciated.

On-line condolences may be placed at  mceachniefuneral.ca.
