GARVIE, William “Bill”  - Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, a short time after his 90th birthday.

Beloved husband of 66 years to Helen and father to Aileen (late Jack) of Port Perry, ON, Joanne (Jeff) of Victoria, BC and Brian (Susan) of Kelowna, BC.

He was a loving grandfather to Jannah (Gary), Mark (Lauren), Maria, Heather (Landon), Nicole and Carolyn.

He was also very proud to have seven great grandchildren. Bill was born on December 25, 1927 in Broxburn, West Lothian, Scotland.

After emigrating to Canada in April 1960, Bill and Helen settled in Cambridge, ON. Bill worked as a carpenter and as a construction supervisor. In 1970, the family moved to Markham, ON where Bill was employed by CIBC as a Premises Manager until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, Bill and Helen moved to White Rock, BC, where they remained until 2011.

They moved to Port Perry and lived very contentedly at Port Perry Villa until moving next door to Port Perry Place. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humour, his integrity, interest and interaction with those of all ages, and his faith and love of the Lord.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 319 Queen Street, Port Perry. A Celebration of Bill’s life will commence at 11 am, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Parkinson Society of Durham Region.
