ELLIOTT, Isabelle (Fliz) Shirley  - Age 92, died on February 6, 2018 at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Ontario with family at her side.

She was born on August 8, 1925 in Bowmanville, Ontario to Kathleen and Edwin Naylor.

She married Charles Rainforth Elliott on July 5, 1957. Fliz will be sadly missed by her sons Charles Elliott (Catherine), James Elliott (Dorothy) and Richard Elliott (Mary), stepdaughter Margaret Hatcher (John) and her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Fliz was predeceased by her beloved husband Charlie in 1994, by her sister Anne Bridgland (Jack) in 2004, and by her stepdaughter Isabelle Cureton (Harry) in 2009.

For Fliz life was an amazing adventure to be enjoyed to its fullest. She served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II. After the war, she headed to California with two girlfriends and found work at MGM in Hollywood.

Fliz enjoyed visiting far away places throughout her life and travelled well into her later years, visiting the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2017.

Fliz was always game for an exciting experience, whether it be a flight in a Harvard Trainer for her 80th birthday, a helicopter ride to view the fjords of New Zealand, or stopping for a camel ride on the way to the Dead Sea.

She lived many places over the course of her life. After marrying, Fliz and Charlie first made their home in Toronto, then built a new home in an apple orchard in Bowmanville, and then retired to the cottage on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka. She loved to swim in the lake and then sit on the dock in the late afternoon and visit with family and friends. Fliz always made sure that family, friends and strangers felt welcome in her home.

Wherever she went, Fliz made people feel special and loved. We will always remember her beautiful smile that brightened the lives of everyone around her.

Funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 11 Temperance Street, Bowmanville on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
