BURNETT, Greta Anne (nee LaFreniere) - Greta passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, February 23, 2018.
Predeceased by her husband Eric James Burnett and parents Oswald (Ozzie) and Aline (Helen) LaFreniere.
She will be missed by daughters Lee Yaciuk (Steve) and Mikki Dormer (Chris) and her beloved grandchildren who were a source of joy; Morgan, Jack, Liam and Abbey.
Dear sister of Debbie LaFreniere (Ron Dojack) and Venora Galon and Aunty Pita to DeNeige Dojack, Brian Crawford and Gimalle Crawford.
Greta was born September 11, 1938 in Portage La Prairie Manitoba. She started dancing at age 7 and made her first professional appearance at the Portage fair and was performing in vaudeville theatres in Winnipeg by the age of 12.
She met Eric through dance when she was 15, and they were married in 1958.
Greta became affiliated with Penguin Dance Studio when she stepped in as a substitute teacher. Within a few years, the studio became her life. It was an outlet for her creativity and a source of joy in the children.
Greta was well loved by many friends who will always remember the wonderful parties she loved to hold. Entertaining was something she took great pleasure in.
Cremation has taken place and as per her wishes there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
