VAN CAMP, Doreen, B.A., M.Ed., M.Div. - Of Blackstock, Ontario, passed away peacefully in Uxbridge Cottage Hospital following a brief illness, in her 85th year, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Beloved sister of Richard Van Camp (Ruby deceased) and loving Aunt to Louise Carroll (Jeff), Lois McLeod (Glenn), Lawrence Van Camp (Jan), Brian Van Camp (deceased) (Maggie) and Jill Davidson (Michael).

Survived by many cousins and her grand nieces and nephews: Anna and Sophie; Cheryl, Beverly & Shaun; Nate, Matt & Kate; Anthony & Corey; Jonah & Gwendolyn. Doreen was the daughter of Stanford and Margaret Van Camp.

A great love for learning and books led her to U of T. After her B.A. and M.Ed. she taught school in Brooklin, at a girls’ school in India as a missionary for the United Church and later in Toronto and Fenelon Falls. She returned to Blackstock as Clerk for Cartwright Township, then worked for the Township of Scugog and also wrote a history book about Cartwright.

She received her M.Div. from Emmanuel College and was called to be a minister with the United Church of Canada serving in Saskatchewan and Ontario before retiring in Blackstock and turning her creativity to pottery. Special thanks to Patt Johnston for care and support.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11a.m. with visitation one hour before, at Blackstock United Church with Rev. Jennifer Uhryniw officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Camp Quin-Mo-Lac or the general fund of Blackstock United Church.
