BOWERS, Roy F. Bowers, “Bud” - 87, died peacefully on May 31, 2018 with his loving wife of “just shy of” 65 years, Claire, at his side.
A private family service officiated by Reverend Jack Roberts will be held on Wednesday, June 6 followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 – 3 pm at the home of his daughter Kim for all extended family and friends.
Roy was born in Toronto on February 27, 1931.
Roy’s artistic talent and creativity was recognized as a young boy and he was given the opportunity of a lifetime to attend Danforth Technical School to develop those skills that provided him a lifetime of adventures in his working career in advertising and graphic arts, the highlight as Director of Graphic Arts at the Toronto Zoo.
Roy was married to the love of his life Margaret Claire Bailey and was looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2018.
Roy loved his family and is survived by and greatly missed by his wife Claire, children Kenneth (friend Marilyn), Kimberley (partner Ray) and Scott (wife Lisa). His wonderful grandchildren, Holly (Luke), Kurtis (Jenny), Lindsay (Andrew), Thomas (Mariangel) and Brenda (Daniel) love him to the moon and back. Roy will be remembered always by his brother Harry, his many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his siblings George, Anne, Evelyn, Winifred, Maurice and Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, a donation made in Roy’s name to the Toronto Zoo would be a wonderful tribute.
