The citizens of Durham Region are invited to sign a Guest Book of Condolence for
Constable John Zivcic,
who was killed while responding to a call in the line of duty.
The guest book will be available at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby from Tuesday, December 4th until Friday, December 13, 2013 between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm daily.
The book will then for forwarded to Toronto Police Services Chief Bill Blair.
The public will have a chance to pay their respects during a memorial service and procession to take place Monday, December 9th at the Toronto Congress Centre,north building at 650 Dixon Rd. It is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Arnold was a WW11 Veteran with the Irish Regiment of Canada.
He proudly served 5 years in the European Campaign. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 for 48 years. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Theresa for 72 years.
Loving father of Catherine (Michael). Predeceased by sons Ernie and Richard. Proud “Papa” of 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. A devoted family man Arnold always enjoyed his sports (hockey and CFL football) and of course, summers at the cottage in Gravenhurst. Those who knew Arny will remember him for his great sense of humour, and his easy going manner – he will be truly missed.

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Mary on Sunday December 8th, at Sunnycrest Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her late husband Steve (1996). Survived by her daughter Irene Lewis (Dick) of Brockville, Elsie Swerdfeger (Wayne) of Courtice, and Terry Bogucki (Irene) of Oshawa, as well her brother Steve Bobyk (Florence) of Toronto. Mary was the eldest of seven children born to Matthew and Ann Bobyk (nee: Sas). She is predeceased by her brothers; John, Mike, Peter, Bill, and sister; Kay (Latta).
Born in Montreal on December 15, 1917, Mary spent her childhood growing up in Sydney, Nova Scotia where she attended Sacred Heart Academy. Then moving to Creighton Mines, Ontario, where she met and married Joe Poloz who passed away in a mining accident.
Mary then moved to Oshawa, Ontario, and worked in the sewing department of General Motors until she met Steve, they married in 1948.
Mary is a proud Baba of Nicholas and Kristen Swerdfeger, Jennifer and Stephanie Bogucki.
A faithful parishioner of St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church in Oshawa and long life member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League in Oshawa. She received the Ontario Volunteer Service award for 50+ years of service to her Church and the LVIV hall.
Mary was shown compassion and care by the devoted and caring staff at Sunnycrest Nursing Home for 5 years, and truly enjoyed attending numerous activities planned by the activity staff, especially the church services every Sunday afternoon.

She was a dental assistant in Oshawa for many years and later a GM employee.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Emerson Chant, and by her brother, Harry Lawrence, both former GM employees. She is survived by her loving daughter Patricia (Gail) Jardine (Nee McNicol) and son-in-law, David Jardine, both from Bragg Creek, Alberta, her loving grandson Eric Henry Lawrence Jardine of Kingston, Ontario, and her sister-in-law, Violet Lawrence.

Herman came to Canada from Germany at the age of 24 and worked as a lumberjack.
Herman was very proud of his German heritage. He was a long time employee of General Motors. Herman enjoyed spending his time between Donna, Texas and Orono, ON. He was famous for his Rouladen. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
