Peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, March 31, 2012.

Beloved husband of the late Marrigje (Mary).

Loving father of Gerrit, John & Gail, Hendrika & William MacLean and Robert & Terry-Lynn. Dear Opa of Christine, Terry, Sandra, Michael, Adam, Cindy, Melissa, Jake, Anthony, Grant and Hailey and great-Opa of 14 great-grandchildren.

Cherished brother of Pete Van Londen. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives both in Canada and in the Netherlands.

Vanderkooi_JohnAfter a long and courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully in his 80th year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

John was the loving husband of Ieka for 52 years.

He will be greatly missed by his children Rick (Cathy), Roger (Jennifer), Doug (Renita) and Paul. He will forever be remembered by his grandchildren Christopher, Lisa (Robert), Sydney, Jason (Leanne), Kyle †, Jenita, Kaitlyn (Zack), Allyson (Adrian), Meagan, Keenan and great-grandchildren Brennan, Addyson, Avery, Audrey and Briella. He is survived by his brothers Roel, George and Henry. John was known for his gentle manner and kind spirit.

After 37 years of working at General Motors, John enjoyed his retired years travelling and volunteering.

Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Wednesday April 4, 2012 from 7-9 pm.

Devoted grandmother of Michael (Peri), Tanya (Jason), Virginia (Stephen), Anna (Owen), Graig (Amanda), Carl (Christa), Justin, Amanda, Carolyn, Stephanie, Jacob, Samantha, Matthew, Brianne, Kirk, Tiffany, Kyle, and Cameron.  Great-Grandma of Bryant, Jacob, Levi, Mya, Ella, Berkleigh, Brayden, & Caylee.

Barb was a loving wife and Mom who was wholeheartedly committed to God, her family and her church; and notably, she was an actively-devoted member of her community.  Barb’s perseverance was exemplified as she coped with a chronic lung disease over the years. 

The Evans family would like to express their deepest gratitude to their extended family, friends and neighbours who have upheld them with love & support.

GOARD, Richard Franklin -

Passed peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Orillia Hospital after suffering a stroke.

Dick was in his 96th year and predeceased by his first wife Laurean (nee Kellett) and brother Harvey.

Richard will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Doreen, son Bev (Betty), grandchildren Frank (Barb), Jason (Christine) and great-grandchildren Tom, Bridget, Emilie and Ryan Goard. Step-father to Garry (Kathy), Dennis (Denise), John (Brenda) Gray. Step-grandfather to Robert, Brittany, Shawn, Jeff, Cory and Hannah.

Richard was the longtime Principal of the Beaverton Public School for 26 years and a consummate educator. Richard will forever be remembered by his family, friends, neighbors and all the students he touched as a person passionate about both history and world events.

In his latter years he loved to read his morning newspaper from which he would choose something interesting happening in the world and then "travel" to explore it on the internet.

Fueled with some interesting news of the world, Richard would head out on his scooter to join the day's lively discussions with his friends at the local coffee shop.

Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 523 Simcoe Street, Beaverton, on Tuesday, April 3rd at 2:30 p.m.

Eric was the eldest son of the late Walter and Linda Keith of Moncton, N.B.  Eric was born in Havelock, N.B. and was the devoted husband of the late Edith Cavell Keith (nee Morris).

He was a wonderful and caring father to his six children, Brian (Mary Anne), Sandra Barkwell (Brian), Bonnie (Mike), Beverly Rivers (Dave), David (Marie) and Daniel (Debbie). Greatly loved Grandad of Michelle Sanders (Roger), Eric Palmer (Amy), Amanda Rae (Nick), Jessica Corner (Brad), Kim Herrick (Dan), Mark, Ashley, Andrew, Leah and Joel. A special Great Grandad of Bradley, Katie, Kylie, Allie, Nixon, Nate and Roydon.

Eric will be missed by his sisters Wanita, Lorraine, Elenor, the late Barbara, his brother Carl, sister-in-law Flo and special friend Sandie Harris.

She was the daughter of the late Ralph Hachey and the late Helen (Michael) MacDonald. Dear wife of Jim McGreevy and loving mother of Kathryn Chopik; Michelle (Norm) Leblanc; Johanna (Ray) Dickson and Nancy (Paolo) Accettone.

Beloved Nana to Michael (Danielle) Chopik; Spencer and Avery Dickson; Brianna and Evah Leblanc. Jan is also survived by her dearly loved Nate (Pat), Natalie, Noah and Adam.

Cherished sister of Faye (Michael) Rich and brother Ken (Diane) Hachey, nieces Karen, Kelly, Leah, nephews Michael and Kenneth.

She is the dearest niece/“daughter” of Geraldine and the late Ralph Nichols; cousins/“sibling” to Patsy, Ginny, Steve and Nancy.

Jan was a graduate of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital and worked in various areas of nursing with her main love being pediatrics.

SCHONBERGER, Margaret -

Margret Hermina (van Bergen) Schonberger, born January 3, 1935, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2012, after a year-long battle with cancer.

At the time of her passing, she was with her children and their families in her own little apartment.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Frances Usher, son-in-law Steven Usher, daughter Margie Potter and son-in-law John Potter, plus her five grand children, Cydney and Emily Potter, Alastair, Leslie and Jillian Usher.

Margaret was predeceased by her sisters Toni Boksem of Holland, and Rikki Esch of Kitchener, as well as her second husband Harry Grub and will be interred with him at Memory Gardens in Breslau.

Born in Arnhem, Holland, she and her entire family survived the war.  While very proud of her Dutch heritage, Margaret immigrated to Canada in 1957, living first in Kirkland Lake and then settling in Kingston for many years.

A staunch Toronto Maple Leafs fan she was proud of her hockey-playing grandchildren. She and Harry lived in Kitchener for 13 years.

She spent her last years in Whitby with her friends on Green Street. She will be dearly missed.

BOOKER, Percy Ken -

After a valiant fight against prostate cancer, Ken’s battle ended peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ken leaves behind his wife and life long companion, Ethel, his daughter Allison, and sons Russell and Scott.

He was grand-dad to four grandchildren; Danielle, Samuel, Owen and Andrew. Beloved brother to Bob and David and sister Noel, predeceased by his sisters Betty, Shirley and brother Ron, and parents Leroy and Elizabeth.

Ken joined the RCMP in 1957 and retired from the force after serving 25 years. He then went on to work for Ward Air, the Toronto Stock Exchange, Investment Dealers Association, and Ontario Securities Commission, retiring again in 2007.

In August 2003, he received the devastating cancer news. Ken fought back with passion, pride and humour. Rather than letting the diagnosis get him down, he used it as an opportunity to increase awareness to others.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1st from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax (Pickering Village), 905-428-8488.

She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd; sons Shane (Carol) of Mineville, NS, Stephen (Corinne) of Bowmanville, ON, daughter Susan Smith (Graham Neville) Woodville, ON; grandchildren Todd and Adam (Leah McCormick) Smith, Rachel and Dylan Irvine; and great-granddaughter Lily Smith.

She will be missed by sisters Shirley Crago, Lorna Lavigne, Sharon Crawford and Elaine (Dale) Haines; her many nieces and nephews and her little dog Bailey.

Muriel was a long-time employee of General Motors and very active at the Oshawa Skeet and Gun Club.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care Muriel was given by Bayshore Nursing and Marnwood Retirement Home.  A special thanks to Renata and Theresa who knew just what she and we needed.

After living in poor health for several months, our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa.

Born in Holland, Alice is predeceased by her husband Jerry in 1975, and by her son Michael, March 2012.  She was also predeceased by her parents, and her siblings.

Alice has four other children, Herman of Fenelon Falls, Teresa of Newmarket, Jerry of Bobcaygeon, and Joe of Campbellford and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. McIntosh and all the nursing and care staff at Hillsdale Estates for her excellent care and love.

She will be missed for her beautiful smile, her love and her twinkling blue eyes.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

After a courageous battle against cancer, Bob (Robert) passed peacefully with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa, on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in his 74th year.

He was married 52 years to his wife Muriel (née Gillie). He will be sadly missed by his children Rhonda and husband John Pottery and Scott Hooper and wife Cynthia (née Kerr).

Loving grandpa to Kevin, Jaclyn, Kurtis, Kolten and great-grandpa to Andrea, Ethan, Alex and Claira.

He will be greatly missed by sister Joyce and her husband Milton Wilson, brother Glen and his wife Rose Hooper along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Lorraine Fudge (nee Greves) announces her passing on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in her 83rd year.

Predeceased by her husband Jack. Lorraine will be dearly missed by her step-son Jack and his wife Viki. She was a devoted Nana to Jennifer and her husband James Trebble as well as to her cherished great-grandchildren Caitlyn and Thomas Trebble.

She will be sorely missed by sisters Marion Beharrell (Bob), and Joan Greves. Lorraine will be fondly remembered by six nephews (Elliott, Michael and David Beharrell and Michael, Gregory and Kelly Taylor and one very special niece, Suzanne (Beharrell) McConkey.

The family would like to thank the health care staff in the critical care unit for their care and attention to Lorraine in her last days.

Mel passed away March 26, 2012, three months short of his 95th birthday, at Providence Health Care Centre from complications of a massive stroke.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Harriet Grace (nee Brown) Tripp, his sister Muriel Grace Tripp and stepmother Meda Pethick Tripp.

Fondly remembered by close family and friends.

His passion was racing homing pigeons for over 75 years.
