Dear brother of Ilene and her husband Jerry McCrea, and Stanley and his wife June.

Doug will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held at the Wilmot Creek Wheelhouse Community Centre, 1 Wheelhouse Dr., Newcastle on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 12:30 p.m.

Cremation at Bowmanville Crematorium.

Gene Sandison 71, of Edmonton Alberta, formerly of Ashburn Ontario, passed away suddenly in Edmonton, Alberta on May 7, 2014.

Gene is survived by his daughter Christine Sandison Sterling (Dave), son Jason Sandison (Nicole) and his brothers Kenneth (Linda) and Guy (Jane) together with extended family.

Gene was predeceased by his parents James and Marion Sandison and his brother Douglas.

Gene is also survived by his loving partner and best friend of 17 years Nadine Oster and her children Michael, David, Dennis, Richard and extended family.

A memorial service was held in Edmonton, Alberta on May 15, 2014.

Interment to take place in Ontario at a later date.

Dearly loved husband of Blanche. Dear father of Julie Daoust (Yves), Robert, Martin, Duncan (Denise), Pamela Van Dyk (Peter) and the late Linda Ward. Stepfather of Jeff Thomson (Kim) and the late Jill Thomson.

Predeceased by his sister Marion and brother Newton ("Bill").

Grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of three. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law B.J. Richmond (Bob), nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Born in Manchester, England, John was an amateur boxer and mechanic. In 1957 he immigrated to Canada with his first wife Pauline, eventually settling in Markham, Ontario. He managed an Esso service station and later established Ward Bros. Motors and Continental Cars, all with brother Bill. For the past 30 years he worked in commercial real estate sales.

He was active in Kiwanis, loved being on the golf course, enjoyed classical music and ballroom dancing and was an animal lover. He will be remembered as an "eternal optimist," also for his friendly and giving nature, love of family, and wonderful sense of humour.

Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby (905-655-3662), 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday, July 18th and from 2 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th.

A service to celebrate a life well lived will be held in the Barnes Chapel on Saturday, July 19th at 3 p.m., with reception to follow.

In memory of John, donations may be made to the R. S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre, Oshawa, or Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary, Pickering.

Cherished Papa to Hailey, Haylee, Dallas, Leigha. Survived by siblings Marilyn (Johnny), Ronnie, and Monica. Pre-deceased by siblings Jimmy, Jack, Glenn, Louise, Tommy, Billy, Lorraine and Georgina. Devoted son-in-law to John and Mavis. Brother in law to Gilbert, Helen, Debbie, Sandra (Dan), Wayne (Karen), Johnny (Lillian), Gary (Jackie), David (Bernie).

Gord will be sadly missed by all of his friends and extended family.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE. 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby, ON. (N. of Hwy 2) Friday July 11th from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm.

Funeral service will take place Saturday July 12th at 2:30 pm with one hour visitation prior.

Millie will be lovingly remembered by her beloved cousins Georgina Glos, Walter Kolon, her family, friends and her beloved chocolate lab Reese.

Mason_ShirleyShirley passed away peacefully at Wynfield Nursing Home – Oshawa, with her beloved family at her side on Sunday July 6, 2014 at the age of 76.

Cherished mother of Carl (Suzanne), Paul, and Perry (Carol). Loving Grandma of Rebecca, Shannon, Brooke, Jorgia, and Arllis.

She was predeceased by her parents Howard and Jean Hoskin, sister Anna-Marie Greentree, brothers Gordon and Gary Hoskin, sister-in-law Joan Hoskin (Metcalfe) and brother-in-law Douglas Greentree, and her former spouse, Elgin Mason.

Shirley was one of ten children and will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Kenneth (Mary) Hoskin, Betty (Charlie Durno) Greentree, Jack (Carol) Hoskin, Donna (Bryan) Smith, Joanne Harper, Joe (Lois) Hoskin, sister-in-law Linda Hoskin and brother-in-law Neil Greentree. She will also be missed by her uncle Doug (Marilyn) Love and aunt Muriel Hoskin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed her family and many friends. During her working days, Shirley worked in school cafeterias where she was appreciated and loved by the many students that visited the lunch rooms. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time at the family cottage at Crowe Lake.

Shirley has shown amazing strength as a cancer survivor over the past twelve years coping with the after effects of her many treatments.

Special thanks to the caring staff at The Wynfield (Oshawa) who have been Shirley’s caregivers for the past eight years.

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, ON (905-432-8484), on Saturday, July 12th, 2014 from 1pm - 2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday July 5th, 2014 at the age of 75 years. 

Doreen, beloved wife of Robert. 

Loving mother of Greg (Kim), Trevor and Troy.  Cherished grandmother of Krista, Jake, Brandon and Brittney.  Dear sister of Ernie (Mona) Stoneman,  Ruby (Charles) Hiltz, Don (Diane) Stoneman and the late Edna Brear. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends may call at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (N of Hwy #2) 905 443-3376 for memorial visitation on Thursday July 10th 2014 from 1:30 pm until time of memorial service in our Chapel at 2:20 pm 

Interment of Doreen’s cremated remains to follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 in his 71st year.

Beloved husband of Susan (nee McKnight) for 37 years.  Loving father of Aleisha, Vanessa and her husband Sean Hopman. Cherished grampa of Adrianna and Denzil.

Dear brother of Peter (predeceased) and his wife Eleanor, Joe and his wife Vivian, Rosemarie and her husband Joe.

Vince will be sadly missed by family, friends and his walking buddy Haley.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, July 9th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. with prayers at 7:15 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church (690 King Street East, Oshawa) on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the CHARITY of your choice.

Loving husband of Cora Kinney.  Father of Tammy St. Martin and her husband Reg, Clinton Kinney and his wife Joy and Lissa Poirier and her husband Al.

Will also be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held in Newcastle, on Saturday, July 12th.

Peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 88th year.

Predeceased by his loving wife Olga (June 2010).

Loving father of Lynn Jones (Ross) and David Smith (Kathy). Cherished Puppy of Leah, Aaron, Jordan and Jenna. Great-grandfather of Makayla and Alyssa. Sam is predeceased by his parents, Hubert and Elsie, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne and Steve.

Sam’s kind spirit and great sense of humour will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his passion and participation in hockey, softball, golf and curling.

In fact, he was inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame and made an Honourary Life Member of the Oshawa Curling Club.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff of 7C at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for taking care of Sam and his family.

Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).

As per Sam’s wishes, cremation and a private family service will take place.
