The family announces the death of Lynden Wayne Robinson of Whitby, Ontario at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from Multiple Myeloma.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on 6th of January, 1937, he was the second of four children born to Lynden Claude and Jean (nee Sopp) Robinson. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Ruth Block and Marilyn Robinson and is survived by his brother Barry (Elaine) Robinson of Belleville, Ontario.
Also surviving him are his nieces Beryl Ann (Terry) Rasmussen and Heather (David) Day and their families of Regina, Saskatchewan, a nephew Brian Robinson of Trenton, Ontario and a niece Susan (David) Fitzsimmons and family of Bermuda.
Wayne came to Toronto in 1962 and worked at Old City Hall as a court reporter, Supervisor of Court Reporters and Manager of Court Services before his retirement in June 1993 from the Ministry of the Attorney General.
He was a church musician for most of his life as a pianist, organist, harpist, singer and director of choirs. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oshawa.
Wayne was a dearly loved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his wife Colleen (nee Morrison), children Emily Kristofferson of Whitby, Christian Robinson and his wife Julie Cornwall of Sudbury and grandchildren Emerson Elliot Jacob Kristofferson and Linden Wayne Robinson.

Survived by his beloved wife Lois Polak, his children Michael (April), John (Lisa), Jean, Andrew (Rebecca), his step-children Jennifer, Alexandra (Jeff), Jamie (the late Barbara), 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his sister Helene.
He will be lovingly remembered by Henry and Lois’ many nieces and nephews. Henry graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto 5T3.
He was appointed Queen’s Council 12 years after he graduated, which was the earliest that this prestigious distinction could be conferred.
Henry was the founding partner of Polak, McKay and Hawkshaw.
In 2007, he was granted a life membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada in recognition of completing more than 50 years in his chosen profession.
Henry served as Reeve for the Town of Ajax during a time of significant expansion for the municipality. Other public service included serving as a reserve officer in the Ontario Regiment, a member and Chairman of the Ajax Public School Board, a member of the Ontario County Board of Education, Chairman of the Ajax Hydro Commission, President of the Ajax Pickering United Way, President of the Ontario County Bar Association, Chairman of the Durham Region Children’s Aid Society, Trustee and Board Member of Pickering Village United Church.
In addition, Henry was the founding Chairman of the Durham Region District Health Council and the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital Community Advisory Board. He was an honourary life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a past District Secretary of District Number 8 of the Kinsmen Clubs of Canada.
Henry Polak was devoted to his family, was a respected leader in the legal community and was dedicated to both his long-time home of Ajax and the broader community. Henry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
