KRUSZELNICKA, Maria -
It is with great sadness we say a loving farewell to our beloved Mama, Babcia and Prababcia Marysia, who passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on April 3, 2013 in her 103rd year.
Born on July 16th, 1910 in Lwow, Poland. At the age of four, she suffered the loss of her mother Anastazja who died of the Spanish Flu. She survived two World Wars, and lived through some of the greatest changes in the history of civilization.
Married to Oktawian Kruszelnicki on September 8, 1932. In 1946, Maria and Otek with their children Krysia and Jacek, were forced to leave their beloved city of Lwow, to finally settle in Gdansk-Oliwa. Her love of fashion and exquisite sewing skills helped support the family through the hard post war years.
She started traveling the world at the age of 55, crossed Russia, through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. Always ready for another adventure, Maria spent several months in Nigeria, West Africa, and visited various parts of Spain several times. She loved New York and felt right at home there. After several visits to Canada, in 1989 Maria joined her son and daughter in Oshawa, Ontario.
Maria was a person who kept constantly busy: sewing, making delicious meals, enjoying long walks and taking English classes. Marysia was never afraid to take on a challenge, whether it be traveling to distant places or learning how to use a computer at the age of 89. She was a wonderful, kind, and warm person with a youthful spirit and an ability to appreciate even the smallest wonders of this world.
Predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, she will be greatly missed by her daughter Krystyna Kaczynska, her son, Jacek Kruszelnicki their respective spouses Konrad and Jolanta, her grandchildren, Magda Wilde (Jerzy), Tomasz Kruszelnicki (Danuta), and Michal Kruszelnicki (Maja), as well as her great grandchildren Maks, Marysia and Mikolaj Wilde, Tomaszek and Matthew Kruszelnicki, Natalie and Emily Ilasz Kruszlnicki, as well as many nieces and nephews in Europe.
Visitation will be at the DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, On L1H 7K4, (south side of Taunton Rd., one block east of Thornton Rd.) on Saturday April 13th at 1:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Palliative Care Unit at the Lakeridge Health Oshawa would be greatly appreciated.
