CHEUNG, Wai-Chun Ng - Mrs Wai-Chun Cheung, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, February 7, 2019, at the Mackenzie Health hospital from a catastrophic stroke sustained two days earlier.
She was surrounded by her loving family and the strength of family members from afar.
She was born on August 18, 1926 in Shunde Daileng 順德大良, province of Guangdong廣東 in China. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. At 17, she moved to Macau, married at 22, and moved to Hong Kong in 1966. She became a landed immigrant in May 1993 and become a Canadian citizen in 1997. Her entire family now resides in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
Preceded in passing by husband of 50 years Sheung-Chor Cheung.
Wai-Chun is survived by two sons Kwok-Yin John Cheung and wife Stella Yu, Kwok-Bor Cyril Cheung and wife Betty Tse, and daughter Siu-Ling Caroline Cheung and husband John Bernacki (JB); grandchildren Kenneth Cheung and wife Adelaine Lim, Cynthia Cheung and husband Mitch Ellis, Chris Cheung and Janet Cheung, and great grandchildren Nathan Ellis and Catelyn Ellis.
Wai-Chun was a strong, vibrant, energetic and intelligent woman who was the heart of the family and led by example in sharing, giving and forgiving. Her kindness, wittiness and sense of humour touched all those around her, and in turn was loved by many who shared her path.
Her passion for food and enjoying life to the fullest is part of her legacy that has certainly been passed on to the next and future generations.
Wai-Chun donated to charities regularly and was a monthly donor to the Heart and Stroke Research Fund. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimer Society.
Friends and family will be received at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on Wednesday, February 13th from 10 - 11 a.m, followed by a time of family reflections at 11 a.m.
