LECLAIRE, Alfred - (1931 - 2019) - Peacefully in the afternoon of Saturday, February 9, 2019 with his loving family by his side, Alfred passed away quietly at home.
He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years Margot, his loving son Dirk (Sean) and cherished daughter Joanne (Paul). Adored Grandpa of Alexander and Jack.
He'll be missed by many friends and relatives near and far.
Alfred was kind, caring, gentle, honest, hardworking, feisty, funny and most importantly, a provider to his family to the very end.
In Alfred's early life he survived WWII as a child and started working at the age of 14 to help provide for his family. He became a Master Baker and emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1954. He met the love of his life in 1956, married in 1958, and two children followed thereafter.
As a Master Baker he worked in many locations throughout Ontario, until he settled with the TTC in the mid-1970s and worked as a driver for 24 years. Alfred worked tirelessly for his family. He loved interacting with the public and made fast friends with his regular riders.
He was always social and outgoing with friends and neighbours. He maintained contact with his TTC buddies for 20 years after his retirement with regular lunch dates. He was a skilled carpenter and handyman of all trades. He loved nature and the outdoors. He was loyal, dependable and trustworthy to the end. Alfred will be missed immeasurably.
