In addition to raising her family, Helen also had a long and rewarding career as school Librarian at both Barton and Westdale secondary schools in Hamilton, from 1963 to 1992.
She had a real love for live theatre, regularly attending shows at Stratford, Shaw, Toronto and Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, and enjoyed exposing her grandchildren to many highly acclaimed plays. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Elizabeth Lyle Auxiliary, and also enjoyed attending the Dundas Valley School of Art.
A true, life-time cottager, Helen spent her childhood summers at the family 'farm' on Lake Ontario near Winona, and later at the Belmont House on Lake Joseph. However, her favourite place since 1946 has always been the cottage at Barlochan on Lake Muskoka, where each summer produced wonderful new memories of boating, swimming and 'four-o'clock-on-the- dock' with family and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. R. Gupka and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Dr. V. Khan and Linda, the ladies from Bartimaeus and the wonderful staff and volunteers at The Carpenter Hospice.
On Sunday, March 25, friends of Helen and friends of the family are invited to join us for a memorial service at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club (232 Golf Links Road, Ancaster, Ont., L9G 2N5) to remember Helen.
If you have memories of Helen which you'd like to share with the family, please send them to 300 Plains Road West, Suite 208, Burlington, Ont. L7T 02A, or to
