It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dear mother, Brone, on July 2, 2015 peacefully at home in Hamilton.

Brone is predeceased by her husband, Jonas, and sister, Helena Richters (Andrejs).

She is survived by her sisters, Anastasia Kairiss (Albins, deceased) and Konstance Skidra (Viesturs), her three children, Sigita Roy (Philip), Peter (Louisa) and Irena. Brone was also the proud, loving grandmother of Laura (betrothed to Kyle Pastor), Alexandra and Jonas.

Brone was born in Sakstagals, Latvia and emigrated after WWII to Canada with her parents, Tekla and Kazimirs Bekers, and her three sisters, settling in Hamilton where she met and married Jonas where they lived and raised their three children.

Brone will be sadly missed by all. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and a gentle, kind friend to all who knew her.

The family would like to express a special gratitude to Dr. Jean Mullens and nurses Melissa and Laura for their special care, support and friendship.

Funeral arrangements have been made with CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, ON  and respects can be paid on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. Prayers at 3 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church (50 Brucedale Avenue East) on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. with an interment to follow.

After a courageous battle, on July 2, 2015 in her home with family at her side, in her 80th year.

Loving wife of 60 years to Maurice. Treasured and devoted mother to Judy, Stephen (Brenda) and Tina (Don).  Cherished grandma of Jennifer, Stephen, Adam, Jessica, Brandon and Tyler.

Special thanks are extended to Janet, as well as all the nurses from CCAC for their compassionate care.

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a family gathering will be held at a future date.

Passed away suddenly at Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday July 2, 2015.

Beloved husband of the late Joana (Nicholas) Rosso (2010).

Dearly loved brother of Philip (the late Marie) Rosso and Teresa (the late Michael) Catti. Adored uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rosso and his brother Philip were the proprietors of Central Hardware in Thorold for many years, and later joined the Home Hardware family of retail stores. He'd been a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church and was a generous contributor to many worthy causes and charities. He was also a Canadian veteran of World War II.

Arrangements entrusted with Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, Thorold. The Rite of Entombment will follow in Fonthill.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Peace Church would be appreciated by his family.

Loving and caring daughter of the late Nugent and Jean Bush (nee Beckwith). Survived by brothers Norman and Roy and nephews Rick, Kevin and Paul.

December 19, 1955 - July 1, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Gary, son of Joseph and Alice Ivanski, after his lengthy battle with AML Leukemia and Myelofibrosis.  Gary fought a great fight for several years but it was now time for him to rest.

Loving husband of Di Liu and devoted father of Adam and Joseph.

Former husband of Donna Kowal of Montreal. Dear brother of Mark (Heidi) and Cindy (Hatem). He will also be missed by his niece Julie, nephews Omar and Elliot, favourite cousin Doreen, colleagues and many friends and family worldwide.

Gary worked with locomotive maintenance, repair, overhaul and service contract management, with his start being in Montreal (1974) at CN Rail thanks so much to his Uncle Gerry. His technical expertise and passion to travel led him to live and work overseas under many different flags for close to twenty years.

Gary lived in Tanzania, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, China and lastly Egypt. Gary always felt so blessed and privileged to work for General Electric Canada for over 25 years and to live and fulfil his career dreams.

During his five year assignment in Kenya he was blessed by the Lord and received His Revelation which Gary believed was the greatest gift of his life. Gary was baptized in Nairobi in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held at DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME - "ANCASTER CHAPEL", 378 Wilson Street East, Ancaster, ON on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 12 to 1:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the chapel, with interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juravinski Hospital for the professional and passionate care received from Dr. Brian Leber and the medical staff.

Beloved mom of Cathy (Joe) Chaves and Gary (Marion) McDonald. Proud nana to Michelle (Andrew) Colton, Kevin and Stephanie Hall, Shelby and Evelyn McDonald, Adrian and Adam Fucile. Loving great-nana to Zackary, Lucas, and Alexander Colton and Nicholas Hall.

Anne is survived by her sister Virginia (Willie) Baron and sister-in-laws Elsie and Wilma Wiwchar. Anne will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A special thank-you to the wonderful nurses and volunteers at the Stedman Hospice.

Friends will be recieved at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford, ON on Friday 7 - 9 P.M. and Saturday 10 - 11 A.M.. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 4th, 2015 at 11 A.M. in the chapel. Cremation to follow.

PROHAMMER, Sister Teresa School Sister of Notre Dame -

Died at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ontario on July 1, 2015 in her 61st year as a School Sister of Notre Dame.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Anna (Fackelmann) Prohammer, her sister Barbara Koch and brother Josef (in childhood).

Lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community and her sisters Eva Lutsch, Theresia Goetz, Maria Urtheil, Rosalie Jaekl, Hedwig Prohammer and brothers Michael, Josef, John and Martin and nieces and nephews.

Sister Teresa was born in Rumania. During WW II when she was in her teen years, her family fled to Austria. As a young adult she immigrated to Hamilton where she met the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the same religious congregation which she had entered in Rumania.

In 1952 she again joined the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Waterdown and began her studies leading to Teacher's College. She taught at St. Helen's, Hamilton, St. James, Oakville and St. Mary's, Kitchener.

In 1964 she went to La Paz, Bolivia where she continued in education both as teacher and school administrator. While in Bolivia, Sister Teresa experienced firsthand the need for medical care, especially for children. In 1972 Sister Teresa returned to Hamilton to attain her R.N. Diploma at St. Joseph's Nursing School.

In 1975 she went back to La Paz where she was in charge of a dispensary for the poor until 1980. From 1981 to 1986 Sister Teresa was treasurer for SSND houses in England. Then, back to nursing, she worked in the Motherhouse infirmary in Waterdown for nine years as an assistant and supervisor. Since she was multi-lingual she was invited to assist in the SSND Generalate in Rome from 1996 - 2002.

Following a stroke in 2005, Sister Teresa moved to Waterdown. Generosity, compassion and spirit of service to others were the hallmarks of Sister Teresa.

Visitors will be received at Notre Dame Convent on Friday, July 3 (today) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Prayer service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Convent Chapel. Interment.

Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, on Wednesday, July 1st, 2015, in her 72nd year.

At Kay's request cremation has already taken place and a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Stedman Community Hospice – Hankinson House on Tuesday June 30th at the age of 87. Josephine Veronica Camilleri, beloved wife of the late Donald Devereux (1982).

Loving mother of Dennis (Carmen) Devereux of Copetown, Bonnie (Dan) Reid of Annan, Ont., daughter-in-law Pearl Morgan, California, USA., and pre-deceased by her son Franklin (1969). Treasured grandmother of Franca (Bob), Jamie (Melissa), and Joseph (Lindsay). Cherished great-grandmother of Kelton, Dakota, Brody, Taylor, Lucien, and Reegan.

Also lovingly missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Josie traveled for many years both with her dear friend of 50 years Lucille Gefucia, and sister-in-law Gladys Huffman. She was an active volunteer with the Red Cross for over 35 years. She loved to play golf, euchre, and bowling. A wonderful baker for all the family to enjoy.

Kind, gracious, a respectful beautiful lady.

Family and friends will be received at McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Rd. N., Brantford, ON on Wednesday July 8th 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Josie’s life will be held in our chapel on Thursday July 9th 2015  at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Mike Bennett will officiate. Interment.

Peacefully at the Stedman Community Hospice on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at age 89 years, John Hogewoning went to be home with his Lord and Saviour.

Beloved husband for 53 years of the late Willy Catharina (nee Glasbergen). Much loved father of John and his wife Marlene,  Judy Vandermark and her husband Jacob, and Paul and his wife Pauline. Devoted Opa to Michael and his wife Sandi, Christina (Harry), Anna (Chris), John and his wife Amanda, Nicholas, Scott (Camille), and Laura and her husband Trevor. Great-Opa to Isaac and Samuel Hogewoning; Geordie, Ebba, and Anne Vandermark.

Dear brother-in-law of Coby and Bert Mulder of St. George and Cory and John Huber of Switzerland.  Predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Hogewoning was the founder of Hogewoning Toyota.  He had been a member of the Grand River Kiwanis Club and Probus Club.  John was also a founding member of First Christian Reformed Church of Brantford, which became Hope Christian Reformed Church. 

The family expresses sincere  thanks to the staff of the Stedman Community Hospice and the Staff and Management of Seasons Retirement Residence for their care and support.

Suddenly on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, Donna James passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 78.

Loving wife of the late Victor Sr. Dear mother of Colleen (George) Lacey, Leah (Paul) Bell, the late Victor Jr., and Ruth (Bill) Wartlick. Cherished Nan of 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She will also be missed by her brother Rob (Denise) Cook, as well as her sisters-in-law and other family and friends.

Ruth passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Residence in Hamilton on June 29, 2015, in her 91st year.

She was the beloved wife of the Late Earle Cavanagh (June 1991).

She was predeceased by her cherished daughter Karen (April 1982), her dear grandson Scott (November 2005), and her siblings Betty, Jean, and Jack.

She is remembered with love and gratitude by her children Kirk (Deirdre), Heather (Brian), Lynne Palmer (Bill), and Barry "Bear" (Janis); her grandchildren Jamie, Warren (Michael), Tamara, Dan, Matthew, Amy, Daniel, Jason, and Mike; and great grandchildren Trinity, Sylus, Ben, Logan, and Cadence.

She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a loving caregiver to foster children Sandra "Sandy", Roy, Bonnie, Virginia "Ginny", Edward "Teddy" , John "Barry", and Albert "Buddy".

During the 60's she was an employee of Simpson-Sears. Ruth was an expert seamstress and knitter and enjoyed many other textile arts. She was a skillful home manager and an avid reader and loved dancing and singing.

The family will receive friends at the LG WALLACE Funeral Home (151 Ottawa St. N., Hamilton, ON on Thursday, July 2 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., with memorial service following immediately after in the funeral home chapel. Cremation has taken place.

Curran_MarkInto the arms of the angels, Mark quietly slipped away at the Juravinski Hospital on June 29, 2015.

Left to mourn are his wife of 39 years Sandra, his children Sandra (Dan), Alexis (Joey), Maryanne and Luke (Paige). Dearly missed by his grandchildren Cody, Cassandra, Dustin, Leeanna, Destiny, Layden, Jaci-Lynn and Araya.

Survived by his sisters Ann (James) and Bernadette (Tony) of Scotland as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland.

Mark served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Northern Ireland and Germany for three years.

He arrived in Canada in 1982 and was a valued employee of Fortino's Burlington for 17 years.

Special thanks to the doctors, staff and volunteers at the Juravinski Cancer Center and Hospital CCICU for their outstanding care and compassionate support.

Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME 322 Fennell Avenue East on Friday, July 3, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Great grandfather to 8 ½ great grandchildren.

Brother-in-law to Ron and Isobel Kenyon.

Doug was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and sang in the church choir.

He was an avid 10 pin bowler and served in the Navy from 1943-1945.

The family will receive friends at the "THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL" 96 West Street Brantford, ON on Wednesday July 1st from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday July 2nd at 10:00 am. Interment.

Roy was an avid curler, golfer, dancer, fisherman and card player; til the wee hours.

He was a proud Veteran of WWII, HMCS Sackville.
