Kapellas_AlexIt is with profound sadness that the family of Alex announces his sudden passing on October 22, 2014 in his 43rd year.

Loving husband and companion to Michelle (Vos). Caring and beloved father of Amber, Meghan & Stephen. Loving son of Pauline Kapellas (the late Steve), and dear brother of Penny Hawtrey (Philip).

Alex will be sadly missed by his mother & father in-law Art & Tina Vos, his sisters in law Sherry Dinwoodie (Mike), Amanda Vos-Wiebe (Rick), his brother in-law Gerrit Vos (Johanna), his uncle Tom Kapellas and by many cousins, relatives, friends and all who knew him.

Alex’s faith in God helped to carry him through the difficult and uncertain times in his life, in particular after his accident in January 2010, when he became a quadriplegic. The accident and his commitment to his faith led him to become involved with the Youth Impact Centre in Dunnville and his later project of opening the PoCo Youth Centre at "The Hub."

He touched so many lives; he was an inspiration to us all.

A celebration of Alex’s life will be held on Sunday, October 26th at 3 p.m. at the Christian Life Assembly, 484 Barrick Rd., Port Colborne. Cremation will follow.

If so desired, donations may be a made to Christian Life Assembly for the Kapellas Family & Education Trust Fund.

After a life well-lived, Antonietta died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the age of 94.

Beloved wife of the late Gabriele.

Cherished mother of Maria Ingrosso (late Ugo). Loving Nonna to Gabriella and Robert Mauro, Diana and Joe Guarraci.  Proud great grandmother “Dunee” to Stephanie, Andrya, Alyssa and Nicole. Survived by her sister Ersilia Valente (Alberto) and predeceased by her sister Ida Valente in Carpinone, Italy.

Many thanks to the wonderful care received at St. Peter’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.  

Arrangements out of Hamilton. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 11 Wilson Street West, Ancaster on Saturday, October 25th at 10:00am.  Entombment to follow in Burlington.

Jose is also survived by his brother John and sisters Manuela and Emilia.

(August 3, 1936 - October 22, 2014) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, papa and great papa.

Carl will be remembered by his wife Shirley Spencer (Richardson) of 57 years. Loving father of Brian (Cindy) Spencer, Nancy (Roger) Filka. Grandchildren Lisa Spencer (Jay Hilliard), Adam (Tifanie) Spencer, Shelby Riddell (Jesse Vansevenant), Spencer Riddell (Natasha Bois) and Jake Fraser. Great Grandchildren Taylor, Kira and William. Best paw pal Lacy.

Brother to Neil Spencer (deceased), (Lois), Arlene (Murray) Hudsbeth, and Barry (Jill) Spencer. Loved brother in law to many. Carl will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews and close friends who enjoyed his diverse personality.

His hard work gave way to hard play. Which included, volunteering for the Caledonia Fire Department and spending time with the Firefighters long into the night. Gardened, and built to feed friends and family and have that place to enjoy the social fun.

Carl had a playful sense of humour and was a 'jack of all trades'.  There was never a dull moment when in his company. He retired to enjoy many years fishing at a home in the north and having his favourite "ice cold beer out on the pier."

Special thanks to Dr. Montour, Holly and all the nurses that came to the house to help. A big thank you to Rev. Barrie Bain for prayers and visits.

Funeral service in Caledonia on Saturday, October 25th. Cremation.

Surrounded by her children and with great love, we announce the passing of Stella on the 21st of October, 2014, at the age of 74.

Beloved wife of the late Bill Andrec (1987), tremendous mother to Michael, Stephen and David. Treasured and adored mother-in-law of Michelle and dearly beloved grandmother of Jessica and Katherine.

Stella devoted her life to the betterment of others: patients at the Hamilton General Hospital for 37 years as a Registered Nurse, selflessly giving of herself to family and friends with all of her love, hope and heart.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Regina Mundi Catholic Church on Saturday, October 25th at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.

As an expression of sympathy, a donation to Emmanuel House Hospice of Hamilton would be greatly appreciated.

Adored grandmother of Paula Shewfelt (Kevin), John (Karen), Kailey (Andrew), Ryan Small (Rachel), Marc (Nimmi), Nicole Vansickle (Matt), Adam (Rachel), Gregory (Ashley), Jay (Alicia), Derek and 10 great-grandchildren, Ella, Jacob, Nathan, Julia, Peyton, Annabelle, Rebecca, Twins Avril and Cole and Orion.

Predeceased by parents Kirk and Marie Mitchell, son Brian, grandsons Jeffrey Small and Justin Brenzil and daughter-in-law Beverly.

Passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in her 89th year.

Beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. Stanley Vance. Survived by her sister Rene Bedford. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Paul (Margaret) and Graham (Susan).

Loved Gran of Angela (Darryl), Noel (Erin), and Melanie and Nora (Jon), Dylan (Katka), Marni (Ryan), Geoff, (Andrea). Great-Grandmother of Samantha, Alliyah, Paisley, Madeleine and Liza, Gwyn, Remi, Tobi and Tysen.

She will be fondly remembered by Audrey and nieces and nephews and by Tamara, John and David.

Eleanor was an active member and elder at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Hamilton from 1949 to 2010, with contributions including teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and serving as president of the WMS.  Eleanor loved the cottage on Lake of Bays and spent many summers there with family and friends. She provided a gracious and dignified example and she will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2 o'clock, with visitation one hour prior at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 70 James Street South, Hamilton.

Born: Ják, Hungary Died: Hamilton, Ontario August 21, 1925 - October 20, 2014 With his family by his side, Stephen (István) Bozi passed away at 5:15 a.m. on October 20, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Survived by his beloved wife, Etelka, of sixty-three years. He is father to son, Tibor. He will be terribly missed by his adoring daughter, Rita, and son-in-law Ken.

He leaves behind his sister Zsuzsi in Szombathely, Hungary and was pre-deceased by his brothers Gyuri and Lali.

Born Bozi István in Hungary, Stephen escaped in the months following the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

Re-united with his wife and son in 1964, he went on to become a well-liked auto mechanic for B/A in Winnipeg, Gulf Oil Canada in St. Catharines and later for Petro-Canada in Dundas at his own station in University Plaza.

Thank you to all our incredibly supportive family and friends, the CCAC, VON, CIB, DARTS, Allister and Carolyn, and for their help over the years and caregivers, Maria and Meili.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The service will be held at St. Stephen of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 130 Barton Street East on Thursday, October 23rd (anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution), at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.

It is with great sadness, after a long battle with cancer, that we announce the passing of Roger on October 20, 2014 in his 74th year at Juravinski Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marjorie (Grimshaw) of 53 years, loving father of Jeff (Nancy), Roger (Ann) and he is now with our precious daughter Shelley Myles (Rob) who passed away of cancer July 24, 2014. They're together again.

Loving grandfather of Amanda (Zak), Ryan, Samantha (Chad), Brandon, Rebecca, and Joshua. Great-Grandfather of two beautiful girls, Chloe and Ava. He loved all of them very much.

Survived by his brother Len (Sue), many family, friends and neighbours.

To our dearest friend Joyce Deagle, thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.

At Roger's request cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held.

With heavy hearts, Ruth's family announces that on the evening of Monday, October 20, at the age of 92,

Ruth passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital with her loved ones by her side.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Garven, and her children Robert and Barbara (Brad), and predeceased by daughter Anne (Brian) and son Roger (Shelley).

Ruth was the proud grandmother of Jen, Adam (Kristina), Kevin, Tyler (Michelle), Amanda (Adam), Jaimie and Jocelyn (Jason), as well as a beloved aunt and friend to many.

A member of the Ryerson United Church Congregation for 61 years, Ruth was a talented singer and avid traveller, bowler and card player.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Shahla and the rest of the team at HomeWell Senior Care for their kindness and support.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11 a.m. at Ryerson United Church, 265 Wilson St. E. in Ancaster and guests are invited to join the family in the Fireside Room immediately following the service. A private burial will take place later that day in Hamilton for family to attend.

If desired, contributions in Ruth's memory can be made to Ryerson United Church and the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Passed away on October 20, 2014.

Son of the late Howard Russell and Mary Helen (nee Sheehan) Locke. Born August 27, 1929 in St. Catharines.

Beloved husband of the late Rita M.B. (nee Turner). Father of John (Kathy), James (Janice), Katherine (Steven), Patricia, George, Donald (Erin) and Hugh. Grandfather of David, Elizabeth, Shawn, James Douglas, and Amy Elizabeth.

He will be remembered by his many friends at St. Joseph's Villa Estates.

Retired in May 1990 from Westinghouse Canada as a Professional Electrical Engineer with 34 years of dedicated and faithful service.

Member of Regina Mundi Roman Catholic Church since its founding in 1959. 63 year member of the Knights of Columbus Charter Member Council 5860 and 12745.

Founding member of Hamilton Area Theatre Organ Society in 1970. Helped and guided rebuilding and installation of Theatre Pipe Organs from former Capital and Palace Theatres into the Ancaster High and Vocational School.

Special thanks to the caregivers at St. Joseph's Hospital, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, and St. Joseph's Villa Estates.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Regina Mundi Catholic Church, Hamilton (631 Mohawk Rd. W.) on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Catharines. Flowers gratefully declined.

Mum was a devoted homemaker blessed with good health, fierce independence and creativity. She treasured a caring, gentle spirit always helping others with twinkling blue eyes, a sharp wit and sense of humour, she loved to laugh. Loved too much. Too good.

Alice enjoyed weekly fellowship with the euchre groups at St. Paul's United Church, St. Albans Anglican Church, Sir Winston Churchill Seniors and Roxborough Park Seniors.

Friends and relatives are invited to Alice's funeral service at Tapleytown United Church, 413 Mud Street East, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment.

Donations to Samaritan's Purse (Operation Christmas Child), would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Orchard Terrace Nursing Home on Sunday, October 19, 2014, in his 86th year.

Beloved husband of the late Ninetta (nee Lepore). Loving father of Maria and Vince Sabatelli, Angela Marrone, and Vito and Linda Caputo. Cherished Nonno of Remo and Tracy, Ada and Mike, Jeffrey, Serena, Frank and Bisnonno of Nickolas, Aylissa, Cole, Cruz and Jax.

Sadly missed by many brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends in Italy and Canada.

Special thanks to the staff at Orchard Terrace Nursing Home and Dr. Cusimano for all their care and compassion. 

Funeral Mass will be offered at Incarnation Parish (on the corner Barton St. and Nash Road) on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 9 a.m. Entombment to follow.

Cherished Brother of Elda (Sestilio) Finocchi, Doralice (Luigi) Tarquini and Italo (Anna) Di Pietro. Vittorio will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Vittorio found happiness being outdoors, tending to his garden and sharing his harvest with his family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 East 37th St., Hamilton on Wednesday, October 22nd at 10 a.m. Burial to follow.
