PROKOP, Barbara Ellen Prokop, Obituary | Print |

PROKOP, Barbara Ellen -

It gives me deep sadness in my heart to announce that Barbara Ellen Prokop, born January 28, 1938 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, ON, passed away July 17, 2014 at Juravinski Hospital Hamilton, ON.

Predeceased by her father Thomas Edward Brown and her mother Elizabeth Mercer.

Born and raised in England, they moved to Hamilton to start a new life. Thomas worked in a coal mine in England and when moved to Hamilton worked for the steel company.

Thomas and Elizabeth had three daughters, Betty, Joan and Barbara. The daughters eventually married, Betty had three children, Tommy, Larry and Donna Baxter; Joan had a boy and a girl, Joannie and Jeffrey Duke; Barbara had two boys, Steven and John Prokop.

Morris and Barbara married July 27, 1964 in the city of Hamilton, ON. Barbara worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Morris operated his brother's taxi business in Grimsby, ON, then worked at The Grange Tavern in downtown Hamilton.

Barbara had a son, Steven Ralph Prokop, in which Morris openly adopted Steven in 1965 as his own and in 1966 Morris and Barbara had a son, John Thomas Prokop in which they provided the best possible traditional family valued lifestyle that any son would be so lucky and fortunate to have all in one lifetime.

Family morals, values, trust and communication were a very important part of a structured lifestyle in which seems to be lost in this day and age. Marriage vows meant something to them. For better, for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do them part, that's what made Morris and Barbara last 50 years, July 27, 2014. They had fun together, they laughed together, they cried together, they enjoyed life together, right to the bitter end.

Barbara suffered from chronic pain for a number of years in which her loving husband Morris devoted himself to give up everything to give his wife the best care possible, and he did. Barbara was a lucky woman to have that love and commitment and Morris was just as fortunate to have Barbara because she was a frugal woman and made sure the bills were paid and the home life was always structured and run like a well oiled machine. They were a match made in heaven.

Barbara will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all the friends and family she had ever known, especially her beloved and devoted husband Morris Prokop and her son John who will miss her for all the love and support Barbara gave to him, believing in him through the good, bad and hard times life often had to offer.

Barbara, may your journey to the life of everlasting peace be joyful and you are now in the hands of God with no more pain and suffering and the peace of mind that you passed with dignity and you will be missed by all. May God rest your soul. Amen.
