RYERSE, Edmon Arthur Ryerse Obituary | Print |

RYERSE, Edmon Arthur -

Ryerse_Edmon(May 25th, 1924 - March 2, 2015)

At the age of 90, Edmon says he has led a complete and satisfying life.

With the exception of his eventful years in the RCAF during World War ll, and a honeymoon period in the Orkney Isles, home for him has always been on the original land grant of his Ryerse ancestors in Woodhouse Township.

He founded E.A. Ryerse Bulldozing and Earthmoving in the 1950s. For two decades, most of the basements in Port Dover were the work of his machines. Later, he had time to pursue his hobbies of collecting and restoring steam and gas engines. The turn-of-the-20th-century belt-driven lathes and milling machines in his workshop still fascinate visitors and do useful work when required.

His quiet pride has always been his family: parents Collin and Margaret (England) Ryerse and five younger siblings Robert, Drusilla, Orin, Maybell and Jane. The brothers and sisters, along with their families, are all doing well.

Most of all, he appreciates the loving care of his wife Isabel Groat Ryerse; children Eleanor and June, Arthur and Cheryl, Richard and Kim; grandchildren Joe (1967-1999) Jan and Lori, James and Jennifer, Aaron, Ian, Alison and Jeremy; and great-grandchildren Zander, Preston, Lola, Paisley, and mid-August 2015!

He plans no funeral or memorial service, but asks that a celebration of his life be held at a later date. Arrangements out of Jarvis.
