For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Sponsors are welcome to participate and support HamiltonObituaries.com by advertising (i.e., local funeral centres, cemeteries, monument suppliers or local businesses, ...we would also include your Banners and Direct Links to your websites) – please  contact us for info!

Thombs LorneTHOMBS, Lorne Alfred -  1932-2018

Peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Peters Hospital in his 86th year.

Dear husband of the late Mary Maragret (nee McGarrity) (2007) for 54 years. Loving father of Diane Clair (Joe). Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Ashley) and Michael.

He is predeceased by his parents George and Mary Thombs and his siblings Mary Davis Graham and George Thombs. Brother-in-law of Sheila Dionne (the late Ron). Predeceased by sister-in-laws Eleanor Beattie and Kathleen Hughes (Terry). Lorne will  be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Many thanks to Dr. B Hattersley and the staff of St. Peters Hospital (3 East) for their kind and compassionate care. Special thanks to Father Laszlo Amaszka and  Len Davis.

Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, 2018, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with prayers to be said at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 128 Edgemont St S., on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date.

In memory of Lorne donations can be made to St. Peters Hospital Palliative Care.
