FORREST, Daisy Forrest, Obituary | Print |

FORREST, Daisy -

It is with great sadness that the family of Daisy Forrest announces her passing at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the age of 89.

Daisy was predeceased by Alan, her beloved husband of 50 years (1997) and her dear son David (2013).

She leaves behind her daughters Lynne (Bruce) and Louise (Steve); grandchildren Jenn, Chris, Melissa (fiancée Jeremy), Oliver, Sarah and great-grandson Ayden.

Daisy was a woman who was somewhat ahead of her time: independent, inquisitive and broadminded. She was passionate about music and the arts, and relished a stimulating, philosophical discussion. She loved the company of her family and friends, but was equally content in her solitude with a good mystery novel.

Her generous nature and tolerance for others was a lifelong example to all who knew her. She would humbly say that her greatest accomplishment and fulfillment was as a mother and grandmother.

Friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 4, 2014 to visit with the family, after which there will be a service in Ancaster. Please advise the family if you would like a moment during the service to share your memories of Daisy. A reception will follow the service at a separate location.

For those wishing to honour mom's memory, we know she would be thrilled to have donations made to the following groups: Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre, Alberton; "City Kidz", Hamilton and "Earthroots Ontario", in lieu of flowers.

MARINI, Angelo Gabriel Michael Marini, Obituary | Print |

MARINI, Angelo Gabriel Michael -     "Express Condolences"

Marini_AngeloIt is with great sadness we announce the passing of Angelo Gabriel Michael Marini on August 28, 2014.

Beloved husband for more than 52 years to Sharon. Proud and cherished father to David and Susan, Michael and Sheena, Angela and Wayne, Lori and Rob, Teresa, Mark and Joann. The greatest Papa ever to David (Victoria), Zachary (Ashley), Allan, Cristian, Riley, Joshua, Alexander, Gabriel, Tytus, Sebastian and Luca.

Predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Flora.

Beloved brother to Jean (Paul) and Jim (Vondelle) who was at his side until the end.

Treasured Godson to Natalie Vanni and Nephew to Mary Tatti.

Lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Angelo was the first university graduate in the family. He was a pharmacist for 50 years and throughout his career a proprietor of many businesses including; Marini and McBride, Dell Chemists and Super X Drugs. He was a mentor and inspiration to so many and the first employer to his children and countless family and friends.

Angelo’s entire journey in hospital, although painful and unfair, through the loving care of our new extended family CTU central and north and most of all Dr. A. Boyle and the entire palliative care team, we were able to find joy at the worst time of our lives.

Angelo was the measure of men for all his children. He was compassionate and a role model of integrity and good humour for all who knew him. He shared his love for learning, for people of all walks, for children and animals and for carnival midways with all his little children.

Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Monday, September 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 50 Brucedale Ave. E., on Tuesday, September 2nd at 10 a.m. Interment to follow.

Donations in memory of Angelo may be made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation or a children’s charity of choice.

Angelo did not go quietly into that good night; he raged against the dying of the light… he never did like to be told what to do.
