Of Mount Hope, beloved husband of Marjorie (Thompson), passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in his 87th year.

Edsal is also survived by his children, Cathie (Joseph) Mahoney of Toronto, Neil (Jackie) Laidman of Hamilton and Diane (Paul Lilley) Laidman of Golden Lake and by two grandsons, Tim (Ashley Scott) Laidman and Mike (Laura Thomas) Laidman, of Hamilton.

Also survived by sister, Irene Kelly, sisters-in-law, Jennie Deagle and Marian Thompson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by parents, Alvin and Bessie (Gingrich) Laidman, sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gilbert Douglas, brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Dorothy Laidman and brother-in-law, Gordon Kelly.

Thanks to the 4West medical staff.

Service will be held on Friday, June 20th in Caledonia. Interment.

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. 

Predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Neville Lewis (08/26/94). 

Eldica will be dearly loved and missed by her adopted niece Cleary and her husband Edward Cornell.  Great-aunt to Brandon and Marisa Moonsawmy, Candice Moonsawmy, Jewel, Caius, Oceana and Cupressina Butson and cousin-in-law John Lewis and many family in Trinidad and Tobago. 

Eldica enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Funeral Mass will be held at Annunciation of Our Lord, 280 Limeridge Road West, Hamilton on Monday at 10:00 a.m.  Interment.

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Michael on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the age of 41.

Cherished son of Judy Newton (the late Robert). Loving brother of Tracy Ross (Adam). Much loved and proud uncle to Robbie.

Michael will be dearly missed by his aunts and uncles Terry (Kathy), Dawn (Tim), Marie (the late Victor), George (Linda), David (the late Lynda), his great-aunt Jan and his many cousins.

Predeceased by his grandparents.

He loved golf, fishing and was a talented Chef.

Michael will always be loved and remembered by his family, friends and colleagues. He will be missed dearly.

Marie is the sister of the late Ted and his wife Sandi Carrier, Joe and Lois Carrier, Theresa and Ken Farmer and the late Albert and the late Jean Carrier. Sister in law of Bernie and Ruth Meyer.

She is predeceased by her parents Albert and Lucia Carrier.

Marie was a member of the CWL for over 50 years and a volunteer with the BGH Mammography Department.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 17 Washington Street, Paris on Friday at 11 am.  Cremation to follow.

Donations maybe made in memory of Marie to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the BGH, Mammography Department.

MATHESON, The Honourable Barry Herriot, Superior Court of Justice -

Born June 28, 1939 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and died peacefully on June 16, 2014.

Always proud of his Selkirk settler roots, he moved to St. Catharines, Ontario as a baby.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife Bettianne and their two daughters, Lea and Susan; son-in-law Vivek Bakshi and grandson, Jack; sister Jane Matheson Michalak; brother-in-law John Cupp; cousins Patrick Reid, Tim Reid, Peter Akin and Mary Ann Fitzgerald.

Predeceased by his parents John Pritchard (Jack) and Alice Herriot Matheson and brother Ian.

He attended Ridley College (’57), Trinity College, University of Toronto (6T1) and Osgoode Hall Law School (’66). He practiced law at Sullivan, Mahoney in St. Catharines. In 1983, Barry was appointed to the Queen's Counsel and certified as a specialist in both civil litigation and criminal law. He was appointed to the Superior Court of Justice in March 1998.

In addition to his professional life he was active in his community. He was a founding member of the St. Catharines Squash Club and the St. Catharines Montessori School. He was President of the St. Catharines Club and President of the Lincoln County Law Society; Chairman of the St. Catharines General Hospital and Chairman of the CAA Niagara. He was a member of the St. Catharines Rotary Club, recipient of the Paul Harris award and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

Barry was an accomplished athlete in football and track and field. He loved history, reading, bicycling, the law, canoeing in Algonquin Park and travelling the world to visit his daughters. He was an admirer of Winston Churchill and a very proud Canadian.

We will miss his sense of adventure, his stories and love of family and his witty humour. He was a fair, honest, loyal and ethical man.

In lieu of flowers, and if so desired, memorial donations may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 27th at 12 noon at Ridley College Chapel, 2 Ridley Road, St. Catharines.

She was the loving Giagia of 7 grandchildren Penny (Todd), Chris (Lynda), Tammy (Russ), Vanessa (Mike), Kathryn, Chris (Katie) and predeceased by Catherine. She is also survived by 8 Great Grandchildren Niki (Keith), Danny (Katrina), Meghan, Graham, Olivia, Wesley, Anastazia, and Tyler.

She is survived by her siblings Elizabeth, Demetrios and Kyriakos.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anastasios & Evdoxia Terpos, and brothers Christos and Cosmas.

Catherine was also survived by many other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, the U.S.A. and Greece.

Katina loved her family and her whole life was dedicated to them. She was an avid knitter and everyone in the family received a new pair of hand knitted slippers each year and you never left her home empty handed.

Special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph’s Villa, Cedar Grove who cared for her in her final days.

There will be a visitation for Family & Friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Tuesday June 17, 2014 from 2pm – 4pm and from 6pm – 9pm with a Trisagion Prayer Service on Tuesday evening at 8pm at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 233 East 15th Street on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 11am. Interment following the service.

Sadly, and yet, with deep gratitude for her life, we announce that Ann died at Juravinski Hospital on the eve of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Saturday, June 14, 2014.

She has now been reunited with her parents, Helen and Mike, her sister Helen, and her brothers Mike and Ted.

Ann was the beloved wife of Joseph; the cherished mother and mother-in-law of Jo-Ann and John, Brian and Karen; and doting and dedicated BABA of Jonathan, and Michael.

As well, mother was a talented seamstress, wonderful cook and baker, and an avid gardener and reader.

After having given so much for so long, we pray that BABA now rests in peace, and has perpetual light shining upon her.

A private funeral has taken place.
