Sadly we announce the sudden passing of our father and grand-father, in his 75th year, on June 6, 2013.

Predeceased by his wife Audrey. Left to mourn are his children Pamela Poppe (Michael), Sandra Plese (Zdenko), Keith (Christa), and his grandchildren Denis, Victoria and Michael Plese and Steven Nickerson.

Charles enjoyed 20 years of retirement having worked at Direct Winters Transport. When not RVing with his buddies, Chuck could be found on his swing in the backyard.

A memorial luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Stoney Creek United Church, 1 King St. W. (at Lake Ave.) from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Adoring Nonna to Mark and Amy Poloniato, Jason and Jennifer Poloniato, Kelly Poloniato and her fiancé Anthony Marson, Nicholas Poloniato, Richard Marchese, and Lily Marchese. Bisnonna of Isabella, Mya, Olivia, Peyton.

Sister and sister-in-law of the late Pete and Helen Benedetti, the late Wamp and Dorothy Benedetti, the late Benny and Ann Benedetti, the late Wieners and Margaret Benedetti, the late Primo Poloniato, the late Edie and Johnny Traini and the late Aldo Poloniato. Lillian will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lillian was a 60 year member of St. Anthony's and Holy Rosary Church's Catholic Women's League and past president of the Hamilton Ad and Sales Club.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Chiu and staff of the Hampton Terrace Care Centre Burlington for their care and compassion.

Arrangements out of Hamilton. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Rosary Church, 287 Plains Rd. E., Burlington on Monday, June 10th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Passed away on June 6, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Jacqueline "Jackie", father-in-law Harold "Larry" Cooper, sisters-in-law Pat Cooper, Gerry (Michael) Adamson, sister Margaret (Ted) Oldham, nephews Jeff (Agnes) and Kevin (Terry) and niece Joanne (Paul) and families. Predeceased by his mother Muriel and father Albert Skelton and mother-in-law Margaret Cooper.

Teddy was a mechanical engineer who owned his own business for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and scuba diving instructor for the Aqua Knights of Hamilton. Teddy was well liked and respected by his employees and co-workers and most significantly of all, he was a dedicated, caring husband.

Jackie would like to thank Dr. Bev Hattersley and the staff of 3 West at St. Peter's Hospital, for their exceptional care of Teddy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. East. The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Cresmount Funeral Home with entombment to follow.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Gary Allan Smith announces his peaceful death on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Hamilton General Hospital.

Gary is predeceased by his parents John Allan and Lillian Rose (Martinson) and his wife Mary Ann (Easterbrook). Left to mourn are his wife Mary, her children, John, Matthew (Crista Batho), Christina (Brian Hick), and Daniel and her grandchildren Calvin and James Maxwell, his sons Mike (Michelle Racicot), Mark (Tammy Allan), his grandchildren Joshua and Emma, and many cousins and friends.

Gary was retired from Hasbro and currently a tax specialist for H & R Block. His unconditional love, loyalty and enthusiasm was an inspiration to all who knew him.

A heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of 8 South for their excellent and compassionate care during the last weeks of his life.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Ancaster.

God blessed our family with an angel! She was in our presence filled with innocence, patience, compassion and the greatest gift of all, Pasqualina gave us, true and unconditional love. She will always be our blessing, treasured and missed till one day we will be together again whole and complete.

She grew up in Perth, Ontario and married Bob, the love of her life in 1950. They had one daughter and moved to Toronto. Their many wonderful years together changed when Frances suffered a stroke in 1986. Moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1990 she has been cared for by her family.

Dearest husband Bob (2009), daughter Jacqueline (Abe) DeLange, granddaughters Katie (Scott) Reid, Abbey DeLange (Trevor Austin) and loved great-grandsons Kayne and Kruz Reid.

She was a “happy” lady and always had a smile for everyone.

Cremation has taken place and a Family Service will take place in Perth, Ontario at a later date.

As an active parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church, Dundas, Alma was a member of the Parish Prayer Network, the Bereavement Team and, for more than 53 years, a member of the parish Catholic Women’s League, receiving the Diocesan Frances Lovering Woman of the Year Award in 2012.

Our deepest appreciation to Msgr. Edward Sheridan and Fr. Bob Love for their spiritual comfort. Our family is especially grateful to Dr. Jim Williams for the generous and loving care he gave, and to Dr. Simon Oczkowski and the Intensive Care Unit staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the exceptional compassion shown our family, and the comfort and dignified care you extended to our dear mother.

He was born in Inverness, Quebec on May 6, 1926.   Beloved husband of Cora for 61 years.  Much loved father of Eric (Hanne) Porter, Grace (Tom) Stokke, Pam (Dave) MacIntyre and Rocky (Lorraine) Porter.

Fondly remembered as a kind and generous man.  Family was of the utmost importance to Bill, especially his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared many happy times. They spent many wonderful days together but not enough years.

Survived by his brother Gordon and sisters Rita Nugent and Irene (Gordon) Humphrey.  Predeceased by his sisters Effie, Glenna and Jessie.

Bill and his family made Waterdown their home in 1964.  He was a longtime employee of Butler Manufacturing.  Bill was always noticed around Waterdown with the daily walks he enjoyed.  We are thankful for his roots and the wings he gave us.

A celebration of life service will take place in Waterdown on Saturday, June 8th.  Cremation has taken place.

THOMAS, Gerald -

(February 7, 1938 - June 5, 2013) - Suddenly on June 5th, 2013 we lost our loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gerald was born in Maesteg, Wales and emigrated to Canada in 1969 with his wife, Maureen, and their three children; Lynne (Tony), Jenny (Charlie) and Steven (Edwina). He was a lover of English and Math and had a long career as a High School Math teacher and Coach in the Hamilton School System. He did love his grade 13's!

An avid 'swim' parent and volunteer, he culminated his involvement in swimming as the head official at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He was president of the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association and volunteered tirelessly for 40 years within the organization and sport, including decades of CANUSA involvement.

He retired in 1994 from teaching and joined his wife in travelling the world. He played squash for many years and recently returned to his swimming roots by weekly swimming at the Dundas Community Centre.

He will be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren (Matthew, Thomas, Jaime, Scott, Shanika, Caitlin, Liam, Madeleine and Luke). Gerry has given his body for organ donation and research.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers friends may elect to send a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetics Association.

A Celebration of his Life will be forthcoming, with details to follow.

Cherished wife of her late husband William (2007).

Loving mother of Joan (Jerry) Murphy, Gail Cumming, and Joy (Peter) VanderVlist. Dear grandmother of Avery Murphy (Casey), Rachel Lea (Evan), Julie Hallonquist (Seamus), Mark Hallonquist, Jason, Chad and Meghan VanderVlist. Also missed by siblings Andy and Larry Raab.

Predeceased by infant children Lynn, Donna, Donald; and siblings Mary, Agnes, Martin and Joey.

Special thank you to the amazing staff at Maple Grove Place, and Hamilton General Hospital for their care and support.

At Betty’s request, cremation has taken place and a gathering in Celebration of Her Life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 142, 305 Queen Street, Dunnville on June 29th from 1  to 3 p.m.

Donations in Betty’s honour to Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation-CT Scan, or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.

Peacefully, at the age of 103, at St. Olga's Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Predeceased by her loving husband Leo A. Gravelle, her greatly missed sisters, Naomi Drolet and Louise Sevard, and much loved granddaughter, Andrea Robinson. She will be greatly missed by her loving son Robert (Jody) and was a greatly cherished adopted grand-mother to Erin Campanella (Angelo) and Susan Thomson; great-grand-mother to Jessica and Kristen Robinson, Alexander, Matthew and Lucas Campanella, and Anjiel, Christian and Tashia Merrill and a great-great-grandmother of three. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and extended family members both here and away.

Funeral services will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 58 Sydenham St., in Dundas, on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held in the church hall following interment.

If desired, donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

Passed peacefully on June 4th, 2013 in her 86th year surrounded by her family.

Loving wife of Raymond Alexander (deceased).

Devoted mother to Marion, John, Marg, Marlene and Ray.  Caring mother-in-law to Roy Gunn, Bill Renton, Klaus Zabel and Teri (nee Kirkland).

Sadly missed by grandchildren Jeff, Keira, Greg, Tina, Jamie, John, Julie, Michael, Amber, Rachel, Adria and great-grandchildren, Connor, Mya, Rylan and Ava. 

A memorial service will be held for Olive in Dundas on Monday afternoon.

Joyce was a RNA at the Henderson Hospital for many years.

Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 260 Melvin Avenue (at Parkdale) on Friday, June 7th at 1:00 p.m. Interment.
