Nugent_Liz(July 19, 1982 - October 27, 2014)

Sadly in the morning of the 27th of October 2014, Liz was cruelly taken from us at her home in Burlington, tearing a whole in the hearts of many people.

Leaving behind her parents Vincent and Crystal, her brothers and sisters, Nathan Nugent (Melanie) in Belleville, Laura Sime (Tony) in Scotland, and Richard England in Thailand. Also her nephew and nieces, Anthony, Jack, and Olivia, in Belleville, and Aimee and Jessica in Scotland.

Liz was loved by all who met her. She was beautiful, funny and smart, and could only see the very best in people.

Liz was very talented and creative young woman; she recently designed three book covers, and her advertising company “OOF!” was just staring to see success. Liz also worked in the hospitality industry - actually Liz put the hospitality into the industry. Her personality made her many friends in everything she did.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 8th in Belleville.

BANNON, William Douglas 'Doug' Bannon - Obituary | Print |

BANNON, William Douglas 'Doug' -

January 11, 1931 – October 22, 2014

After a long battle with his plights, Doug lost the fight and passed away surrounded by loved ones, leaving us on October the 22nd, 2014, donning angel wings on his way to Valhalla.

Doug was born to William Percival (Wareham) Bannon and Evelyn (Reed) Bannon on January 11th, 1931. A top honours graduate from Albert College (1949), he also played football for the Galloping Ghosts (farm team for the Toronto Argonauts). Doug enrolled in Queen's University for a degree in Law, but was cut short due to family responsibilities.

He was indisputably a man of many talents. As a championship bowler, golfer, snowmobiler, skier, and curler, his athletic abilities seemed boundless. In addition, he became an established producer and director, creating several live shows, and even bringing one show – cast and crew in their entirety – all the way to the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) in Alert, Greenland. Many of his productions were on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society.

As an involved member of the community, he was active with the Belleville Waterfront Festival for a number of years. His contributions were not strictly limited to the local community, though. He proudly served his country in the Navy, and travelled to 22 different countries while on service.

Doug was an honourable leader, and served on several boards: Sales and Ad, the Snowmobile Club, Bay of Quinte Golf Club, and was Commodore of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club. If Doug was not working, you could find him either cruising the waterways or somewhere on a fairway, always ending on Hole 19. After his retirement, he spent many years travelling the world, typically wintering at his snowbird nest in Zephryhills, Florida.

Doug is survived by his wife Nancy Bannon and her son Shane, wife Yvette and children Liam and Teaghan, as well as her step-son Richard, wife Cathy and children Kristy, Nicholas, and Sara. Doug is also survived by his son Christopher, wife Veronica and daughter Jessica. Also his daughter Bonni-Lyn, partner David and her children Erin, Megan, Amanda, Dawson, and granddaughter Brooklyn.

The family is hosting a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 1st at the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club from 5:00pm – 10:00pm.
