Beloved husband of Bernice (nee Nicholls) of Trenton. Loving father to Pat, Kris (Tom), John and Ed (Lesley).

John will be lovingly remembered by all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survived by his siblings; Bob Free, Louise Debassige and will be missed by all his nieces & nephews.

Also survived by sister in law Margaret Tallis.

The funeral service will take place in Trenton on Thursday, March 5th. Cremation to follow.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

A Funeral Service will be held at Eastminster United Church on Thursday, March 5th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow service. Interment to take place in the spring in Plainfield.

Loved grandmother of Dione, Candice, Dwayne, Rocky, Donald, Austin, Jacob, Jonathan, Ian, Perry, and Beth. Great-grandmother of 12.  Sister and sister-in-law of Glenda Ross (Maurice), Murray Vardy (Pauline), and Gord Steele (Barb).

Predeceased by her parents Donald Vardy (1988) and the late Mary (Musclow) Vardy (2008), her sister Lois (1955) and her son Dennis Foster (2008).

Anne’s family will receive relatives and friends at Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church (Weslemkoon Lake Road, Gilmour) on Wednesday, March 04, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Service for Anne will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastors Don and Dick McMurray officiating. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in Gilmour.

Beloved husband of Marie Adams (Scott). Cherished dad of Doug Adams & his wife Sally, Judy Williamson & Steve Witteveen, Steve Scott & his wife Joyce, John Scott & his wife Cathy, Mary Jane George & her husband Kevin and Mike Scott.

Remembered by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings Douglas, Joseph, Alan, Shirley, Katherine and their families; and Marie's Family Members.

Don was an active sportsman all his life. He will be remembered for his participation in Hockey, Football, Baseball and in later years as Champion Senior Lawn Bowler and Horseman of the Year.

Arrangements out of Belleville. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 4th at 10:30 a.m. followed by reception in the Parish Centre.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our "Mum" Sylvia Maycock.

She was the loving wife of the late Abe. Beloved Mum to her children, Marie Dawson, Churyl Cole (Roger), Chris Maycock (Deborah).

Her Grandchildren, Mark (Jocelyn) Dawson, Donna Boschma (Donny) Paul Dawson (Marlene) Shaun Dawson (Kori) Christopher Maycock, Kelli-Anne and Ross Maycock.  Sylvia was also the dear gran of 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

A private family memorial will take place at a later date.

Sylvia’s family would like to sincerely thank the Nursing Staff at Sills Complex Continuing Care ward for their kindness and compassion in assisting Mum in her final days.

Loving husband of Yvonne Searle for 29 wonderful years.  Father of Dean McCurdy of Peterborough. Fondly remembered by Yvonne’s children Murray Hill of Toronto, and Janice Coppaway of Curve Lake, and their families.

Predeceased by siblings Nora, Sam, and Kathleen.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements out of Brighton.

Singer_KathleenKathleen M Singer, died February 28, 2015 at the age of 89 at the Caressant Care Nursing Home in Marmora after a battle with ALS.

Kathleen is survived by her sister Joyce Robinson (Ron) of Hollywood, Florida and her sister-in-law Jill Fuller of Wasaga Beach, Ontario and her four children, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years George Evan Singer, her siblings Alfred Fuller and Doreen Bartlett and brother-in-law Dave Bartlett.

Kathleen was born in London, immigrated to Canada in 1957, a longtime resident of Ajax, then retired to Penetang and returned to Lynde Creek Village in Whitby in 1999.

She was a World War ll veteran, serving with the Army Territorial Service, Royal Army Ordnance Corp.  After raising her family, Kathleen sewed for many years at the former Chrysler Trim plant in Ajax.  She was fond of travel, shrimp and wine, not necessarily in that order. But her treasures were her family and many friends.

Much loved Mother of Carol MacMillan (late Iain) of Marmora, Geoffrey Singer and his wife Wendy of Ajax, Christina Harrod (Ron) of Marmora, Paul Singer (Brenda) of Ajax. Grandmother of Sean and Amanda, Angie and Mark, Danielle, Michael and Rachel, Sean and Lori, Bethany, Nikki, Alan and Luke. Great-grandmother of Victoria, Kyle, Hayden, Jamie, Brittany, Tristan, Braiden, Lexi, Logan, Alyson, William, Matthew and Andrew.

The family wishes to thank the staff of both Lynde Creek Manor and Carresant Care Nursing Home for their professional, yet warm and caring support.

Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby from 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7th until time of celebration service in the Barnes Chapel at 2:00 p.m.

Gorsky_Professor_MorleyAge 86, passed away on February 23, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Shiva will be held on February 24th and 25th, and a memorial service will follow at a later date.

Morley was born on August 14, 1928. A proud Winnipegger, Morley grew up in the north end, forming friendships that would last a lifetime.

He obtained his LLB in 1953 from the University of Manitoba and began his legal career in Ottawa, eventually becoming a partner at Greenberg, Wright & Gorsky 1955-1965.

With his wife (late Blanche Gorsky) and three young children, Morley left his legal practice to pursue his LLM from New York University (1966) and embark on an academic career. He enjoyed his many years in higher education, as Professor of Law at Queen’s University (1966-73) and eventually retired as Professor Emeritus, University of Western Ontario (1973-89.)

His work for the Ontario Law Reform Commission led to pioneering comprehensive reform of Ontario residential landlord and tenant legislation, which endures to the present.

He published widely including Evidence and Procedure in Canadian Labour Arbitration, numerous articles in Canadian and US Law Journals. He was also a labour arbitrator, working until his early 80s. His intense intellectual passions covered many topics, and his sharp sense of humour was often reflected in lectures and written work. Young at heart, Morley remarried in 2008 and spent happy years together with Emily (Naretto) Gorsky, including several memorable trips to Italy and California. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.

Morley was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Polly, and his late wife Blanche (Nemerovsky) Gorsky in 2006. He is survived by his three children, Thomas Gorsky (Rose Bloomberg), Diane Gorsky (Manohar Bance), Nadine Gorsky (Jon Mills) and grandchildren Selene, Jared, Keiran, Chloe and Ivy.

He is also survived by his wife Emily (Naretto) Gorsky, and her loving family Sylvana Huneault, Daniel Moretta (Belinda), and grandchildren Robert, Michelle, Katrina, Ethan and Nicholas.

Dear sister of Leitha Carr of Bancroft, Ellen Stone of Apsley, Howard McCormack of Consecon, Pauline Slater of Maynooth, Rodney McCormack of Pembroke and Phyllis Slater of Petawawa and was predeceased by her siblings: Manley, Eliza, Wilfred and Leonard. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families.

The service will take place in Bancroft at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Saturday, March 7th, 2015, 1:30pm. Spring interment.

Margaret moved to Canmore from Belleville, Ontario in 1995 where she made many friends and experienced a full life enjoying the mountains.

Margaret, born in Brighton, Ontario on April 23, 1923, was mother of Nancy (Al) Bellstedt and James Way and is also survived by two brothers, Clifford (Verna) and Ross (Sandy) and one sister Gladys Edwards.

She was predeceased by family Charlie (Peggy), Eileen and Stan Zwinski, Gloria Brown and Howard (Bernice).

Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.

Eric's work life is best remembered through his proud service as Executive Director of the Brampton YMCA for nearly 25 years, from 1958-1982.

At his request there will be no service, but a summer celebration of his long and rich life.

Donations in his remembrance can be made to his favourite causes: Queen's University, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Joe was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Bennett) for over 60 years. Loving father of Jim and Mike (Lianne Spearman). Youngest brother of ten siblings, all of whom are predeceased.

Joe will be remembered by many other relatives and friends as a very sweet man.

Joe was born in St. Johns, NL. He moved to Ontario in 1964 where he met and married Patricia. His work took him from Toronto to Thornhill, then upon retirement he moved to Bancroft and then to Bobcaygeon.

Loved by her grandchildren Wayne Jr (Kristan), Eric (Kelly), Wendy (Mike), Mark (Janet), Kim (Paul), Brad, Melissa (Cheyenne), David (Helen), Becky (Randy) and John (Nicola) and their families.

The funeral service will be held at Prince Edward County Free Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Spring Interment at Sophiasburgh.

Burtch_AlicePassed away peacefully at the Kentwood Park Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Alice Burtch (nee Casement), 10 days before her 100th birthday, with her family at her side.

Beloved wife of the late Reverend William Gerald Burtch and much loved mother of Ruth (Ron) Chiles of Napanee, the late Sylvia (Glenn) Brewster and Wayne (Bert) of RR 4 Picton.

Proud grandmother of Doris (Lawrence Mallory), David Johnston (Anna), Michael Brewster (Donna) and the late Stephen and great grandmother of Laura, David, Courtney, Tyler and Kurtis.

Sister of the late Pearl, Amber, Lou, Allen, Robert and Eulah.

The funeral service will take place at St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church on Monday, March 2nd at 11 am. The Reverend Dorothy Lancaster officiating. Spring interment in Frankford.

Mansell_BryanCherished husband of Gladys (Blagdon) for over 65 years; peacefully at the Peterborough Retirement Residence, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Loving father of Graham Mansell of Orleans, ON and Judith Creally (Gene) of Peterborough. Adored Grandpa of Aaron Creally (Lynette) of Peterborough & Andrew Creally of Toronto. Great Grandpa of Brielle, Cian & Ever Creally.

Son of the late Edward Charles & Edith May Mansell (Green). Brother of Ronald (dec.), Barbara (Pat dec.), Margaret (Mike) & Beth (Tony). Bryan was born and raised in Truro, England.

Bearing the rank of Sgt. with the British Royal Air Force, he proudly served as a laboratory assistant in the RAF Hospital in the Republic of Singapore, during WWII and in 1957, Bryan & family immigrated to Canada. He worked in Belleville, ON for a short duration, relocating to Peterborough in 1958 and eventually residing on Barnardo Ave.  Bryan served as Chief Laboratory Technologist at the former Civic Hospital from September 1958 until his retirement in October 1987.

Both during his career and retirement, he enjoyed family gatherings, photography and travel. Always passionate in supporting family and friends, Bryan served as a blood donor for several years with the Red Cross, reaching the achievement of donating over 100 times.

On behalf of Bryan, the family extends its deepest appreciation to the caring staff of Peterborough Retirement Residence in their personal and professional attention to his end of life care.

Memorial Service will be held in Peterborough on Saturday, February 28th.
