Nan will be fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Bessie White of Stirling and was predeceased by her siblings: Clifford, Johnnie, Mary, Bill, Walter, Lindsay, Audrey, Art and Howard.

Unexpectedly passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, April 29th, 2013 at the PEC Memorial Hospital, Picton, of Wellington in his 61st year.

Loving husband of Susan (nee Wilson). Caring father of Marisa (David) Bowden and Adrian. Proud grandfather of Crystal, Teagan and Spencer.

Ron believed in the motto of "putting the needs of the child first” and he lived it through his work at P.E.C. CAS and his volunteer efforts with minor hockey and Big Brothers. Ronnie G loved golf and music and he will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 3rd at the Allisonville Elks Lodge #566 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception and light luncheon immediately following.

Doug has gone with the Great Spirit to his house of many rooms.  We know he will forgive him his sins and offer eternal peace. Remembered with love by his father and stepmother Paul (Bud) & Sue Line, sisters Tracey (Paul Dawson), Cathy Line, niece Anna Hockley and many cousins and many, many friends.

Doug was predeceased by his mother Annette Kotowick (Line) Burns.

A native service was be held at the Markham Legion on Thursday May 9th, 2013 at 1 p.m.  A time of food and fellowship  followed service. Doug’s great passion was fishing. And what a fisherman he was!  He was proud and grateful for the time he spent working as a fishing guide in the North West Territories. He had some of the best fishing stories you ever heard. Doug was an outdoorsman and loved to be out on the water with a rod in one hand, a beer in the other and a fishing buddy by his side. If there is a final fishing hole, Doug is there. He will be sadly missed. He is at peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter  in Doug's memory and that of his beloved dogs, Louie and Stella. Gone too soon.

Suzanne grew up in Midland and Lyndock and had her schooling in Simcoe. Suzanne worked in apples, etc. She had her own apple and cider cart at markets and fairs. Loved horse cart racing; she had her own horse, cart and driver. Master gardener; loved to work in the greenhouse and nursery; especially working in her own gardens. Some of her hobbies - watching and feeding the birds, steam engines, going to shows, ploughing matches, flea markets and train shows. She was a collector of lanterns and hat pins .

Smith_GlenwoodFormerly of Central Blissville and Harvey Station, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Crown Ridge Long-Term Care in Trenton, Ontario on April 24, 2013.

Glenn was born in Central Blissville on December 15, 1914 to the late Winslow Alexander Smith and Bessie Jane (Harris) Smith. He was a loving husband to Mary Bernadine (Nolan) of Trenton, Ontario for 58 years, and the former Ruth Hartt of Fredericton Junction.

Glenn was a carpenter and contractor by trade, first in Fredericton and the Junction, then in the service, finally retiring to Harvey in 1981 from the St. Lawrence Seaway in Cornwall, Ontario.

Besides his wife Mary, Glenn leaves his daughter Sandra Marie Smith, son-in-law Graham John Rempe, and three grandsons, Alexander Glenn, Nolan John, and Christian Nicholas from Toronto, Ontario. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy (Smith) Hoyt, her daughter Nancy Ritchie of Ottawa, Ontario and her sons Todd and Gavin and their families, and nieces Linda (Rob) Robertson and daughters from Trenton, Ontario, and Karen (Gord) Hurd and family from Oakville, Ontario.

Glenn was predeceased by his sister Thelma Patricia (Smith) Lawrence, her husband Jack and son Peter Lawrence from Kelowna, BC, and his brother Norman Smith from Central Blissville.

When you live a long life, and see many friends and family pass, you leave mostly memories. Glenn was a crackerjack pitcher in his younger years, an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed up to the past year his vegetable garden, card games with friends, and harmonica playing with fellow musicians. He was a WWII Veteran and a long-time member of the Legion, both in Fredericton Junction and Trenton. He resided from Newfoundland to Alberta throughout his long life, but called New Brunswick and Ontario his home. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Arrangements in Ontario out of Trenton, where a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Visitation & Funeral Service will be held in Central Blissville, NB, in the house where Glenwood grew up. Interment will be in the Blissville United Baptist Church Cemetery.

Passed away peacefully at the Stirling Manor on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013.

Dorothy Miller, formerly of Toronto, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Ross Miller. Loving mother of Mary Hopkins (Bruce) of Boulter and the late Jane Miller.

Survived by her son in law Lawrence MacDonald. Predeceased by her sister Margaret and brothers John and Frank. Ever remembered by her grandchildren Julie (Gary) and Ron (Shawna) and great grandchildren.

At Dorothy’s request, cremation has taken place. A Private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Grandmother and great grandmother of many. Sister of Gladys Munroe; and the late Irene Ricard.

The funeral service will be held in Marmora, on Friday, April 26th. Interment in Marmora.

Entered into rest at the Belleville General Hospital on Tuesday April 23rd, 2013 in her 91st year.

Dear daughter of the late Ernest & Ethel Wallbridge. Beloved wife of the late Hubert Townsend. Cherished Mother of Gary Townsend of RR#1 Campbellford, Roger Townsend (late wife Faye) of RR#1 Carrying Place and Nancy Hubbs (Bill) of RR#1 Bloomfield. Predeceased by her daughter Patricia Townsend and son Richard Townsend.

Will be missed by her grandchildren;Geoff, Angie, Tammy, Sean, Jennifer, Wendy, Greg, Serena, Jessie and by her great grandchildren; McKinley, Katie, John, Dustin, Jamie and Erica. Predeceased by her sisters Phyllis McFaul, Doris Coe, Lottie Green and by her brothers Ridley, Allen, Frank and Malcolm Wallbridge.

Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Women's Institute, Willing Workers, Albury Church & Choir and The Country Church Players.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held at Albury Church (Rednersville Road) on Saturday April 27th, 2013 at 1:00p.m. (with visitation at the church one hour prior). Rev. P. Katherine Irwin officiating. Inurnment to take place at a later date.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Marion, are asked to consider Albury Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Morris Turner, of Flinton, in his 74th year. Brother of Eldon Turner and Fern (Morris) Marshman. Father of Mark Turner (Meridan), Bowmanville; and Jane Grant (John), Battersea.

Grandfather of Nathan (Tera), Bowmanville; Olivia (Shane), Bowmanville; and Jenna (Simon), Kingston. Great grandfather of Violet and Sophia. Missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Many thanks to the staff of M.S.S.U. 5 for the excellent care.

Wadley_DavidHusband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather. Died peacefully on Tuesday, April, 23 2013 at the age of 85.

David was born and raised in St. Thomas, Ontario, the son of Edith and Edward Wadley (born in London, England) and brother to Ted, Jack, Gerry and Robin.

David matriculated at staff - college for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto and began his career as assistant manager and then bank manager in the Niagara Peninsula. At one time, he was a member of the Niagara Falls Lions Club and often spoke of the time he escorted leader of the opposition, John Diefenbaker, to a political function.

While working in Port Colborne, David met Joanna Louschall. They married in 1957 and had two children, Matthew and Lezlie. David’s work relocated the family to Belleville, Lakefield and King City. David left the bank in 1967 and became vice-president of a transportation firm until relocating back to Niagara Falls and working until his retirement for Niagara Block Co.

In 1977, Joanna passed away, and David met and married Elsie. They shared a love of gardening, curling, politics, baseball and travelling. They often fondly remembered cruises they took and had a particular love for Bermuda.

David was known for his positive outlook on life, his enjoyment for Jazz music, his wit, his love of family and his strong belief in God. He tried to see the best in everyone and was quick to strike up a conversation with friends and strangers alike. This rare and wonderful quality left a lasting impression on everyone who met him, even in his last week of life. He leaves a legacy of love, tolerance, and faith.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife, Elsie, and his brother Robin (Mary Jane) Wadley, sisters-in-law Marion, Joan, and Sue. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by daughter Lezlie Wade (Kevin Etherington), son Matthew (Margaret) Wadley, step-sons Chuck (Lori) Shafley, Tim (Laurie) Shafley, step-daughters, Paula (Ray) Ward, Nancy (Jim) Kennedy and his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in Niagara Falls on Friday. Interment will follow.

In memory of David, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.

GEHAN, Mary Alice Elizabeth 'Betty' (nee MacDonald) -

Gehan_BettyPassed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on April 22 at the age of 75.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late Lorne Gehan (1984) and left us on what would have been their 56th anniversary. She was adored by her children, Christopher (Karen) of Kitchener, Catherine (Douglas) Graham of Montreal, Margaret of Kingston, Gregory of Belleville and the late Anne Marie (2008).

She will never be forgotten by her grandchildren Jennifer and Madeleine Gehan, and Heather and Geoffrey Graham. Betty was the dear sister of Jeannette Barrett, Winnie Dayton, Ruby (Nelson) Scharger, Gene (Margot - d.) MacDonald and Tom (Sharon) MacDonald, having been predeceased by siblings Arthur, Walter, John, Sarah Lloyd and Rose Marie Crawford.

She was the dear sister-in-law of Elaine (Jack - d.) O’Neill, Bruce (Toots - d.), Marlene (d.) (Doug) Spencer, Ellenore (Earl - d.) Parker, Bud (d.) (Lois), and Betty-Jane (Paul - d.) Lefebvre. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families will share in our loss. Betty enjoyed the company, support and friendship of not only her family, but many friends. She in turn was greatly admired for her stoicism and perseverance in life.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 296 Church St., Belleville on Friday, April 26 at 10:30am. Cremation will take place after the funeral, with interment at a later date.

The family expresses their gratitude to all Health Care staff at Belleville General Hospital’s ICU and Sills 4 for their kindness and professionalism.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Flowers are welcome at the funeral home, as everyone will be aware of Betty’s long time fondness for flower gardening.
