It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of James Michael (Jim) Flaherty on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the age of 64.

Jim was the loving husband of Christine Elliott and a proud father of their triplet sons John, Galen and Quinn Flaherty.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters: David, Ted, Ann Gilmartin (Frank), Gerry, Patrick (Sylvie Lepage), Norah (Bob Levy) and Mary, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will take place at ABILITIES CENTRE, 55 Gordon Street, Whitby ON, on Tuesday April 15th from 12:30 - 4:00pm and 6:30 - 8:00pm.

The funeral service will be held at St. James Cathedral, located at 65 Church Street, Toronto on Wednesday, April 16th at 3:00pm.

The family appreciates all of the expressions of support and condolences and asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish can make donations to Abilities Centre www.abilitiescentre.org.

Grandfather of Christine (Brian) Crisp of Bracebridge, Kimberly (James) Moreau of Keswick, Angelia McCarter of Trent Lakes, Melissa Bate of Grande Prairie, AB, Jennifer Bate of Bridgenorth  and Mikala Bate of Bobcaygeon. Great-grandfather of Shaun, Madaline and Tyler.

Brother of the late Kay Martin, Cleo Hill and Betty Shea. Jessie will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, April 12, 2014 while at the Palliative Care Unit of the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay at the age of 87.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Gene Bauman, and is predeceased by her daughter Carol Connell. Loving mother of Lynn Sutherland (George), Wendy Woynillowicz (Ted), David Bauman, Gail Bartosik (Henry), and John Bauman-Fortin (Sylvia), and mother-in-law of Bob Connell. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Ray and Don Post. Remembered always by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Trinity United Church, 6 King Street West, Omemee on Saturday, April 26th from 12:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service in the Church at 1:00 p.m.

Predeceased by her husbands Earl Hartwick (2003) and Walter Parsons (1985).

Loving mother of Joan Appel (Larry) of Tucson, Arizona and Bob Parsons (Mary Carol) of Sauble Beach, Ontario. Devoted 'Grammy' of Heather, Jennifer, Rob and Lisa. Proud Great Grandma of Robert, Emily, Willie, Georgia and Charlie (Charlotte).

Our mother was a special lady with a 'beautiful spirit' and was loved by all.

Thelma’s family wishes to thank the staff at Gateway Haven for their outstanding care and love given to Mom over the past three years.

A Private Family Interment will be held in Lindsay, Ontario.

MOON, William Allen 'Bill' -

Passed away surrounded by love on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Bill was the husband and best friend of Sarah Jean Gardiner of Burnt River, ON. 

After a tough battle with kidney disease, Bill’s life ended in much the same way he lived it – fearlessly, painfully and with the strong heart of a lion. 

His “larger than life” presence will be missed and mourned by his children; Stephane Moon of Smith Falls, ON, Amanda Moon of Gatineau, QUE and Zachary and Jennifer Moon of Lindsay, ON.

Bill will be missed in the years that come by his grandchildren Hailie, Samantha, Vanessa, Cody, Dylan, Emma, Sophia and Max.  Predeceased by granddaughter Brianna (2006).

Bill (or B.J. as his family called him) is survived by his mother Beverly Martin (Steve) of Nanaimo, BC and his father Bill Moon Sr. (Louise) of Red Water, AB.  He is mourned by his brother James Orser (Gloria) of Kingston, ON and sisters Joanne Brewer (Rod) of Edmonton, AB and Shandra Huard (Lionel) of Nanaimo, BC.

Bill will be missed by the many members of Sarah’s family who grew to know and love him – Les Gardiner, Dale and Lewis Jackson, April and Daniel Parfit, Melissa and Matthew Marr.  He is remembered by many nieces, nephews and his step brothers Joe and John Orser of Trenton, ON.

And last but not least Bill's absence is keenly felt by his “best dog ever” Lucy. 

A Memorial Reception will be held in Lindsay, on Saturday, April 26th.

Steve’s entire life revolved around his family and hockey, including travelling to games far and near. He played and coached hockey. Steve worked with his family at J.K. Devitt Services in Bobcaygeon as a mechanic and operator.

Much loved father of Michael Busse and his wife Jennifer of Brampton.

Treasured grandfather of Michelle (Marty), Tosha, Chrysta and Christopher. Cherished great grandfather of Jory, Cody, Shaeleigh, Wyatt, Marcus, Austin and Evan and great great grandfather of Avalee.

John was a member of Council for Emily Township, he was a member of the Omemee Business Improvement Association where he helped organize the Santa Claus Parade for many years, he was a member of the Emily Historical Society where he helped to get the history book “Lilies and Shamrock” into print, he was an active member in his community where he helped with things like the St. Patrick’s Concert in Downeyville and he loved to sing in the St. Luke’s Choir and when he moved to Lindsay, he would sing in the St. Mary’s Choir.

In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mary’s Church, Lindsay on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 A.M. with a brief visitation just prior to the Funeral Mass.

 Following the Funeral Mass, a reception will be held at St. Mary’s School Hall. Interment later at St. Luke’s Cemetery, Downeyville.

Funeral Service will be held in Fenelon Falls on Thursday, April 10th. Interment.

Sexsmith_JamesIt is with great sadness that the family announces his passing on Monday, April 7, 2014.  Jim passed away peacefully at his home in Cameron with his family by his side.

Beloved husband of Jean (nee Kelbrick). Jim was dearly loved by his children; James of Cameron, Catherine Dewhurst (Andrew) of Ajax, Jeffrey (Dana) of Lindsay and Carol Murphy (Greg) of Lindsay.

He was a loving and dedicated sports fan of his grandchildren; Jamie Dewhurst (Chloe) of Brooklin, Jennifer Dewhurst of Moncton, NB., Anthony Sexsmith (Amy) of Lindsay, Austin Murphy of Lindsay and predeceased by his granddaughter Alicia Sexsmith. He was a great grandpa of Jacob, Nicholas and Ryan.

Jim was born in 1928 to Marguerite and Frank Sexsmith. He was predeceased by his twin brother Jack and by his sisters Evelyn Nicholson and Dorothy Brickman. He is survived by his sisters Mary Belanger, Helen Sweeney and Marge Simon and by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Jim possessed a quiet personality but to those who were fortunate enough to know him, knew of his gentle sense of humour, dedication and kindness to others and a commitment to excellence in his craftsmanship. A long time employee of Beaver Lumber, Jim retired to the home he built and shared with Jean, his wife of 56 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205) on Thursday, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM, and on Friday, April 11th from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mary's Church, Lindsay at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lindsay.

Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM.

Beloved wife of the late Lloyd McNeely.

Loving mother of Sylvia (John Hill) of Wilberforce. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Val, Melissa, Lorne, Gary, Brian, Ed and Gail and by her great grandchildren William, Ryeanna, Allen, David, Burt and Christine.

Dear sister of Mary and Elsie. Also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her son Gilbert.

Gladys enjoyed baking and making bread. She volunteered at the Red Cross Hospital at Wilberforce and was faithful member of Harcourt Community Chapel.

Friends are invited to call at the Harcourt Community Chapel, 1054 Old Harcourt Road, Harcourt, Ontario on Wednesday morning, April 9th from 10 until time of Funeral Service at 11 o'clock. Interment later in South Wilberforce.
