Cook_PhyllisEntered into rest in Peterborough on Sunday, September 21st, 2014. She had recently moved to Royals Gardens in Peterborough, but was a long-time resident of Lindsay. Phyllis was in her 89th year.

She is predeceased by her parents George and E. Maud Wood of Fenelon Falls, her brother Meredith Wood (Molly), her infant sister Rosalyne and her eldest daughter Sharon Woolsey.

Phyllis was the beloved wife for more than 65 years of Thomas Cook and the loving mother of Sharon Woolsey (Gord), Kathy Pakenham (Bob), Susan Hamer (David) and Leo Cook (Leslie Gifford-Cook).

She was the proud grandmother of Taryn and Chris Woolsey, Susie Pakenham (Matt MacKinnon), Carrie Hamer-Jonkhout (Jason Jonkhout) and Laura Hamer. She was also the delighted great-grandmother of David MacKinnon.

Phyllis succumbed to a courageous battle with cancer over the past year and with dignity, acceptance and good humour gave her family and friends the great gift of a wonderful last year.

Phyllis was an avid and talented gardener with interest and involvement in the Lindsay Horticultural Society and the Lindsay Lilac Garden and Festival. She was drawn to history and genealogy and had been active in LACAC. She was a long-term employee of the Town of Lindsay. She was a multi-talented crafter and had wide interest in politics, world affairs and sports.

Her family was her greatest passion and we would like to thank those who took wonderful care of her during her illness. This includes the exemplary staff of Royals Gardens who accommodated beyond measure, the professional and caring support of the Palliative Care Team at PRHC during her last few days and the gentle care, guidance and intervention of her Doctors Vorster (Lindsay) and Ragaz (Peterborough) and their staffs for kindness and help.

She was a woman with a keen mind and opinion and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held in Lindsay on Friday, September 26th.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Treasured grandmother of 6 grandchildren Deanna, Katharine, Matthew, Karen, John and Jamie, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

Dear sister of Edward (Ted) McMahon and his wife Verna of Blackstock and predeceased by her brothers Ritchie and Wesley McMahon and by her sister Ruth McLaughlin.  Dear sister-in-law of the late Jeanne McMahon. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Ed, in his 61st year, will be sadly missed and forever cherished by his wife Jane (nee Price) and their three children Laura, Natalie and Brodie.

Predeceased by his parents James and Mary McMorrow.

Ed will always be remembered by his brothers and sister, Bill, Bernard, Kevin (Janet), Dan, Anne Marie (Eldon) Werry and predeceased by his brother John.

Fondly remembered by his brothers- & sisters-in-law Marilyn (Percy) Luther, Doug (Yvonne) Price, Dianne (Brian) Barrett and Mary-Lou (Bob) Hughes.

His amazing sense of humour will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ed's spirit will be forever in our hearts.

Dear mother of Carol Anderson (Ken) of Toronto, Art Staples of Napanee, Gerald "Jake" Staples of Ft. St. John, B.C., Bill Staples (Ilona) of Toronto and Kathy Mahony (Don) of Toronto.

Grandmother of Steven (Maria), Joanne, James (Megan), Jeffrey (Jesse), Peter and Bradley. Great grandmother of Christopher, Liam, Tomas, Jack, Marcus and Samuel. Sister of Gwen Graham, Noble Beebe and Marie Nelson. Will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Always active in the community, Florence spent most of her life in Lindsay. She was a committed volunteer with seniors, visiting and playing the piano/organ for sing-alongs and church services. She enjoyed travel with Jack, attended many Elderhostels and she and an equally intrepid friend made an expedition on their own to India. Her last four years were spent in Peterborough, where she was active in her Seniors' residence and made many new friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 24th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at   COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough.

A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday September 25th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of PRINCESS GARDENS, 100 Charlotte Street.

Survived by her ever loving husband Cleo (Ben) Cameron, daughter Paula, son in law Keiron, sister Lorna, and predeceased by sisters Barbara, Janet and brother William (Bill).

Judi is and will forever be a true modern renaissance woman. She was continuously on top of the game of life.

Whether it be in her career or at home, she had the passion and tremendous talent for fashion, theatre, cuisine, entertaining, travel, literature and of course crossword puzzles! Judi will be missed but never forgotten and we thank her for all the brilliant memories we share. We love you.

Loved sister of Howard Jr. (Cheryl Ann), Fabian, and David (Gail). Dear aunt of Ashley (Travis), Mollie, Rob, Amy (Jason) and great aunt of Claudia, Hayley, Breanna, Jaylen, Gracelynn, Wesley, and great great aunt of Mia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary's Church, 40 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Tuesday, September 16th at 2:00 p.m. Interment.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Victoria Manor Home for the Aged would be appreciated by the family.

Remembered by her sister Ann and her husband Gordon Currins, daughter-in-law Mary Bray and sister in-in-law Doris Maunder.

Predeceased by her husband Clayton Bray 1992, her son Doug, sister Marie and her husband Clare Parsons and brother Clifford Maunder.

Funeral Service will be held in Lindsay on Monday, September 15th.

Loving mother of Keith (Cheryl) of Morriston, Larry (Gisele) of Brampton, Debbie (Morris Hughes) of Meaford, Cathy (Rolf) Paul of London, Randy (Debbie) of Red Deer, Edward (Jo-Anne) of Lindsay, Chris of Oakwood, and Kevin (Tara) of Orangeville and the late Carl (1971) and Rick (2007). Loving daughter of the late Francis Pilkington and Elizabeth Coughlin.

Loving sister of Dennis Pilkington (Dorothy) of Harriston, Peter Pilkington of Uxbridge, Patricia (Stan) Lucas of Downeyville, and half sister of Maureen (Gene Gmitrowicz) and Bonnie (Paul Schmitz) and sister-in-law of Mary (late Irel), Dawn (late Joe), Colleen (late Mike) and Elsie (late Paul).

Predeceased by brothers Tom, Jim (Joan) and John and by her sisters Norah (Tom Marshall) and Kay (Leo Hamelin) and half sister Anne Bird.

Treasured grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 10.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205) on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.  Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Friday afternoon at 3:00 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial from St. Mary's Church, Lindsay on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 A.M. Cremation to follow.  Interment later at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lindsay.

Passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer at the Palliative Care Unit Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the age 83.

Beloved wife of the late Bert Rea (1993). 

Loving mother of Joeann (the late David Ellis (2011)) and Jerry (Sherry). Grandma of Courtney and Christopher Ellis, Lindsay and Madison Rea. Special friend of Bud Bryans. 

Survived by sisters Dorothy (Tom Ellis predeceased) of Chatham and Irene (Lewis Sweet predeceased) of Bancroft and brother Gerald Trumble (Frances predeceased) of Gunter, Ontario.

Predeceased by her parents Maryann and Harry Trumble, sisters Violet (Earl Wilson also predeceased) and Mary Reid. Verna will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. 

The Funeral Service will be held in Lindsay, on Saturday, September 13th.

Tierney_JohnWith great sadness the family of John Tierney announces his passing on September 9, 2014 after a brief and courageously fought battle with cancer.

Left behind to miss him deeply are his wife Sue, his children Jean Peet (Jay), Mat, Shannon, and stepson Keith Vellucci. He will be missed by his grandchildren Tyler, Branden, Nolan and Autsin Peet.

Also sadly missed by his brother Tom (Sue), Mike (Morag), and his sister Sally Bramwell (Keith), and his brother and sisters in law Keith and Andrea Miller, Andrew and Natalie Miller, Steve and Kelly Miller and Brenda and John McGovern.

He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and relatives in England.

The family would like to extend its thanks to the nurses, doctors and all the support staff of Haliburton Highlands Health Centre, with special thanks to Dr. Kristi Gammon for all her care and support. Thanks also to the caring staff of CCAC and SIRCH.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of John's Life will be held in Brampton, Ontario at a later date.

Survived by her sons Michael, Eric (Margaret) and Marvin O’Connor (Thomas Balsillie); 8 grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother Bill (Janet) Stuebing as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Predeceased by her husband Arnold Tobin; son William; sisters Francis Aylott and Helen Norris.

Funeral Services were held in Bobcaygeon, on Sunday, September 14th.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society.
