YFF, Glennys Ann Yff Obituary | Print |

YFF, Glennys Ann -

Yff_GlennysOur dear Mom, Gramma, Great-Gramma, relative, friend, neighbor and faithful servant of her loving God has moved to her forever home in Heaven.

She passed away in the early morning hours of March 25, 2015 at Henley House (nursing home) in St Catharines. She was in her 90th year and had moved from her Hamilton home in January.

She has joined her high school sweetheart, Rev. Peter J. Yff (1980) and beloved Parents (Anna & Ray Lane). She will be greatly missed by her daughter Kathy (Leanna) and her son Brian (Edie), granddaughters Brenda (Martin) and their children (Natacha, Michel Brian, Myriam) and Sabrina (Joey) and their children (Ocean, Sierra). She is also survived by her brother Calvin (Jane), cousin Renee (Bob) plus other relatives & friends living in Canada and the USA.

The family would like to especially thank Pastor Stan & her "second family" at Westdale Reformed Church for the kind support throughout her recent journey and since moving here in 1971. A special thanks to neighbour Rick and landscaper/friend Richard who helped Glennys to stay in her own home that she loved. In the few months prior to her move to Henley House, 24/7 physical care and companionship was provided by Tammy and her staff Tonya + Marlene, which gave the family relief and comfort which was truly appreciated.

Glennys was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she attended Christian elementary school through high school and went on to become a Medical Laboratory Technologist and began work at a local hospital. She married husband Peter in 1948 and began a life of service to the Lord with all of the roles and responsibilities of a Minister's wife. This calling did involve moves to western Canada, small towns in Iowa, back to Michigan and finally to Hamilton, Ontario.

Her husband died in service to the Lord in 1980. Glennys was torn whether to stay in Hamilton because her children had settled in the area or return to her hometown of GR. This pull to GR never left her, but she enjoyed a quiet and purposeful life. She never lost her interest in the medical field, volunteering at McMaster University Hospital (Hamilton) for many years and for a number of years worked in the Registrars' Office of McMaster University (Hamilton) until retirement.

In her retirement years, she enjoyed her flower gardens, many crafts including furniture refinishing and decoupage. In recent years, Glennys enjoyed visiting with family/friends, quiet times of reading and just being at home with her cat Ginger.

A celebration of her life and service to her Lord will take place on Saturday, March 28th at 1:30pm at Westdale Reformed Church, 201 Paradise Road North, Hamilton. A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow the service in the Church social hall. Please join the family, if able.

A graveside service and interment with husband Peter will take place in her hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday, March 30that 1:00 pm.
