In his 99th year, Al passed peacefully at Linhaven Home for the Aged on Friday, March 6th, 2015 while surrounded by his son Craig, daughter Holly and son-in-law Tom.

Proud Papa of Emma-Kate and Elizabeth Baker. Al was predeceased by his wife Norma (2007).

Dear brother of Tony, Frank, Agnes, Bert and John. Brother-in-law to Margaret Kretz, Nancy Haworth and Nan O'Brien. Predeceased by his siblings Walther, Ann, Alphonse, Theresa, Sr. Mary, John, Joe and Conrad.

Born in Switzerland on May 7, 1916 to Sophie and Conrad Kretz, Al emigrated to Canada in 1923 with his family. Al worked at GM for many years and spent his retirement travelling and enjoying his gardens. He was a devoted member of St. Alfred Parish for over 50 years, where he was an usher and dedicated supporter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Al also volunteered with the Out of the Cold program for many years.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, March 9th at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines at 11am. Rite of Committal following.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Linhaven Home who cared for Al so lovingly.

Dad always supported those who were in need and so, in accordance with his wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society -St. Alfred Conference - would be appreciated by the family.

Rutherford_JimPassed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Joseph Brant Hospital in his 90th year, after a brief illness.

Jim was born on a dairy farm in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Jim Served in the Canadian Air Force as an air gunner in 1945. Jim moved to Grimsby and was a Principal in the Wentworth County Board of Education for many years.

Jim is predeceased by his wife Norma (Marlow), his brother Douglas and his sister Anne.

He will be missed by his daughter Mary (John) and Joan (Ron). Loving Grandfather of Julie (Liviu), Louise (David), Rachelle, Joseph, Evelyn, Jamie and Madelaine. Great-grandfather of Sophia, Eleanore, Emmet and Abigail.

Thanks to the care from the nurses on 4S, the doctors at the Joseph Brant Hospital and the special care he received from the staff at Park Avenue Manor in Burlington during his last 5 years living there.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 156 Main St. W., Grimsby on Thursday, March 12th at 1 p.m. Spring interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Mary Josephine Flynn (Registered Nurse) born April 12, 1924, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2015 at Upper Canada Lodge, NOTL, Ontario.

Mary was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and grew up in the Niagara area before starting her nursing career. After training at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Mary worked in several hospitals throughout Canada and the United States, including: GNGH in Niagara Falls, Ontario and New York; Washington D.C.; Truro, Nova Scotia; and Moosonee Ontario.

Mary leaves two sisters, Patricia Flynn, in Ottawa, and Stella Rodgers in NOTL; nieces and nephews, Maureen Singh, Kathleen Hall, Kevin King, David King, Michael Rodgers, David Rodgers, and Cam Rodgers. She also leaves old friends, Rose and Mel Lalonde and others.

A special thank-you to the nurses and staff at Upper Canada Lodge and Dr. Bertie for the loving care provided to Mary over the last several years.

Passed away suddenly, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Welland Hospital, in his 68th year.

Beloved husband for 45 years of Maureen. Cherished father of Michelle (Jay) Davis and the late Scott (Amanda). Devoted grandfather of Sarah, Jesse, Tyler, Connor, Cameron, and Madeline. Great-grandfather of Shailen and Seth.

Dear brother of Ann Droganes (the late Peter), Linda (Greg) Dick and the late David (Diane). Predeceased by his parents; Forbes and Jacqueline Gill. Paul will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

He was employed with both Cyanamid and Dana prior to his retirement.

Paul's family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10th from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St., St. Catharines (905-684-6346). A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow.

Grandmother to Kristen and Leslie King of London, Ontario. Step-grandmother to Jennifer Witzel (Smith) and Dan of Woodstock and Benjamin Smith and Alina of Meerdörfer, Germany.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Alex and her parents Mike and Mary Hanuschuk. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

At Anne’s request there will be no visitation and a private service will be held in Port Colborne with burial to follow.

Peacefully on March 4th, 2015 at the greater Niagara General Hospital in his 88th year with his family at his side. His spirit has now gone to be with his God and saviour and is at rest.

He leaves his loving Joan (nee Ings) of Niagara Falls and loving father of Larry Field of Tampa Florida and Nancy Boan of Winnipeg, Manitoba and grandfather of Aileen-Boan of Winnipeg and Jena Boan of Regina. Great grandfather of Ethan and Edric.

Predeceased by his parents Walter and Jessie Field in 1981 & 1987 respectively.

Walt was born in Niagara Falls in 1927. He attended Kitchener Street Public School and N.F.C.V.I. before working for Bright's Wines and the Borden Company. He joined Kimberly Clark of Canada in 1958 and the family was transferred to Winnipeg in 1960 and he retired from K.C. in 1983 and had many wonderful retirement years.

The family had a cottage at Lake of the Woods (Kenora, Ontario) for many years and spent the summers there fishing, boating and having a particularly great time with family especially with the grandchildren. During the winter Joan and Walt returned to Niagara Falls and spent six weeks or so from the Falls visiting many Caribbean Islands, particularly Barbados for many years.

In 1994 the cottage in Kenora was sold. They bought a place in central southern Florida and spent many complete winters there. During the last 40 or so years of Walt's life he had a close association with family even as they were in different parts of North America. All in all Walt had a wonderful blessed life with many friends and family togetherness.

Walt and Joan were married in CHRIST CHURCH, 4750 Zimmerman Avenue in Niagara Falls in 1951 and Walt's Funeral Service is to be held there on Thursday, March 12th at 1:30pm. The service is to be conducted by Reverend Father Paul Maynard and Interment will follow in Fonthill, Ontario.

Donations can be made to the Christ Church Renewal Plan and Fund.

Sarah was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League of St Mary’s Church. Her joy in life was her family and she was an exceptional mother and grandmother.

Loving son of Armando and Lina Stranges and son-in-law of Shirley Johnson, Joe and Nancy Hauzer. Much loved brother of Clara (Albert) Chamberlain, Tony Stranges and Sue (Anthony) Nicoletti. Dear brother-in-law of Anne Marie Hauzer and Suzanne Hauzer. Dearly loved uncle of Natalie Chamberlain, Giuliana Nicoletti, Rosalina Nicoletti, Holly and Carina Stranges.

Dear nephew of Antonio (Elisabetta) Stranges and Nicola (Rose) Stranges. Dear cousin of Nick (Meredith) Stranges, Domenic (Mary) Stranges, Clara (Roberto) DiGiovanni and Nick (Jody) Stranges. Domenic also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins in Italy and Australia.

Predeceased by his sister Rosetta and her husband David Higham.

Domenic had worked in construction as a journeyman lather for Panoramic Properties where he will be sadly missed by his many friends and co-workers. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking traditional Italian meals and loved spending time with his family.

She was born in Fort Erie on August 7, 1931 and graduated from Niagara Falls General School of Nursing in 1953. She worked at hospitals in Toronto and Calgary and returned to Niagara Falls in 1960. Margaret was head nurse on Unit C GNGH for 26 years retiring in 1986 after 33 years of nursing. She was instrumental in initiating the in "hospital" Cardiac Rehab Program with Heart Niagara 1976.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Scapular Church and C.W.L.

Margaret was predeceased by her mother Gertrude (Bremner) Hickey, her father Herman Hickey, brother Donald Hickey, step-mother Virginia Hickey and step-sister Veronica Suda, good friend Dr. "Bud" G.L. Hadley and her beloved cats Charlie and precious Maggie Sue.

She is survived by her special niece Debbie (Les) Scott of N.O.T.L., nephews Danny (Lisa) Hickey, Donnie (Sarah) Hickey, sister-in-law Thelma Hickey, great-nephews Lorne (Sarah) Scott, Benjamin, Gus and Christopher Hickey, great-nieces Jillian (Jay) Hammond, Charlotte, Emily and Evelyn Hickey, great, great-nephews Hudson and Quinton Hammond, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt Connie Shaw and cousin Karen Gates in Fort Erie and Margaret’s beautiful cat Goldie.

Margaret will be missed by dear friends Fran and Sam Long and family, Colleen Brown and the Brown family, Elda DeSimone-Ireland, Ria Scholtens and many other friends and past co-workers. She was a great animal lover and a faithful fan of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.

Special thanks to Dr. Dan Dargavel and Dr. Y.K. Chan for the years of care and compassion. The family wishes to thank Elda DeSimone-Ireland for all her care, love, help and compassion. Words cannot express our appreciation. We also thank the staff of Eventide Home for their care and love of Aunt Marg.

Family and friends will be received at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil will be held at 3 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Scapular Church, Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow.

Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Heart Niagara, GNGH Foundation or the NF Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

Dearly loved son of Robert and the late Patricia Johnson and son-in-law-of Willy and the late Matilda Blaich. Dear brother of Debi (James) Eastland, Cheryl (Kitch) Howard and Linda (Joe) Marchio. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brother Bobby Johnson, his nephew Michael Johnson and his sister-in-law Lori McGuire.

Jamie had worked at Post Foods, retiring after 29 years of service.

Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls for visiting Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.

She is reunited with her late husband George (Duro) Krakar (1994).

Beloved mother of Nikola and his wife Ann Krakar of Stoney Creek, Ankica and her husband Mate Paskvalin of Hamilton, and Marica and her husband Josip Jajcinovic of Croatia. Cherished grandmother of Bruno (Monika) Krakar, Annette (Andre) Hrvatin, Linda (Vlado) Carapina and John (Melissa) Paskvalin, and Ilija (Maja) Jajcinovic, and Marijana (Goran) Roksa.

Loving great-grandmother of Jessica, Nicholas, Anthony, Stipe, Mate, Simona, Ilijana, Ema and Ivana. Will be lovingly remembered by her nephew John and nieces Kathy and Maryann.

Predeceased by her sister-in-law Helen (Jelica) and her husband Marko Krakar. Helen leaves behind many family and friends here in Canada and in Croatia.

Visitation will be held at J. J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday, March 6th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held at 8 o’clock.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Croatian Roman Catholic Parish of St. Anthony of Padova on Saturday at 11 o’clock. Rite of Committal at the family plot.

Also known as the “Avon Lady” of Port Colborne, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the age of 72 years.

Beloved wife of Ken Stuart, loving mother of David (Annette) Stuart of Hamilton and Dan Stuart of Port Colborne, dear grandmother of Cassandra Stuart, Victoria Stuart and Brenna Dougan, sister of Bob Hurst and Barb Weaver (nee Hurst) both of Port Colborne. Fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.

Donna was predeceased by her parents Milton and Evelyn Hurst.

She was a life time member of the Church of Christ.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of 2 West at the Port Colborne General Hospital for their wonderful care.

By Donna’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Arrangements out of Port Colborne. A private interment service will be held at a later date.

Passed from this world into the next into the waiting arms of his mother Josephine (1998), father Alex (1991) and brother John (2003) with his brothers and best friends Peter (Barbara Ann) and Gordon at his side.

Special Uncle to Katherine Ann Morningstar, Peter (Patricia) Kostyk, Michael Kostyk, Alissa Marie (Jennifer Rothenberg) Kostyk, Gordon (Jennifer) Kostyk, Jamie (Elizabeth) Canning and Jennifer Canning. He will also be remembered by his great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and co-workers at Stamford Fireplaces.

Junior was the former co-owner of the Niagara Falls Mariners Intercounty Baseball Club and was Heater Lavelle's assistant during Molson's NHL Slow-Pitch era. Junior was an avid Buffalo Bills and Chicago Cubs fan and loved his trips to Florida with his buddies from Clancy's. He will be especially missed by his best friend Max#2 and his family of squirrels.

A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will be celebrated in Niagara Falls on Wednesday. Cremation will follow.

Passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, March 2nd, 2015 at the St. Catharines Hospital at the age of 83.

Beloved wife of the late Stan.

Cherished mother of Chuck (Brenda) Milne, Michael ("Mickey")Milne, Kelly (Marvin) Mimms and David Torosian. Loving grandma ("Ma") of Christine, Jason, Carrie, Natasha, Brandon, Courtney, Abby, Lisa (Nick) and Justin. Great grandma of Carter. She will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Wills. She is predeceased by her sister Mary and her brothers Nick, George, Billy and John.

Dolly was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan. She was very happily employed as a Walmart greeter for 10 years. Dolly will always be remembered for her strong family values and her strong love of her family. Her grandchildren were the backbone of her life.

A sincere thank you to all of the 3rd floor nurses and the doctors at the St. Catharines Hospital for all their care and compassion.

A Celebration of Dolly' s Life will take place in St. Catharines on Friday. Burial to follow.
