Biggs_Lorne(1923 - 2014) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Emerson Biggs on Thursday August 21, 2014 at Millennium Trail Manor.

Beloved husband of the late Jeanne Louise (Logan) Biggs (1995).

Loved father of Barbara Biggs, David iggs (Daphne). Dear grandfather of Melanie Reed (Jim) and Lexi Dewar (David) and great grandfather of Anne, Liam and Brielle. Lorne is survived by his brother George (Joy) and will be missed by his longtime companion Joan London.

Resting at the HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave., Niagara Falls  where the family will receive friends Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9pm.

The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 5645 Morrison St. on Tuesday August 26th at 11 AM. Interment Fairview Cemetery.

GILLARD, Ruth Josephine (nee Kwolek) -

With her family at her side, my wife Ruth sadly passed away on Thursday, August 21st, 2014 at the age of 58. Ruth put up a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Doug, sister Suzanne, brother Mark and his wife Margaret. Ruth will also be missed by my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.

She was a great lover of nature - birds, wild flowers, trees and especially the squirrels she fed everyday. Ruth and I loved to hike and completed the Bruce Trail in 2005. We started the trail again and made it to almost the halfway point before she got sick. Ruth, I will carry your hiking stick to the finish!

Arrangements out of St. Catharines. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26th at St. Denis Church at 11a.m. Rite of Committal to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Beloved husband of Jean Godden for 66 years. Cherished father of Ross Godden (Gloria), Bob Godden (the late Shaaron), the late Alan Godden, Debbie Godden (Al), Sandy Richard (George), and Theresa Randall (Steve).

Proud and devoted grandfather of 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Ross will also be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Olive and Roy and his three sisters and one brother.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed.

Funeral Service will be held in Grimsby on Monday, August 25th. Cremation to follow.

Cherished Grannie of Scott (Miria) McDonald, Brad (Sandra) Beachin, Megan (Colin) Turnbull, Nicci (Rich) Hingley, and Jenni Anderson (Ian Cheyne). Proud great-grandmother of Daniel, Steven, Gabriel, Aiden, Ashton, Victoria, Mitchell, Isabella, Grace, and Abi.

Helen was known to many as the "Fudge Lady from Plymouth Avenue."

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, August 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, August 25th from 12 p.m. until service time at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346).

A Funeral Service will then be held at on Monday, August 25th at 1 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 83 Church St.  Cremation will follow. A private family interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

Brother of Aurèle and his wife the late Olive of Brossard, QC, Hélène and her husband the late Albert Brazeau of Orleans, ON, Henri and his wife Odette of Ottawa, ON; and Marie-Rose and her husband Jean Rozon of Brossard, QC.

He is predeceased by his oldest brother Jean-Paul of Lorraine, QC, and will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Yvette (Jean-Paul`s wife), Gisèle Boulay of Niagara Falls, Vivian Lascelle of Iroquois Falls, ON, many nieces, nephews, several Godchildren and friends.

Roland was a member of the Paroisse St. Antoine De Padoue, Knights of Columbus (Council 9253), Club Sourire and Club Alouette, all of Niagara Falls.

Arrangements out of Niagara Falls. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Paroisse St. Antoine De Padoue, 4570 Portage Road. Rite of Committal will follow at a later date in Alfred, Ontario.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Carbone on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the age of 88. Mrs. Carbone passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Loving wife to Pasquale Carbone. Loving mother to Linda (Paul) of Niagara Falls, Albert (Cathy) of Toronto, Fred of Niagara Falls and John (Karen) of Toronto. Devoted nonna to her grandchildren Rita, Maximo, Luea, Liam and Emma. Devoted great- grandmother to Matthew and Christina.

Survived by her sister Gilda of Sault Ste Marie, also survived by her brother-in-law Allegro (Christina) of Thorold. Predeceased by her brothers Francesco and Pasquale and by her sisters Maddelena and Ida. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Also remembered by Kit Kat family.

Mrs. Carbone immigrated to Canada in 1949 from Figline Vegliaturo, Cosenza, Italy.

Mrs. Carbone worked for Gerber Baby Foods of Niagara Falls for 25 years. She was also very involved and devoted to her church; she chartered pilgrimages to Ste. Anne De Beaupre, Quebec for 38 years. Mrs. Carbone's main devotion was to her family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 5740 Buchanan Ave., Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Monday, August 25th at 11 a.m.

In memory of Mrs. Carbone, donations would be greatly appreciated by the family to the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Loving wife of 53 years to Don Herrington. Dear mother of Don Jr. (Donna), John (Tracey), George (Michelle) and Paul (Sonja). Dearly missed by her grandchildren Kaitlynn, Nolan, Ainsley and Rachel.

Jeannine is survived by her sister Maryanne Mazerolle, brother and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Odillie Mazerolle, and siblings, Rene Mazerolle, Paul Mazerolle, Joseph Mazerolle, Fernande Veryonak and Rev. Dennis Mazerolle.

Jeannine was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered her time with the church Bereavement Committee and Cleaning Committee as well as Sir John Colborne Youth Soccer.

Arrangements out of Port Colborne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26th at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Michael Andrysiak officiating. Rite of Committal will follow.

He was a past member and active volunteer for the Lion Club of Merritton and was a former volunteer firefighter for Merritton. Wayne worked for General Motors for many years.

Morrison_DanPassed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Bella Senior Care Residence on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the age of 88.

Dan was the beloved husband of the late Leonore (Lee) Morrison (1998) and dearly loved father of Debra (John) Kennedy, Reverend Father Craig E. Morrison, O.Carm., and Laurie Morrison. He was also cherished grandfather of Amanda and Megan Kennedy.

Dan was predeceased by his sister Margaret Howard and his brothers Jack, Joseph, and Ken Morrison.

Dan loved living in Niagara Falls. Countless visitors, and especially his extended family and friends, enjoyed his warm hospitality when visiting this wonder of the world. Dan was an active member of the community and will be remembered for his service to the poor through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Community Kitchen.

Dan loved animals, especially cats and dogs. He always left the house with a few treats in his pocket for the furry four-legged friends he might encounter throughout the day.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Chapel at Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre, 7020 Stanley Avenue. Visitation will take place Sunday between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Mount Carmel Chapel on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.

Nancy passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 18th, 2014 at the age of 62, just two weeks after the death of her husband Samuel.

Proud mother of Sean (Kelly) Steele of Ridgeway and Lisa (Dave Kracht) Steele of Minnesota. Dearly loved grandmother of Brody, McKenna and Ashlynn.

Nancy devoted her life to her family and her faith as an active member of the Chippewa Presbyterian Church.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements out of Fort Erie.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary Lou, his children Richard Urquhart of Hamilton, Sharon (Mark) Bradley of Hamilton, Michael (Michelle) Urquhart of Iroquois, ON.

Also sadly missed by his grandchildren Jennifer Sime (Mathew) of Cambridge, Shawn Urquhart & Katherine Urquhart of Winnipeg, MB, Ashton Urquhart and Aaron Urquhart of Iroquois, ON, and by his great grandchildren Findley and Matilda Sime, Winter and Rowan Benoit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 22nd at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Parish, 317 Morton St., Thorold South. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Catharines.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be given to St. Vincent de Paul or to the St. Aloysius Parish.

Loving sister of Francesca (the late Bruno) Zappia, the late Giuseppe (Gracia) Temporale of Italy, Carmela (Salvatore) Larosa, Angelo (Giuseppina) Temporale of Texas, Emilia (Salvatore) Ariganello of Mississauga, Giovanna (Felice) Parrotta, Titta Temporale of Italy and Domenico Temporale. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements out of Niagara Falls. Funeral Mass in celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at the Church of St. Ann, 5740 Buchanan Ave., on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow.

Royik_NickPassed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, August 17th, 2014 at 88 years of age.

Nick came to Canada in 1948 from Ukraine. He settled in Welland and was employed with Page Hersey Tubes (Stelco) until retirement in 1988.

Beloved husband of Maria for 65 years. Loving father of Julieann (Milan) Plentai and Gerald (Tania) Royik. Cherished Dido of Tasya (Bruno) Candeloro, Sonya (Dror) Shaham, Lesya Plentai (Ravi) and proud great grandfather of Colton and Tai.

Dear brother-in-law of Julia (the late Jack) Taylor. Uncle of Lori Berry (Leonard), Greg Taylor (Joanne), Natalia Royik (Peter), Anne Spolsky, Nancy Grod and all of their families. Nick leaves behind many wonderful neighbours, as well as many nieces and nephews in Ukraine.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Goswami and the nurses on the 6th floor of the Welland Hospital, (especially Corinne and Sherry.)

Funeral service in Welland on Saturday, September 6th. Interment at a later date.

Brother of Mildred Healey and Andja [1929]; Ujak of Mitchell Schenkel. Much loved uncle, great-uncle and great-great uncle of the Schenkel, Krga, Badovinac, Bucar, Kremesic [Marinovich], Bilich and Pavelich families.

He loved his family, was a proud Serb and a champion at whisker rubs and stealing noses. Love you, laku no?.

Arrangements out of Niagara Falls. Funeral will be held Saturday at St. George & Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church where service at 12 p.m. Interment.
