He was predeceased by his loving wife Filomena (2007).

He will be forever cherished by sons and daughters Mary Torchia (Frank), Philip, Felice (Judy), Tony (Vivianne), Rose Leger (Keith) and Angelo.

Loving Nono of Peter Torchia (Laura), Adrianna Rowe (Doug), Tessa Noyes (Kenny), Michael, Sean (Sarah), Tricia Middlemiss (Rob), Karl and Matthew, Melissa, Amy, Alex and great Nono to Kristen, Katherine, Mckenna, Hunter, Andrew, Michael, Kyle, Lexi and Meila.

Dear brother of Frank and Yolanda of Italy. Giuseppe will be re-united with Filomena, his sisters Josephine, Franny and his brother Tony, in the heavens above, along with his nephew Benny. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements out of Welland. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 28th at 1:30 p.m. Rite of Committal to follow.

Beloved wife for 78 years of the late Nunzio D’Onofrio (2011).

Cherished mother of Antoinette and Nick (Martine). Proud and loving nonna of Marissa Siemens (Drew) and Christina D’Onofrio. She is predeceased by her parents Michele and Annavita, 2 infant sons Peter and Michele as well as her twin infant daughters Maria and Carmella.

Dear sister of the late Antonio Colitti (Filomena), the late Filomena Ortenzio (Giustino) and the late Giacinta DiCristofaro (Giovanni).

Born in Castropignano, Italy, she moved to Canada in 1952. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, especially her homemade pasta and tortellini as well as her personal sacrifices, selflessness and uncompromising devotion to her family.

Arrangements out of Welland. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 28th at 10 o’clock. Rite of Committal to follow.

Gouthro_JeanIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean at age 87 at the St. Catharines Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on May 24, 2013.

Jean’s generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family. She lived her life with integrity and honesty.

Jean was born April 7, 1926 in Brighton, England to Arthur and Harriett Burberry. She was the youngest of four children. She was a war bride, moving to Florence, Nova Scotia soon after her marriage to Louis Gouthro in Brighton, England on May 24, 1945.

Her first love and soul mate, Louis died in 1973.  Later, Jean shared her life with her best friend, Richard Woods who died in 1993.

A loving mother, Jean’s life revolved around her family and her home.  Treasured memories abound. Jean will be sadly missed by her three sons: Stephen (Mary), Eric (Linda) and Donnie (Isabelle). Special Nana to eight grandchildren: Jason, Sandra Dee (Art Buck), Brian, Taylor, Robbie (Julie ),Christy (Justin), Jonathan and Tyler(Courtney) ;11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers in law as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank the Loyalist Retirement Home for the loving and attentive care they provided which Jean appreciated so much.

Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a Celebration of her Life on June 11th at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at 1:30pm.

Expressions of sympathy, in the form of donations, may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of the time we spent with her.

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Mae Kubu (nee Oswald) announces her passing on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Grimsby, ON.

Born in Waterloo on April 15, 1924 to the late Nelda and Oscar Oswald, Mae is survived by her husband of 67 years Edward Kubu and siblings Jean Piper (Roy 2002), Ken Oswald (Dolly) and John Oswald (Shirley). Her ready laugh and sense of humour was passed on to her daughters - Anne (Bruce Krushelnicki) and Mary (Ralf Himmrich) and grandchildren Rachel, Joseph, Riley and Curtis.

Mae married Edward Kubu in 1945 just after Ed returned from the war. They had met a few years before at the Waterloo band shell and had a long distance romance while he was overseas. Mae learned to embrace Ed's outdoor lifestyle with frequent family camping/canoeing trips in northern Ontario - especially Killarney Provincial Park.

Mae was known for her homemade pies with freshly picked berries while on such trips and more than once shared a berry patch with a bear while picking. She managed the office for United Step and Metal Products outside Hamilton for many years and enjoyed travelling to the UK and Europe as well as winters in South Carolina. She was a woman who loved the challenge of crosswords, was interested in current events and was a mean Scrabble player - but most important a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

The family would like to express its gratitude to Mae's wonderful Winona neighbours and the caring staff at WLMH.

No funeral is planned.

Born on April 28, 1947 in Saint John, NB, he grew up and lived most of his life in Fredericton. Keith was a businessman and had a passion for power line construction, working for many years as a journeyman linesman.

An avid conversationalist, Keith also enjoyed music, boating, and drag racing. He spent many hours with his children as a hockey coach and enjoying many vacations of camping, canoeing and fishing.

Keith was predeceased by his parents, Hon. Dr. John Frederick McInerney and his mother Edith Vera (Bedford) McInerney.

He is survived by his brother, Fred (Allison) and his five children Lyn (Troy) MacFarlane of Waasis, NB, Kirk (Tara) and John (Mackenzie) of Fonthill, ON, James of Toronto, ON, Ryan (Nicole) of Georgetown, ON and their mother Alice (Dion) McInerney of Fredericton, NB. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren.

Funeral service will take place in Fonthill, Ontario on Wednesday, May 29th. Interment will follow at Fonthill.

Loving father of Willow Johnston (Rick) and Bill Holowacz (Sophie). Forever cherished by his granddaughters Chelsea, Amanda and Tara Lynn Johnston, and Zoe, Charlotte, and Alexandra Holowacz. Dear friend of Dawne Eros.

He was predeceased by parents Alex and Julia Holowacz and his brother Michael.

Mr. Holowacz was employed with municipal governments for many years before retiring in 1992. He was a Third Degree member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Council 2146. Bill played golf and darts and was an avid gardener, bridge player and a member of the Niagara District Cribbage League. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from spending time with his friends and family.

Memorial visitation and Knights of Columbus Bible devotions will be held in Welland on Monday, May 27th, followed by the funeral liturgy conducted by Rev. James Mulligan, CSC. Private interment will take place at a later time.

Cindy was unlike any other and she will be missed by many.

Beloved husband of Gladys for 69 years. Loving father of Susan Love (Brian) and Janet MacDonald (Tony Viola).  Predeceased by his son David. Cherished grandfather of Jay Sisko (Lindsay), Krista Sisko, Kara Malcolm (Ryan) and Stacey MacDonald.

Special thanks to Dorothy and Wilfred Devney, Elsie Tozer and Doris Davidson for a lifetime of memories. 

Benjamin came from a family of 15 children, survived by Jack (Vera), Kai, Helen (Al), Alex, Lawrence (June), John (Judy), Benny, Rose, and Rick (Sylvia).

Many thanks to all of you for all your special calls and visits. Special thanks to Drs. Callaghan and Deegan, the Staff of West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and the Staff and volunteers of McNally House for all of their compassion and care.

Panetta_CosimoPassed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in his 92nd year.

Cosimo was the dear brother of Paola Trimboli (Antonio), and he will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Vincenzo, Felice, Antonio, Salvatore, Domenico, Carmelo, Teresa, Marianna, Pietro, Agostino, Domenico, and Michelangelo.

Cosimo was born in Locri, Italy on October 5, 1921. He immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s and worked initially as a cook, and eventually for the Ohio Brass Company until his retirement.

Cosimo was a friend to many in Niagara Falls and beyond, and was an especially helpful mentor and guide for fellow countrymen arriving in Canada for the first time. His generosity was unlimited, and we’ll all miss his entertaining memories, stories, and recitations of Dante’s Divine Comedy.

Arrangements out of Niagara Falls. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church. The Rite of Committal will follow.

Beloved wife of the late John Sarko (2009). Cherished mother of John Sarko (late Adele) and Frank Sarko (Ruby). Proud and loving grandmother of John Sarko (Olivia Anyslie), Susan Michaud (Chris), Jenn Sarko (Zack Colangelo), Jeff Sarko (Steph) and great-grandmother of Evan and Daniel.

Dear sister of Agnes Nagy (late Joe) and Irma Geng (late Mike). Also predeceased by her parents Frank and Vera Horvath, brothers Joe (Mary), Frank, John, Anton and sister Mary.

Betty was a faithful member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, a talented seamstress and baker and an avid gardener.

The funeral service will be held in Welland on Monday, May 27th. Interment to follow in Fonthill.

Beloved husband to Lynn (nee Philpott) of 50 years. Devoted dad to Stuart (Michelle Allan), Bradley (Amber Overholt), Donald (Pamela McCulloch), and David (Susan DuGuid). Grampy to Kylie, Robbie, Jake, Nate, Chloe, Sophie, and Elliot.

Predeceased by his parents David and Virginia (nee Soper) and sister Jane.

David was an active member in the community that included being an avid curler and golfer at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club; long time member and past president of Rotary; accomplished Wealth Manager at ScotiaMcLeod. David enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cottage in Thunder Beach.

Arrangements out of St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1pm at Mountainview United Church, 150 Glendale Ave.  Private family burial to take place.

Lovingly remembered by his longtime partner Lorraine Holmes and her family; Alison, Phill, Adrian, Krista, Curtis, Kylie and Colton. Will be deeply missed by his sister and brothers in-law, Bill and Frances, Ken and Mary, Willmer and Audrey, predeceased by Stanley (Audrey).

Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, his special friend Paul Grenier and all his other friends at the Welland Arena and numerous restaurants in Welland and Port Colborne.

Bill was a longtime supporter of the Welland Junior ‘B’ Hockey Team and an active member of Central United Church.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements out of Welland.

Sadly missed by his children Sara Murdock (Steve), Brittany Szenasi (Brian), his grandchildren Makayla, Braedon, & Khloe, and by his step-son Darryl Robertson (Helen). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and extended family; and missed by his beloved dogs Missy and Winnie.

Kevin was a longtime employee of Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd.

In accordance with Kevin's wishes, cremation will take place.  Memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be held at HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls on Wednesday, May 22nd from 7 - 9 PM and again on Thursday afternoon, May 23rd from 2 – 4 PM.
