LaPenna_HeatherAfter a courageous battle with cancer, God took Heather Elizabeth LaPenna home on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, in her 49th year.

Heather was the adoring and devoted mother of Chloe Jantje and Madison Maaike.

She was the cherished daughter of Bill and Mary Koudys; dearly loved sister of Richard (Juliette) and David (Donna); and loving aunt of Sarah, Stacey, Jacob and Jessica. Heather will be missed by mant aunts and uncles, friends and colleagues.

Heather taught us to live each day true to our faith in Christ.

Arrangements out of Fonthill. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th, at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1040 Balfour Street, Fenwick from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9pm.

A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, October 25th at 11:00am.

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jack Dickson on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

Jack was the much loved husband to Eunice for the past 54 years. He leaves behind his loving daughter Diane and her husband Mark. He was beloved by his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Leanna.

He is also survived by his sister Joan (Ian), sisters-in-law Margaret and Winnifred and his brothers-in-law Sterling (Pat) and Allan.

Jack spent a lifetime building friendships and relationships. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Richard was an avid painter and writer, who loved playing cards. He loved fine foods. Richard will be remembered as a movie and television lover.

Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014 in his 87th year at Extendicare, St. Catharines, Ontario.

Loving husband of Evelyn for 66 years. Dear father of Lynne (Dan) Willette, Mark (Sheila) Bazeley, and Tim (Carol) Bazeley. Grandfather to Stephanie (Adam) Savoie, Adam (Fran) Bazeley, Laura (Brandon) Little, Jennifer (Jim) Bazeley. Great Grandfather to Myriah and Rhys Savoie, Brielle Little, Erica and David Bacon.

Predeceased by his parents William and Edith Bazeley and his brother Bill Bazeley.

Jim lived most of his life in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He enlisted in the army during the latter part of WWII and trained in Halifax, NS. After the war he worked as a mechanic with his dad at Bazeley Bear Alignment.

In 1963 he turned his love and care of animals into his business by opening Victoria Aquarium pet shop and in 1976 he began manufacturing pet collars, leads, leashes and assorted pet supplies at A brand Leather. Jim was a skilled craftsman and had a large array of KOI ponds and tropical fish. He was a founding member of CAOAC (Canadian Association of Aquarium Clubs) and won many awards for breeding varieties of fish.

The family wishes to thank Extendicare for all their help and concern.

There will be no service at the request of the deceased.

Predeceased by all her siblings Eufemia, Dominico Antonia, Guiseppe, Catarina, Antonio, Concetta and Frank. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, Italy and Australia.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Niagara on the Lake. Rite of committal will follow.

Son to the late Dara and late Milo, brother to Olga Saranovich (the late Ratko), Betty Uzelac (Eso), Anne Zelenovich (the late Marko), Dawn Muir (Paul) and Michael Kovich (Jacinta).

He was loved by his in-laws, dearly, Peter and Zora Oklobdzija, George Oklobdzija (Mary), Betty Kneis (Henry). Loving “Uncle Vic” to Lana Vujicic (Jovan), Johnny Simich (Kerri), Djuro and Bosa Uzelac, Mirjana, Milena and Dara Zelenovich, Melissa Petrilli (Daniel), Robert and Ashleigh Kovich, Rhiannon McVean (Chad), Cory Mclean, Julia, Katie and Lexi Kneis.

He was loved by everyone who met him, especially Dan Rogers, Mary Adam, Alan McEwen, Sonya Felix, and Irene Bray. He was the best father anyone could have hoped for and his three boys will always have a special bond with their amazing dad. We all miss him so much.

Maurice was predeceased by his sister Peggy Lyons; and his grandson, Trevor.

He served in the Royal Navy from 1944 - 1952 and also worked for many years at General Motors.

He is predeceased by his parents Isidoro and Giovanina and his brothers Pasquale and Basilio.

Loyal employee of General Motors of Canada for 38 years, retiring in 1992. Antonio was a kind and generous man, who enjoyed gardening and playing Bocca at the Italian Centre, and above all else his family.

Frieda will be dearly missed by her niece Biruta Carr, nephew Tony, and by many friends including those at the Loyalist here in St. Catharines.

Frieda was born Frieda Schwartz, on November 23, 1918 in Jansen, Saskatchewan, and married her husband Vince on March 10, 1951. She worked for years at Diana’s Sweets in Niagara Falls.

Service will be held in St. Catharines on Monday, October 27th. Burial to follow.

Ken enjoyed playing many sports such as baseball, curling and golf. As a resident of Dain City, Ken proudly served on many of Dain City’s councils and committees taking on various roles. He worked as an accountant at Hopkins Steel Works in Welland until his retirement.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Portal Village and Northland Pointe for their compassion and kindness over the years.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Tom. Best friend and soul mate of Karen for 21 years. Much loved and admired father, coach, and cheerleader of Dylan, Jessica, and Conner.

Tom was a respected teacher at Governor Simcoe Secondary School and very active in the SAMOR basketball program, St. Catharines Minor Baseball and Niagara Rangers Basketball.

Survived by his loving father, James McMahon of St. Catharines. Tom was predeceased by his beloved mother, Mary McMahon in 2013.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his In-laws, Fred and Helen Neufeld of Vineland; and deeply missed by his brother-in-law, Mark Neufeld and his wife Kelli Nicholson of Vineland and their daughters, Avia and Isla.

Tom will be greatly missed by his brother Wayne and Kathryn McMahon of Ft. Myers, FL, and their children David and Raja McMahon, and their son, Chase of San Diego, California, Karen McMahon of Kelowna, BC, and Bruce and Rachel McMahon of Ft. Myers, FL; brother Jim and Barb McMahon of St. Catharines, and their children Jim and Erin McMahon of Belleville, and their daughters Ella and Jenna, Mary-Ellen McMahon and Mike Emond of Thorold and their children, Madelynne and Callum, Jodi and Greg New of Thorold and their daughter Lauryn, Erin and Thies Taubeneck of Thorold and their children Matthew, Hailey and Aliana; brother Bob and Pam McMahon of Fort Erie, and their children Rob and Kelly McMahon of St. Catharines, Becky McMahon and Dan Jackman of Beamsville; sister, Patti and Julian Booth of Niagara Falls, and their children Lori and Kevin Stockman of Thorold and sons Braeden and Griffin, Alyson and George Campeau of St. Catharines and their children Taylor and Samantha; and sister Donna and Barry Snider of St. Catharines and their children, Carly Snider and Brandon McMillan of Hamilton, Jenny Snider and Mike Chudobiak of St. Catharines, and Kimmi Snider of St. Catharines.

Cremation has taken place.  Arrangements out of St. Catharines. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Bethany Community Church (1388 Third Street) at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24th.

Donations made to the Tom McMahon Children's Education Fund for Tom and Karen's children, Dylan, Jessica, and Conner (made at any Scotia Bank in St. Catharines or Thorold) or Rankin Cancer Run would be appreciated by the family.

Smith_BillIt is with much sadness that the family of Bill Smith announce his passing on Saturday, October 18, 2014, only four months after losing his dear wife Carol. Bill passed away at home with the love of his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 69.

Bill will be forever loved and missed by his daughter Ashley (Gagnon) and his son Shaun. Dear and loving son of Daisy Campion. Missed by his brother Kevin Smith (Diane). Dear son-in-law of Lorraine and Donald Blake, and brother -in-law of Donald Blake Jr.

Predeceased by his father Frederick and his brother Brian. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Bill worked with the Niagara Regional Police for 31 years. After retiring he owned and operated a by-law enforcement agency in the Niagara Region. Bill was an avid golfer who enjoyed the times with his friends at Lookout Golf Club, traveling and above all, the times spent with his family.

The funeral service to honour Bill's life will take place in Fonthill on Friday, October 24th.

Booker_LouisePassed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 17th, 2014 in her 87th year.

Beloved wife of 64 years to Cliff. Cherished Mom of Bill (Dolly), Marie (Fred) Legault, Cathy Foreman, Bob (Wendy), Jim (Tracy) and Ed (Barb). Loving Grandma of 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Louise will also be fondly remembered by her brother Paul (Lois), her sister Alice Brona, her sister-in-law Fern Alexander and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Louis and Florida, her brothers Louis (Ethel), Raymond (Jeanne), Charles (Louise), Edward, Robert (Maria), and sister Margaret (Harold) Barnhart.

Louise was a longtime parishioner and choir member of St. Julia Church. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League for 60 years. She will always be remembered for her loving and giving spirit, her smile and her blue Spanish eyes. She is now dancing with the angels.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to Dr. David A. Henry and staff for their kindness and compassion over the years.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave,. St. Catharines on Tuesday, October 21st at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lung Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Passed away at his home on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the age of 39.

He will be dearly missed by his father Hector, and his mother Linda (Brian).

Loving brother of Andrea (Adam), and step-brother of Nina (Cory), Brianna (Paul), and Wesley. Jason will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Jason's life will be held in Grimsby on Friday evening, October 24th. Flowers gratefully declined.

Devoted wife to the late Raymond Otto Freeland and a loving mother, she will be sadly missed by her children Fred Wells (Joanne), Wesley (Jacquie), Melanie Leeson (Rodney), Lorrie Knapp (Rick) and her 7 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.
