Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 22nd at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 87.
Predeceased by her husband Manuel and grandson Mike da Silva. Much loved mother of Maria Medeiros, Manuel (Fatima) da Silva, George da Silva and Paul da Silva.
Beloved grandmother of Lisa (Kyle) Brown, and Ned, Derek (Nancy), Stephanie, Kasandra and Kyle da Silva. Cherished great grandmother of Sarah Elizabeth, Gabriel and Cayson.
Also survived by her brother in law Joao da Silva, and her many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines on Saturday, February 25th at 9:30am. The Rite of Committal to follow.

Of Port Colborne, passed away peacefully at the Welland County General Hospital on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the age of 71 years.
Loving wife of Gerald, dear mother of Debbie (Greg) Gillespie of Burlington, Laurie (Harry) Evans of Port Colborne, Judy Nickerson of Ridgeway and Tricia (Roger) Hardy of Port Colborne, loving grandmother of Tyler and Gillian Gillespie, Chris, Jacob and Lyndsay Kramer, Brandon and Justin Nickerson, Cadence Daly, Jessica and Tyler Hardy.
Sister of Donna (George) Taylor of Port Colborne. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Hazel Lampman and her granddaughter Alicia Davies.
Born in Welland she has lived in this area all of her life. Sharon was a lifetime member of the Bethel United Church and a UCW member for 29 years. She was an avid quilter.
Funeral service will be held in Port Colborne on Saturday, February 25th. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes at a later date.

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Woodlands of Sunset at the age of 83.
Survived by her loving children William McIntyre (Laurel) of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Charles McIntyre of Apple Hill, ON, Sarah Lalonde (John) of St. Catharines, Jane Robins (David) of Welland, Heather Dolan of Welland and Richard McIntyre (Alice) of Port Colborne.
Loving grandmother of Bradley, Twila, Shallen, Cindy, Shari, Christine, Jennifer, Tyler, Zachary, Jacob and Alexander. Proud great grandmother of many great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Kenny Masson and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Una had lived in the Glengarry area for 47 years prior to coming to Welland in 1976. She was a member of the Lioness and The Friendship Circle at Central United Church.
Keeping with Mrs. McIntyre’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements out of Welland.

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and wife after a short illness. She died peacefully in her sleep in the hands of our Lord at Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital on February 22, 2012.
Olga was born in Fort William, Ontario (now Thunder Bay) on April 8, 1929. She was the youngest daughter of four children born to Mary and Peter Mudicka.
Olga met and married her husband John Stanczyk in 1949 and together had four children; Millie of Thunder Bay, Ron of Thunder Bay, Larry (Rosemarie) of Thunder Bay and Robert of Toronto.
With the many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren that Olga has left behind, she also leaves behind a simple and beautiful loving heart that will shine out in our lives as long as we who remain shall live.
In accordance with Olga's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held in St. Catharines on Saturday, February 25th.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeannette (2009) and daughter Carolyn (Marinoff, 1996). Beloved father of Paul (Kathy Simon), Mary Anne (Mark Seymour), Jackie Ketellaper, Madeleine (Bruce Ward), Denise (Bob Campbell), Michael (Jennifer Hampel) and Susan (Stephen Arnold). Dear father-in-law of Geoff Marinoff (Maria).
Son of the late Dr. Joseph Edmund and Marie-Ange Beaudette of Martintown, ON, Dad was the last surviving sibling in his family, being predeceased by Wilfred, Florence and Raymond.
Much missed grandpa of Brad, Rhiannon, Bev, Sam, Jack, Joey, Hilary, David, Megan, Denise, Kevin, Ben, Chris, Michael, Katherine, Matthew, Madison and Clare, and five great-grandchildren.
Although he loved to recount his overseas wartime exploits as ground crew with RCAF squadrons 404, 425 and 434, he is best remembered for his devotion to his family and service to his church and community.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, Niagara Falls on Friday, February 24th at 10:30 am. Rite of committal will follow at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery.

Born in Holland, Mr. Flameling immigrated to Canada in 1947 where he operated a farm in West Lincoln for several years before settling in Welland.

Passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the age of 31.
Cherished daughter of Jim and Nancy Rocca Dearly loved sister of Paul Rocca. Loving partner of Robin Urquhart. Beloved granddaughter of Mark and Anne Duralia and the late Vincent and Saveria Rocca. Laura will be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Laura graduated with distinction from Queen's University in English and Drama and earned a Masters degree in Drama from the University of Toronto. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, England and was the co-founder and producer of ‘DreamNorth’, performing Shakespeare’s plays in Toronto and the Yukon.
Laura also produced 'Upstaging Cancer,' a dramatic and musical revue, benefitting Princess Margaret Hospital. She will be remembered as an accomplished writer as well as an actor and artist.
A Service in celebration of Laura’s life will be held in Niagara Falls on Saturday. Entombment will follow.

On February 21, 2012, Joan died peacefully in St. Catharines in her 84th year.
Predeceased in 1983 by her husband, soulmate and favourite dancing partner, Peter. She was very proud of her five children: Carolyn Thomas in Victoria, Catherine O'Neill in Kelowna, Beverly and her husband Gary Smith in Mt. Hope, Brian and his wife Donna in Grimsby, and David and his wife Mitzi in Brussels, Belgium.
Joan was "Baba" to 11 loving grandchildren: Ben and Larissa Thomas, Conor, Liam and Hailey O'Neill, Matthew, Allison and Daniel Zaruk, and Celine, Clarissa and Jordan Zaruk. She is survived by her sisters Jean, Mary and her brother Tony.
She was "Joanie" to her many friends, especially during the years devoted to volunteering in the St. John's Ukrainian Church kitchen. She inherited her fierce work ethic from immigrant parents on the Manitoba farm where she was born and spent her lifetime practicing it, at the Red & White grocery store she and Peter ran on York Street in St. Catharines, and on their 40-acre Midway Farm in Jordan Station.
Somewhere in heaven today is the aroma of her famous home-baked chelsea buns and an apple pie or two, there is a jigsaw puzzle on the go, and the sounds of polka music as she finally gets to once again dance with her beloved Peter.
Funeral Liturgy will be held in St. John the Theologian Ukrainian Catholic Church, 91 Lakeshore Rd., St. Catharines on Saturday, February 25th at 9:30 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

Survived by his brothers Alfio (Agnes), Ottelo (Neildi) and sister Ivana (Claudio). Darmo is also survived by his sisters-in-law Antonietta Sassano (late Pasquale) Maria Orfei (late Peter) and brother-in-law Italo Orfei (Malvina) as well as many nieces and nephews and several family members in Italy.
Predeceased by his first wife Maria (nee Orfei), parents Duilio and Adella Burattini and sister Annetta.
Darmo worked most of his life at General Motors and INCO. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society and the Port Colborne Bocce Club. He coached soccer for many years with Sir John Colborne Youth Soccer and with the Special Olympics. He was an avid bowler and some would say his only downfall was that he was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23rd at St. John Bosco R.C. Church, Port Colborne at 10:00 a.m. with Father John Croal officiating. Rite of Committal will follow.

Passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, February 20, 2012 in her 87th year.
Velma leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, Frank. Velma will also be sadly missed by loving sons Robert (Cathleen) and Kenneth (Ann). She is also survived by son Donald and his family. Velma will be forever loved by grandchildren Lee (Kathy), Karen, Katie (Steve), and Colin and great-grandson William.
Velma also left behind devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cecil and Martha Paul, in Ireland. She will be fondly remembered by niece and nephew Moira and Hugh and their families, also in Ireland.
The long-standing kindness, faithfulness and friendship given to Velma by special friends Joanne, Margaret, and Ted will always be remembered. Passed away, peacefully, with his wife (Anne) by his side after a short battle with cancer on February 20, 2012 at the age of 60.
Beloved husband of 18 years to Anne (nee DeWitt). Loving father of two children; Charmaine Ransier (Steven) of Niagara Falls and Jacob Dickenson (Tiff) of Hamilton. He will also be missed by four grandchildren; Macen, Mallory, Kiah and Alexiseby.

Predeceased by her sons Douglas Ross and Jon Paul, her mother Helen Grant (Lavors) and her beloved father Murry Grant, as well as her two brothers Bill and Gordon Grant.

Elizabeth was a dedicated wife to her husband, whom she loved dearly. She was a pillar of strength, determination and love to all of her children, extended family and friends.
At this time her family wishes to express its heartfelt love and thanks to Glyn Morgan for being there as dad’s strength and crutch (mom thanks you Glyn). Special thanks to the many nurses at the NOTL Hospital, Denalda, Dawn, Helen, Katherine, Wendy, Laurie, Jennifer, Rafaul, Ken and many others for whom we didn’t get your names (sorry!).
A very special thank you to Val, Tom and Angela (Angel), Dr. Viviers, and to the CCAC Group, we could not have gotten through our loss without your compassion.
There will be an empty spot in our hearts but we are reassured that our mother is in a better place, at peace at last.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 2-4 pm at 5130 Portage Road, Niagara Falls in the Common Room. All are welcome.

It is with deep sorrow that we, the family of Kathleen Marie Etherington (nee Spellman) announces her passing on February 19, 2012.
Born February 5, 1933, she was in her 79th year.
She is survived by her loving husband Tom, sons Brian (Bev) and Bill (Jeanette), her grandsons Derek (Amanda), Jeff (Jaime Ann) and Tyler and great-grandchildren Katelyn, Noah, and Kaila. Predeceased by sons Larry and Michael and daughter Cathy.
Kay is resting at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be held at First Reformed Church on 1136 Vansickle Rd. N., St. Catharines on Thursday, February 23rd at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

HICKS, Bruce Hugh -
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Bruce Hugh Hicks, age 70, of Stratford, on Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at Stratford General Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Bruce was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, January 30th, 1942. Son of the late Ernest Hicks and Evelyn Hicks (Clarke).
Bruce was a dedicated fan of the Stratford Junior B Cullitons and also greatly enjoyed his membership in the Stratford and Waterloo Coin Clubs. The Detroit Red Wings were his favourite NHL hockey team with Gordie Howe being his hockey hero.
Bruce retired from F.A.G. Bearings in 2007. Bruce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Beloved husband of Linda Hicks whom he married on October 18th, 1969 in Stratford. Loving father of Robert Hicks of Vancouver, British Columbia. and Jeremy Hicks and wife Gilliauna of Mission, British Columbia.
Bruce is survived by sister-in-law Mary-Lou Drown of Stratford, Ontario, nephew Elijah Drown and wife Amber of London, Ontario and their 3 children Keegan, Landon and Emma. Also survived by Beatrice Hicks, nephew Roger Hicks, niece Kelly Maddalena and husband John of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and several nieces and nephews in British Columbia.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Joyce Doughty, brother Ronald Hicks and brother-in-law Larry Drown.
Funeral service in Stratford, on Thursday, February 23rd. Rev. Douglas Reble will officiate.

In the presence of his loving family, Glenn passed peacefully at Lookout Ridge on February 19, 2012 in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of Leola (Graham) for over 60 years. Devoted father of David (Dawn); Robert (Anne); Christine Jones (Joe Lenahan); Daryl (Beverley). Glenn is survived by five grandchildren; Leslee and Ashlee Jones, Jenifer, Kevin (Kristina) and Hilary Way, and two great grandchildren Andrew and Elyse.
Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Addie Way and his sisters Gertrude (and Bernard) Burke and Ileta Brailey. Loving brother-in-law to Robert Brailey and uncle to Diane Fleming.
Glenn will be remembered by the community for the bread and pasteries he produced through Way's Bakery operating at locations in Welland, Port Colborne and Fonthill until 1971.
Cremation has taken place. A 'celebration of life' service will be held at Central United Church, 12 Young Street, Welland on Saturday, February 25 at 1 p.m. followed by a reception. A private family interment in Fonthill Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Bit and Joyce enjoyed many years of travel and golf with their great friends and were fortunate to recently celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.

Cherished sister of Vee (Mike) Jones, Antoniette, Mike, Anthony (Jenny) and Paul (Shilo) DeGuida and sister-in-law of Barb (Dave) Maiden, Peter (Gail), John (Lauren) and Gary (Sophia) Janssen. Lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lucy enjoyed a long tenure with the District School Board of Niagara, serving as an educational consultant for 28 years and she will be missed by her many friends and colleagues.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Scapular Church, Niagara Falls. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date in the Maple Grove Columbarium at Fairview Cemetery.

Survived by Ronald Sherk, her loving children Scott Sherk, Stewart Sherk, Kim (Joe) Gatt all of Port Colborne, Guy (Julie) Sherk of Thorold and Mary (Jim) Cosby of Port Colborne, her grandchildren Gordon, Josh, Kara (Matthew), Matthew (Tara) and Stacey (Steven), her great grandchildren Hailie, Laila and Payton.
Also survived by her mother-in-law Lila Sherk of Kitchener, her dear cousin and friend Marilyn Alexander of B.C., her brothers-in-law Evan (Jackie) Sherk of Hamilton and Glen (Jane) Sherk of Florida, her sister-in-law Janet Sherk of Kitchener and the Duckett family.
Betty was predeceased by her sons Paul and Justin Sherk, her parents Harry and Irma Ball and many Duckett relatives.
Born in Thorold she has lived in Port Colborne for most of her life. Betty was a CGIT and Explorers leader at Central United Church and had worked at the Port Colborne General Hospital for many years from where she retired.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place in Port Colborne on Wednesday February 22nd with Pastor Isaac Flagg and Father Brian Bevan officiating. Interment of ashes will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Port Cares or the Justin Sherk Memorial Scholarship (Port Colborne High School).

Loving son of the late Antonino and Teresina Minicucci and son-in-law of the late Vincenzo and Teresina Ricciuto.
Predeceased by brothers Nicola, Armando (the late Pasqualina), Igino (the late Giovannina), sisters Antonietta and Concetta, nephews Marcello and Mario and brother-in-law Domenico Ricciuto.
Guido is survived by brother Romolo (Luisa) in France, sister Annina (Antonio) and brother-in-law Guerrino of Italy and sister-in-law Maria Ricciuto of Thorold. Guido will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked for General Concrete for 9 years and Court Industry for 15 years. Guido was involved with the Feast of the Assumption in Thorold from 1964-1970. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen St. S., Thorold on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rite of Committal to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.
