Loving husband of 44 years to Ruth Pickelmann. Dear father of Hans (Jenn) Pickelmann and Dieter Pickelmann. Opa will be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren Elizsa and Elliott.

Heinz is survived and will be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, family and friends in both Canada and Germany.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 13th in Port Colborne with Pastor Richard Juritsch officiating. Cremation will follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

If so desired memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, St. Catharines, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

She will be missed by her sisters and brothers Mrs. Rosaire Cloutier (Hectorine) of Quebec, Mrs. Roland Landry (Gabrielle) of New Brunswick, Armand Frenette of Quebec and Roger Frenette (Cecile) of Ottawa.

Caring grandma to Krysta, Daniel and Janessa. Proud great grandma to Jordan.

Lina is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Lea Gaudet, Hedwidge Doucette, Gerald Frenette and Simonne Newbury.

Lina worked at Canadian Tire for 20 years and proudly volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Welland Hospital, Sunset Haven and Woodland of Sunset. Lina was a long time member of St. Kevin's Church and the Catholic Women's League.

The family wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to Rapelje Lodge for taking care of Mom.

Funeral service in Welland on Monday, January 13th. Interment to follow.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (nee Brown). Sadly missed by Jeannie Davis and Kathryn Chevrier (Paul). Also survived by Elizabeth’s family; Joseph Brown (Chris), William Brown (Dee), Herman Brown Jr. (Mary Ellen), Lena Dennis (late Roy), Helen Biro (Frank) and Florence Brown as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cherished friend and companion of Leah Johnston. Al will be sadly missed by many close friends and neighbours. The residents of Parkway Drive will also miss the sights and sounds of his red 1953 MGTD during the summer evenings.

Predeceased by his parents Allan and Peggy Colquhoun.

Al was born and raised in Welland. He was a former member of the Copestone Masonic Lodge #373, an active member of the Niagara Rods and Rides, Niagara British Car Club and the MGA Car Club of Victor NY. He was a car enthusiast and a model train hobbyist who strived for perfection in his restoration work.

Respecting Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Welland on Tuesday, January 14th, conducted by Pastor Donna Totten. A private interment will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to All People’s United Church or the Welland Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

A special thank you to the staff from the I.C.U. at the Welland Hospital for their care and compassion.

Lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Herbert (Katie), Anna, Albert (Margie) and two sisters-in-law Aileen and MaryAnne.

Predeceased by brothers Peter, Neil, Richard, John and Henry.

Thanks to the staff at Grandview Lodge for their wonderful care for Ernie over the last five years.

Beloved wife of the late Walter Muise (1988) and the late William Joyce (2006).

Loved mother of Janet Muise (Paul Ames) of Toronto, Douglas Muise (Christine) of Burlington, Richard Muise (Bee Rootham) of Kanata, Lorraine Muise (Alfonso Mucci) of Montreal and Carolin Muise (Andre Gosselin) of St. Catharines. Cherished grandmother of Lily, Marcel, Amy, Rebecca, Jason, Coriander, Stacy and Sofia. Also remembered by the Joyce family.

Albertine was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joseph Church in Grimsby and supported numerous community organizations.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, on Monday, January 13th at 10 a.m. Interment.

Cherished Bisnonna of Karina, Gracie and Sabrina Mossuto, Sofia and Luca Curcio and Christian Sommise.

Dear sister of Libera Cardo, Giuseppe (Gemma) Golia, Carmela Lucia and Vito (Carmela) Golia and sister-in-law of Michela Golia and Emilia Golia, Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Annunziata Petriella and her husband Michele and Angelina Finella and her husband Pasquale, her brothers Bartolomeo Golia and Antonio Golia and her brothers-in-law Teofilo Cardo and Giuseppe Lucia.

Alfonsina was born in Circello, Benevento, Italy and immigrated with her husband Teofilo in 1957. She worked at Mount Carmel Monastery for 27 years, retiring in 1989.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Scapular Church, Niagara Falls. The Rite of Entombment will follow.

Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on January 8, 2014, at the age of 69.

He will be sadly missed by his loving friend Connie Tonn, who kept him comfortable and happy through some very difficult times.

Paul was a loving father to Shawn (Kristi) and Darren (Debbie) and cherished Grandpa to Samantha, Ally, Valentina, Kaleb, Adam and Benjamin. He will be well remembered by his siblings Rick (Iris), Joan, Susan Ince (John), Carol Pentland (George), his Aunt Eileen, and his many nieces and nephews.

Always ready with a smile, Paul's optimistic outlook on life and his keen desire to help others were his greatest attributes.

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Paul's life with a service at the Centennial Park Baptist Church, 11 Kennedy Road, Grimsby, ON, Thursday, January 16th at 4:30 p.m., a reception will follow.

Danny was a member of the Moose Lodge on Riverside Drive. Danny loved his grandkids and loved spending countless hours with them.

Brother-in-law of Rosemary Chase, Dave Chase (Linda), Donna Chase (Wayne) all from Welland and Marion Shalon (Bill) of Grand Island, N.Y. Also loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents William and Mary Turner and sister Joyce.

Art was born and raised in Welland. He worked for General Motors in St. Catharines for 35 years. He was very active in the Southend Neighbourhood Community for almost 35 years. He ran kids baseball in the summer and boys floor hockey in the winter.

Art also played crib on Saturday afternoons at the Temple Club and the Welland Legion for many years. For the past ten years, he enjoyed playing euchre on Tuesday evenings at the Moose Lodge. He took care of Plymouth Park soccer fields and baseball diamonds for the last 14 years.

Reverend Val Kerr will conduct a service in Welland to celebrate Art’s life on Monday, January 13th. Cremation will follow.

Beloved husband of the late Ethel Kurchak ((2010). Loving and proud father of Dan (Jane) of Welland, Ontario; Nancy (Ford) of Thessalon, Ontario; and Scott (Jana) of Buffalo, New York.

Special grandfather of Sarah (Aaron) of Toronto, Ontario; and dear step grandfather of Stephanie (Elias) of Mississauga, Ontario; Kelly and Kyle of Toronto, Ontario; and Ryan (Alicia) of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Step great grandfather of Berlin, Brandon, and Brianna.

Cherished brother of Gene (Daphne) of Los Angeles, California; and Bill of Vancouver. Predeceased by his father William, mother Pauline, mother in law Sadie, father in law Erland Furry; and brother Bob. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Always an Entrepreneur, George began his road to success with Westinghouse where he was a Senior Draftsman. He then decided that he preferred the challenge of sales and chose to become an Insurance Broker and then branched out into Real Estate and Development.

While serving as Alderman of Thorold, George was instrumental in the design, approval and ground breaking of the new arena. His dream of capturing the tourism market of the Niagara Region had George working with the original building designers of the Niagara On The Lake old town theme to introduce a plan to revitalize Thorold’s downtown core.

His love of hockey saw his involvement in the Niagara Falls Flyers, and the Niagara Falls Canucks. He was part owner and President of the Jr. B Niagara Falls Canucks and helped guide them to the District Championships in 1975, 1976 and 1977.

Moving to Toronto in the late 1970?s, George became a Business Consultant for the Federal Business Development Bank of Canada, where he mentored young entrepreneurs and struggling business owners, creating successful companies, some of which are still operating to this very day.

The family would like to send out a very special thank you to all of the loving and caring staff at Algoma Manor, for their gentle and compassionate care given to George over the passed 4 1/2 years.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Thorold on Thursday, January 16th. Inurnment will take place in the spring.

Donations in memory of George to the Blind River District Health Centre Foundation, Thessalon Site would be appreciated by the family.

On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, Joseph (Joe) Lu-Affatt, age 95, dedicated husband of Coree, loving father of Diane Lu, Sandra (Guy) Giguère and Kim/Lexi (Bill) Robinson, passed away peacefully at Extendicare St. Catharines.

He is survived by cherished sister Helena Kurban of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michel and Genevieve; nephews and nieces.

Born in Trinidad, Joe ("Lu") was a founding staff member and chief X-ray technician at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines.

An avid gardener, woodworker, he was a builder of awesome backyard skating rinks and other childhood play worlds. A health and fitness enthusiast, his silly, playful sense of humour and easygoing nature leaves a void in our hearts. He adored ballroom dancing and music, both singing with great gusto and playing harmonica, piano or guitar.

In the city, he was an active participant in the Chinese Cultural Club, supporting the city's Multicultural Festival. Later in life, he revealed an amazing gift for oil painting and creative arts.

A Celebration of Joe's life to be held in early summer. Arrangements out of St. Catharines.
