DAURIO, Linda (Galloway) Daurio - Obituary | Print |

DAURIO, Linda (Galloway) -

Daurio_LindaJanuary 27, 1940 - October 29, 2014

My darling wife of 56 years, I loved her from the day we met. Beloved mother of Rick, Steve (Bev) and Greg (Lisa); Grandmother of Tory (Tyler), Shannon, Jamie, Charlie, Michelle, Amara (Max), Arthur; Great-grandmother of Jac, Delphine and Aurora.

Linda was the rock upon which our family grew, always good counsel, always thoughtful. We celebrated the 58th anniversary of our first date last May - my high school Spring Prom. She loved our boys as they grew with good character, into good-hearted, loving and thoughtful adults. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, noting each birthday without fail. She treasured our long and deep friendship with the Adams family- the camping trips north and east with all "the boys", the Friday night dinners - and our long friendship with the Houghtons. She supported me in my business, volunteering, family reunions and Council activities, always by my side.

She treasured our Disney trips, a favourite destination with our sons and grandchildren. We visited Ireland the land of her forefathers and watched the sun go down on Galway Bay. We visited Italy, the land of my forefathers. We had an amazing life together; we did everything we ever wanted to do. We shall miss her terribly, but reflect always on the great experiences we shared and the things she would tell us before we did something we would regret - she always knew. She was the strongest and most selfless and courageous person I ever knew.

Linda’s ashes rest in Innisfil. Please join us for a celebration of Linda’s life, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 8th in the Fireside Lounge in the Thornhill Community Centre at Bayview and John in Thornhill and at 3 - 5 p.m. on November 8th at our home in Innisfil.

Our thanks to Dr. Ferguson and the Sarcoma team at Princess Margaret Hospital for restoring her mobility and hope. Thanks also to Dr. Emerson and the CCAC staff at Royal Victoria Hospital for quick action to establish a thoughtful and comprehensive program of advice and assistance and the caring and generous support provided by Saint Elizabeth Health Care.

Donations to the Terry Fox Foundation, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Royal Victoria Hospital or Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be most appreciated.
