PURCHES, Marion Rose -

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marion passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Sunrise of Unionville in her 91st year, following a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

With much sorrow a full life of love, laughter and adventure came to a blessed end. A life well lived.

Born in Wainwright, Alberta in 1923, Marion was the much loved only daughter of Edward and Marion Prior. Growing up on a farm held many fond memories for Marion including the joyous days riding her favourite horse Johnny.

In 1942, in Edmonton, Marion married the love of her life, Walter Purches, her husband and partner for 67 wonderful years. Walter and Marion came to Toronto with their 4 young children in the late 1950s and began a fifty year life adventure together in what became their beloved city and province. They also travelled extensively in their retirement years and experienced many parts of the world. They never stayed away for very long though as they were always so happy to return to their family and city.

They lived a full, rewarding, caring life together. The union of Marion and Walter leaves behind a true legacy, an immediate family of 29 people. Marion loved to garden, walk for miles, swim, ice skate, ride her bike everywhere and so enjoyed her music right to the very end. A

n excellent cook, her cookbook of so many family favourites has become a family heirloom in her time. We are left with the comfort of so many wonderful memories that will be cherished.

Predeceased by husband Walter and brothers Teddy, Jack (Jukie), Art (Attie), and many lifelong friends in Alberta and Ontario. Survived by her children: Diane (Neil), Robert (Diane), Kathryn (Paul) and Grant; 5 grandchildren: Traci (Steve), Lyndsey (Dave), Michelle (Bill), Scott (Catharine), and Christopher; 13 great-grandchildren: Emily, Billy, Elizabeth, Grace, Samuel, Rachel, Amy, Alec, Daniel, Ryan, Hannah, Abigail, Jack; and a dear friend, Patricia Cracknell of Victoria, BC. ROMANICK, Natalia Joan (METELSKY) Romanick - Obituary | Print |

ROMANICK, Natalia Joan (nee METELSKY) -

Passed away suddenly on December 15, 2013 at the age of 88 in the fullness of life and intellect.

Graduating from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1950, she practiced medicine with tenacity and integrity, and was an energetic advocate for women's health and well-being.

ZULAUF, Sol Zulauf - Obituary | Print |

ZULAUF, Sol -

Dear Daddy, It was with profound sadness, on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., that I said "so long" to you, my sweet father, holding your hand for the last time.

At 91 years old, you heroically struggled through a protracted decline, suffering from advanced dementia with seldom a complaint. Now your valiant struggle is over. I have infinite, heartwarming memories of our special father-daughter time together that I will treasure forever. It was my honour to take care of you, give you my love and support, and advocate for you.

You were a tough soldier who bravely fought on the front lines during World War II, and faced the cruelest end-of-life battle of mind and body. A kind and gentle soul, with a soft-spoken manner, you were loved by all who knew you for your warmth, compassion, endearing smile and disarming sense of humour. You endowed me with many gifts for which I will forever be grateful.

I thank my wonderful husband Erwin for his unwavering support and the love he showed you. We wish you eternal peace and will miss you more than words can say.

I love you forever Daddy Your first-born daughter Debra Stuart.
