With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Cecil "Cec" Alleyne on January 7, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean, his children Roger (Sophia) and Andrea (Stephen) Matthews and was the proud grandfather of Annika Matthews and Jaiden and Laila Alleyne.
His loss is deeply felt by siblings Esmay, Eustace (Lamar), Junior, Keith (Merlene), Jefferson and Sylvester Alleyne, Clevere (Esther) Fenty and Glendeane (Orman) Lythcott. He was predeceased by his parents, Hillary and Geraldine and sister Norma Best. Cecil was a beloved uncle to Anderson, Tamara, Karen, Jennifer, Janae, Tanya and Terri-Lynn Alleyne, Susan Packer, Jonathan and Matthew Fenty, Cheryl-Ann, Carol Ann and Andrew Lythcott.
He was brother-in-law to Maude and Mitchell Hampden and "Uncle Cec" to Kimberley Blackwood and Danielle, Kaylee and Kalani Hampden.
Cecil will be missed by his extended family, the many friends he made abroad, in his neighbourhood and during his 24 year tenure in the Toronto Star's composing room.
Cecil's family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at GIFFEN-MACK 'SCARBOROUGH' FUNERAL HOME (4115 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough) from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m.
Services will be held at Rosewood Church of The Nazarene on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 (657 Milner Avenue, Scarborough) at 11 a.m.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father Edward Aranha on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 99.
With his family by his bedside he peacefully decided to join his wife Mona with whom he shared many happy years and had four devoted children.
Edward is survived by his daughter Eleanor (Tony) De Souza in Sydney, Australia, son Maurice Aranha in Karachi, Pakistan, daughter Shirley Aranha in Toronto and son Brian Aranha (Krystyna) in Hamilton. Edward also leaves behind his granddaughter Natasha De Souza (Neil Donlevy) and great- granddaughter Gabbi, grandson Cyrus (Ronda) De Souza and great-granddaughter Maddie, all in Australia and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12 p.m. at St. Basil's Church, 50 St. Joseph St. (at Bay). Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Ave.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the 4th floor Moore Wing staff at Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor Nursing Home and the doctors and nurses at the Emergency and IC Unit of Sunnybrook Hospital.

84, of Markham, Ontario, passed away at Southlake Regional Hospital on Monday, January 7, 2013, with family by her side.
Born April 20, 1928 in Boharm, Saskatchewan; daughter of Joseph Shepley and Catherine Ellis.
Marg is survived by her brother Charles Shepley and his wife Anne Marie (Wasaga Beach, ON); her four children, Donna Collins and husband Ian Robertson (Winnipeg, MB); Glenn Collins and his wife Sylvie Tremblay (Stouffville, ON); Patricia Collins and her partner Alan Bird (Ashton, ON); and Gail Collins (Markham, ON); as well as her six grandchildren, Heather, Bryan, Karyn, Justin, Zackary and Zoe, and many nieces and nephews.
Marg was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Harold (Hal) Thomas Collins and her siblings Jack Shepley, Ilene Ridley and Lynda Yestrau.
Marg grew up on a prairie farm, where she developed her love for animals, learned to appreciate nature and the great outdoors and honed her amazing internal strength and ability to work hard, pitching in no matter what the task.
Marg always thought of others before herself. She married in 1951 relocating to Scarborough, ON, where she and Hal started their family.
In 1964, they moved to Markham, where Marg lived out the rest of her life. Marg became an avid golfer; a former member of Whitevale Golf and Country Club. She was a wonderful artist and excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marg will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Services will be conducted on January 14 in Markham, ON.
The family will receive friends January 13th, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

COSTANZO, Giovanna -
It is with much sadness that we announce that Giovanna Di Costanzo left us January 7, 2013 peacefully and gracefully, surrounded by her loving children John and Anna and family.
Giovanna first came to Canada in the early 50s from Ischia, Italy to marry Aniello Di Costanzo.
She has since lived in Toronto where she was actively involved with her church as well as to giving to the poor and those in need.
One of her joys was singing in the St. Wilfrid's Church choir.
We will always remember her generosity and warm welcoming smile. Giovanna succumbed to liver failure after living many years with the disease.
We would like to personally thank Dr. Paul Cantarutti for his dedication to Giovanna's care over the last 25 years.

89, resident of Hollandview Trail Retirement Residence, Aurora, Ontario, passed away on January 7th, 2013 at McKenzie Health Care Centre.
She was born to the late Herbert and Mabel (nee Sugden) Meade, May 13, 1923, in Hamilton, ON.
Ruth married the late Lorne George Elley in 1947, and they lived together in Binbrook, Hamilton and Brantford before relocating to Sarnia in 1987.
After Lorne's death in 2009, Ruth relocated to Aurora in 2010. Ruth was devoted to her family, fun loving and had a warm heart for others. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, little theatre, travel, square dancing, cards, bowling, lawn bowling, and camping. She is survived by two daughters: Dale Elley-Bristow (Duncan) of Collingwood and Denise Exler (John) of Newmarket; and four grandchildren: Erin and Jaclyn Bristow, and Rachel and Thomas Exler.

She will be forever loved and missed by son, Michael Casarin (Maryse), grandson, Dylan, daughter, Dar Elizabeth, (Rick Koning) and grandson, Tristan, most treasured nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and her many friends and amazing neighbours on Chesterhill.

Services and gathering for Celebration of Life at St. James Cathedral, 65 Church Street, Toronto, Monday, January 14th at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Toronto or Salvation Army Toronto Grace Palliative Care, who supported her wish to be at home as long as possible and in her last weeks appreciated.

Passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, January 7th, 2013.
Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth.
He will be sadly missed by his children Gary (Fay) and Michelle Russell (Rob), and his grandchildren Shannon, Kelsey, Amanda, Alana and Julia. Lovingly remembered by his longtime companion and friend Jackie Ricketts. Dear brother of Lyla Laverick. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
