PINCHIN, Don Pinchin - Obituary | Print |

PINCHIN, Don -

Died peacefully July 29, 2015 in his 67th year, in the company of his beloved wife Lydia Luckevich, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, children Karen (Sean Sullivan), Veronica and Graham, grandson Parker Sullivan, brother Ed Pinchin (Bryn) and many in an extended family. Don excelled at being many things: son, husband, father, boss and colleague.

He wished to be a better golfer, but still shot an 83 at the Old Course at St. Andrews last spring. A scientist-turned- businessman who was widely respected for his work ethic and integrity, Don will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched, including friends and colleagues at Pinchin Ltd., golf buddies, Cambridge rowing crews past and present and everyone for whom he mended an object, pruned a tree, taught to split an apple and gave advice. We will especially miss his bad jokes and his incredible knowledge of epic poetry and vintage song lyrics. His legacy will endure, both through his company and his philanthropy.

Don achieved great success with honour and was generous in sharing his success with staff and the many charitable causes he supported. Given a choice between doing what was easy or what was right, he always chose what was right.

Thanks to the staff at Kensington Hospice who made his final days as comfortable as possible. Respecting Don's wishes, there will be no funeral; a memorial service is planned for late September. If desired, donations to the Pinchin Graduate Scholarship in Honey Bee Research and Insect Health supporting research at the University of Guelph would be valued. Please go to http://www.alumni.uoguelph.ca/ give/give_ how.shtml for instructions on how to donate and reference the "Don Pinchin Memorial Scholarship Fund."

Messages may be left at www.aftercare.org
