Service will be held in Weston on Wednesday July 2nd. Interment to follow.

Holden_BettyHelen "Betty" Elizabeth (nee Nurse) Holden, 94, peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 27, 2014, at her home in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Theodore Holden, who has been patiently waiting for his love in heaven since 1964.

She was born on November 22, 1919 in Govan, Saskatchewan, the eldest daughter to the late Jean (nee MacPherson) and Stanley William Nurse.  Betty trained as a school teacher at Toronto's Normal School and taught for many years in the Leaside Public School system.

After her retirement Betty used this passion to teach the English language to new Canadians. Many lifelong friendships were formed during this time. Always inspired to help, Betty penned a book that was used for teaching New Canadian Immigrants, which Ontario used for many years.

She was an amazingly talented painter, teacher and woman of faith, who shaped the lives of many by her tireless Christian example. Betty will be fondly remembered by her family and dear friends.

Survived by her sister Joy Stasior and her husband Richard of Liverpool, New York. Nephews Paul Stasior of Liverpool, NY and David (Janine) Stasior of Concord, Mass; niece Carol (Joe) Mayer of Hampton, NH; seven great nieces and nephews; a great-great nephew and great-great niece.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m. at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage, 413 Linwell Road, St. Catharines, with a reception immediately following.  Burial will take place in Toronto at 2:00 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mt. Pleasant Road.

A resident of Markham for over 45 years, peacefully passed away at home on the night of June 27, 2014 from heart failure following a lengthy illness.

Affectionately called Jill, matching up with her twin brother Jack (deceased), her christened name was Carol Jane.

Born to Murray Boulton and Thora Storm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she is survived by her sister Ann Jenkins (London, Ontario). Jill was married to Roger for over 55 years and passed away at age 75. Often called the "Hat Lady", Jill had exquisite taste for fashion and decorating. An international traveller, she covered over 20 foreign countries.

A terrific mom to five wonderful and happy children: Pamm Nolan (Glen Nolan) (deceased), Michelle Keeley (Jim Drohan) in Toronto, Chris Keeley (Kim Morgan) in Unionville, Tracey Keeley Opyc (Dean Opyc) in Kitchener and Todd Keeley (David Bitran) in New York.

She was a fantastic listener, who always had an available word of wisdom. She truly loved family and laughter.

Jill had the privilege of chairing the Board of St. Andrew's United Church in Markham, in her healthier days.

Loving "Nana" to Ben Nolan, Gavin and Blake Drohan, Meghan and Nolan Keeley and Hailey and Hayden Opyc.

A rainbow shines in our lives today. 

Service in Markham on Tuesday July 8th.

Passed away peacefully on June 27, 2014 surrounded by her family, at the Rouge Valley - Ajax Pickering Hospital.

Edna, who was fondly known as Grandma Kitch to all who knew her.

She is survived by 2 sons Bryan (Debbie) of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Barry (Linda) of Bethel, Connecticut and her daughter-in-law Laraine (Tom) of Whitby, Ontario. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with.

Predeceased by her parents William and Lillian Hibbs; husband Walter Fuller Bruce Kitching (1987); and her son William Vern Kitching (1994).

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and entertained often in the family home of 50 years, where her and Dad raised their family.

She was a very caring person who would help out anyone who needed it. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan.

One of her recent fondest memories was attending a Blue Jays game with her grandchildren for her 90th birthday.

She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends that knew her. 

Funeral Services will be held in Scarborough on Friday, July 4rd.

Please, no flowers, however for those who wish to remember her can do so with a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.

Predeceased by her husband Ronald.

Rhoda will be deeply missed by her sister Betty Gillespie and brother-in-law Charlie Ash, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in England.

She was a longtime member of St. George's Anglican Church in Ajax.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 7th in the historic old St. George's Anglican Church, 77 Randall Dr., Ajax, at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in St. George's Cemetery.

Jeffrey Charles Leonard passed away peacefully in the company of his wife and family in his 57th year, after a long struggle with cancer.

Jeffrey was the beloved husband of Betty (Alebetsovitis) and cherished father of John (Laura), Christina, Alexander and Daniel. He is survived by his mother Jean (Younger) and siblings Lawrence, Paul, Norman, Gregory, Elizabeth, Edward, Mary Jean, Robert, Christopher and Michael, as well as sister-in-law Bessie Anagnostopoulos. Jeffrey was predeceased by his father Warren Colin Leonard and he was son- in-law to John Alebetsovitis.

Jeffrey led a very active life as a stock trader, talented guitarist and writer, avid hiker and volunteer for Scouts Canada. He was known for his kindness, generosity and great sense of humour, as well as his boundless energy.

The family expresses its gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital Palliative Care for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 12 p.m. at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church (115 Bond St.). Interment will follow.

Peter Graydon Lush, real estate icon, visionary and proud owner and developer of Cedar Run Horse Park has died at home in Thornbury, Ontario at age 81 from cancer.

Survived by his wife Flora (nee Wakefield), and his children Valerie (Bill) and John (Mani), stepchildren Kim (Dave) and Sarah (Darren), dear brother Barry Lush, and predeceased by his sister Barbara Buzza (Lush); also, a proud grandfather of Maris, Eliot, Eve, Matthew, Emerson, Ella, Ryan and Jack.

Born and raised in Burlington, Ontario, Peter spent his early career building a company in his hometown, the Lush Corporation which, in the early 1990s, included over 40 associated companies focused on real estate sales and commercial development with regional offices in Ontario and Germany.

He has been recognized for building the Sunlife Commercial Complex, Upper Canada Place and the first major hotel (Holiday Inn) in Burlington, ON.

Past positions include: President of the International Real Estate Federation, President of the Hamilton Real Estate Board, Vice President of the Ontario Real Estate Association and Chairman of the Hamilton Harbour Commission. Committed to community development, he also served as Treasurer to the PC Canada Fund, Chairman of the Ontario Mental Health Foundation, and raised the funds needed to construct the first YMCA in Burlington, ON.

Past owner and proud member of The Georgian Peaks Ski Club and former treasurer of the America’s Cup Challenge True North, Peter embraced his adventurous and active spirit by sailing throughout the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and skiing in Ontario and Europe.

He was a member of Equine Canada and loved riding his horses and working on his farm in Thornbury, ON.

Bruce was a retired teacher with the North York Board of Education. He had a great passion for old cars and was a member of HASC.  He also had a love of music and played the banjo with The Toronto Banjo Band, the Invictones, and the WestEnders.

Cremation has taken place. 

Memorial service will be held in Toronto on Wednesday, July 2nd.

With the love of her family and after a courageous battle with cancer, Jeanette passed away on June 27, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario.

Loving mother of Christopher (Pascale) and Andrew. Beloved Gramma to Shelby and Madison. Dear sister to Elizabeth, Judy (Pete), Ken (José), Brian and Joni (Doug). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, Alan and Stella Parton and niece Cheryl Anne Reid.

Jeanette lived her life for her boys and could be found at any hockey arena or baseball diamond cheering them on, and for her two granddaughters.

A special “Thank You” to St. Joseph’s Hospice: you gave Jeanette back her life for a few more months, and each of you held a special place in her heart! To date, Jeanette was the longest-term resident at the Hospice. Also a very big thank you to Dawna for everything you did.

Visitation will be held in London. The funeral service will be conducted in Milton on Wednesday, July 2nd. Interment to follow.

Following a long, courageous battle, Peter "Jerry" Mocherniuk passed away at Trillium on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the age of 81.

Predeceased by his spouse, Peggy (Caw); parents, William and Barbara; siblings, Bob, Pearl and Annie. Survived by his sister Nancy Zepp.

Jerry lived a full life and loved to tell a story or joke and entertain people. He travelled many places, lived in Las Vegas and then settled back home in Toronto.

Sincere thanks to the staff at Eatonville Care Centre. Thanks to Odette and his nephew Michael for being his guardian angels.

He will be missed by family and friends.

As per Jerry's request, a funeral gathering will not be held.

Tom enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays, and winning at the scratch tickets or slot machines.

Tom’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and he would find any excuse to be the taxi driver to Bradley, Ashley, Alanna, Kayla, Holly, Troy, Ryan, Trevor, Haley, Hanna, Jacob, Ethan and Bryce.

Dear brother of Sharon Spratt (Harold) of Tweed, John Mullin (Linda) of Bancroft, and the late Phillip Mullin, Frank Mullin (survived by Pat) of Sudbury, Margaret Mullin. Survived by brothers Jim, Rob and Joe with whom he shared a great friendship.  Proud grandpa to Daniel, Katherine, Finn and Harper.

Duncan was a respected surgeon at Royal Victoria Hospital and loved his work. He was also passionate about sailing, Formula One racing, and working on his vintage Jaguar. Duncan was on the Board of Gilda's Club, in addition to being very involved with the Grey and Simcoe Forresters, a reflection of his deep respect for those who serve in the Military.

The family is deeply appreciative of the excellent care he received at RVH.

A Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. with Michelle Hofman officiating.

Proud Baba of Matthew (Sheena), Victoria (David), Adam, Zachary (Knesia), Natasha and Alex. Great- Baba of Logan and Brianna, who always brought a smile to her face.

Predeceased by 11 siblings. She will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral Service will be held in Toronto on Friday, July 4th.

Passed away peacefully in his 94th year on Friday, June 27, 2014.

He was born on September 15, 1920 in Å akiai, Lithuania.

 Survived by his wife Aldona, children Frank (Vida), Loretta (Dave) and Victor (Teresa), his grandchildren Adam, Asia, Daniel, Dylan, Mikolas, Robert and Samantha, nephew Vytautas (Daiva) in Lithuania and niece Birute of the GTA.

Predeceased by his brothers Fr. Victor, Juozas and Vladas, sister Maryte and nephew Leonas (surviving Albina) of Lithuania.

The family is very grateful and thankful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home during his stay.

Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 1 Resurrection Rd., Etobicoke, on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10 a.m.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, we will cherish your memory and we will miss you greatly.

Passed away suddenly on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the age of 77.

Beloved husband and soulmate of Eileen for 45 years.

Son of the late Cornelius and Anna Toews, son-in-law of the late Charles and Lillian Clemmet. Dear and loving dad and best bud of Clive (Kim).

Loving and proud granddad of Paige (Brittney) and Morgan (Will). Great granddad of Skye.

Brother of Frieda Derksen (late Ed Derksen) and the late Walter and Neil Toews. Survived by many nephews and nieces in Canada and England.  Brother-in-law of the late Fred and Beryl Clemmet of Toronto and Ken and Pat Clemmet, Clive and Doreen Clemmet, Roger and Lynda Fairfax, John and Pat Cox all of England.

Best friend of Sharon Banks (late Les Banks) and family.

Henry was a retired Professor at the University of Windsor and spent many happy years there and enjoyed his students.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
