BUBRIN, Ludvik Bubrin - Obituary | Print |

BUBRIN, Ludvik -

Suddenly in his 90th year, while vacationing in Cuba, on the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19, 2014.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Margita (Rajtek) and children Vladimir (Marianne), Vera Lewis (Robert), Kathy Fenwick (Mark).

Cherished stari tata of David, Matthew, Andrea, Adam, Christopher, Julia, Daniel and Patricia and great-grandfather of Simon, Cooper, Evelyn, Maeve and Avery. Predeceased by his parents Martin and Katarina, brothers Anton, Stefan and Jozef.

Forever an immigrant, as a child he moved from Slovakia to Croatia and then to his "promised land" Canada with his young family. He was modest and hard working, secure in his identity and steadfast in his principles. His family and faith were sacred to him and were the focus of his love and generosity. He will be remembered for his happy disposition and infectious sense of humour.

A gifted and self-taught accordion player, he brought joy to many with his music, most recently with his great-grandchildren dancing around him. His love for his wife Margita and his family was completed by his enjoyment of cottage life, especially teaching his grandchildren the skills of fishing on Head Lake. We are grateful for his long, healthy and active life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church, 7 Croatia St., on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 9 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery.

In appreciation for his love of children and joyful caretaking in several Toronto Catholic District school communities, donations may be made to the Angel Foundation for Learning, TCDSB.
