We are sad to announce that Mary passed after a very brief illness at the Cottage Hospital, Uxbridge on Saturday February 22nd, 2014.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Frances and Norman and is survived by her brother Ian and her nieces Elizabeth and Stephanie. She was much loved by the entire Edwards, Griffin, and her adopted Ruppel families.

Mary inherited the mantle of keeper of the family archives over the years and was renowned for bringing all her different circles of friends and family together at Brookdale each year. Her continuing groups of friends included those from Lawrence Park Collegiate, Camp Oconto, and all the various family branches. Foremost was her love of Brookdale and her unrelenting efforts to constantly improve the property for the future. Her circle of friends and neighbours and co-workers is broad and will all feel the loss.

At Mary’s request there will be no service and the family expects to have a spring gathering at Brookdale when her flowers are in bloom and her efforts can be appreciated by all. This will be followed by interment at Pine Grove Church beside her parents and close to her beloved Karen Ruppel.

Walter was a well-respected, retired jeweller and whom, from 1942 to 1994, managed and created many of Birks fine pieces.

Walter was commissioned by Henry Birks & Sons, Inc. in 1981 to produce an exquisite broach for the Royal Regiment of Canada. The latter would be the wedding gift the regiment presented to Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles to commemorate their marriage.

Eric passed away peacefully on February 22, 2014 at the age of 92.

He has joined Grace (February 14. 2009) his beloved wife of 57 years.

Born in Deal Kent UK, February 7 1922 to parents Alan Mandeville & Lilian Florence Marsh, he was the oldest of 3 siblings.

He is predeceased by his sister Pam (Mardock) and survived by his brother Tony.

Barely 19 Eric enrolled and served in the RAF from Oct.1941 - Oct.1946, as a Halifax bomber pilot with 77 Squadron. Successfully completing 36 missions mainly over the Rhur, his crew fondly referred to him as "lucky Eric." After the war the squadron was converted to Transport Command and he was posted to India flying DC3's between Katachi, New Delhi, Calcutta and Rangoon. Upon release from the RAF he returned to work at Sun Insurance before immigrating to Canada in 1948.

Eric settled in Canada and gained employment with Coca-Cola Ltd. where he worked for 36 years with the majority of his time as the Controller until his retirement, February 29, 1984. He met Grace while working at Coca Cola, marrying her on March 1, 1952. He said it was the best and smartest thing he ever did! Together they enjoyed extensive travel, experiencing the countries of Europe, Asia, N & S America & South Africa. They loved spending winters in Hawaii for 5 months every year from 1984-2002.

While not having children of their own, he and Grace enjoyed sharing their adventures by sending postcards from exotic places, remembering birthdays and always showing a genuine interest in his nephews Peter, Christopher, David, Stephen Marsh and nieces Diana (and Sampson family) Jennifer Mardock (Rob). He will be remembered for his incredible warmth, respect and love for family and friends.

 Eric generously gave to those in need and was blessed with many friends and neighbors who cared for him and Grace in their later years. Eric will be fondly missed by dear friends Heather Johnson & Kevin Pluim and Chris Simon & Bernie Arruda. Eric was always very appreciative of the kindness and care he received from all who touched his life. Special thanks to the staff at Leaside Retirement who for 9 years gave him kind and generous attention and who genuinely cared for Eric and will miss him.

Family and friends will be received at The GIFFEN-MACK DANFORTH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE 2570 Danforth Avenue (at Main subway) on Saturday March 29, 2014 from 2pm followed by a Celebration of Eric's life at 3:30pm.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Doris. Father of Wanda of Umtata, South Africa (RSA), Nikiwe of Brantford, Piko (Maxine) of Whitby, Khwezi (Mary) of Vancouver, and Zoki (Kelly) of North Bay and Thabisa of Port Elizabeth (RSA). Pre-deceased by adoring daughter, Nomsa (1999). Loving Grandpa of Tessa, Zachary, Samantha, Kylie and Olivia.

Brother of Numvuyo of Duncan Village, RSA, Mbewu and Ndoda of Mdantsane RSA, Esme (Robert) of Port Elizabeth, RSA, and Hilda of Johannesburg, RSA. Brother in-law of Eva Ntatleng and Grace Rapitso both of Mamelodi, RSA. Pre-deceased by sister Nyami (Dan Qeqe) of New Brighton, RSA.

George was born in Native West Township (Johannesburg) on August 2, 1928. Brilliant and determined, he attended Fort Hare University, graduated medical school at the University of the Witwatersrand (1955).

George was a political exile of apartheid South Africa and fled to England in 1962. There he practised medicine and attained his Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, FRCS (Ed) certification in 1970. He then immigrated to Canada in 1971 and he earned his Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, FRCS(C) certification in 1973.

Passionately devoted to the care of his patients, Dr. Mbolekwa conducted a vigorous orthopaedic surgery practise in Brantford from 1973 until 1992 when he was overcome by mobility challenges. He was a giant in the community.

George was a life-long member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, the Ontario Medical Association and the New York Academy of Sciences. He was also a member of the Brantford Air Force Club and the Brantford Gunners Club.

George had a passion for politics, believed in the value of a good education and enjoyed watching rugby and WWF wrestling. His convivial spirit, engaging humour, and joie de vivre will be missed.

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Teddy at The Ajax-Pickering Hospital after a brief illness.

Teddy was born in Wartime Saskatchewan and came to Toronto with her family in 1935. She graduated from St. Michael's School of Nursing in 1951 and worked her entire career there, retiring in 1989 as Head Nurse in the 5th floor Maternity Ward. "Miss Mac" was loved by her nursing staff.

Teddy was an avid curler and a member of the High Park Curling Club. She was also in the RCAF Air Force Reserve as a nursing assistant (400 Squadron).

Teddy was the daughter of Michael and Verna McNamara (both deceased).

She was predeceased in 2013 by both her brother James (Delores) and Jaci Johnston (Jim). She is survived by her sisters Marie Coburn (Shane) and Marg Flint (Bruce-deceased) and brother Paul McNamara (Bonnie). Teddy was the aunt of 16, great aunt of 28 and great-great aunt of 6. Teddy will also be missed by her longtime friends as well.

The family will receive friends at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Rd, Ajax, 905 428-8488, on Thursday February 27th from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 27th at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church (21 Bayly Street East, Ajax) at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

March 27, 1926 - February 22, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Sheldon O'Gorman in his 88th year on February 22, 2014 at Toronto East General Hospital.

His wife Aileen (Miller) of 63 years and other loved ones by his side.

He forged a trail of laughter, generosity, compassion and wisdom. Much loved father of Dennis (Lorraine) and Dove. Cherished grandfather of Nadine (Mike), Sheena, Serena (Chris) and Tricia. Playful great- grandfather to Lily, Jack, Matthew and Jenny. Loved by all in the Miller and O'Gorman families.

Sheldon was an active member of AA for more than 51 years and will be greatly missed.

Memorial Mass to be held Saturday, March 8th at 1 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1810 Queen St. E., Toronto. Reception to follow in church hall.

Donations to be made to Covenant House, 20 Gerrard St. E., Toronto.

Peacefully in his sleep, Joe passed away on the morning of Saturday February 22, 2014.

Survived by his loving family: wife Tecla (Tina), son Alex (Joan), daughter Maria, sisters Anna Troiani (the late Gerardo), Rina Farrell (Denny), brother Alfredo (Pia) and the late Guido (Pat). 

Grandfather to Jackie, Nick, Jessie, and Tim and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Joe came to Canada from Navelli, Italy and was a longtime resident of both Toronto and Manotick, working in the construction industry.

A short reception will be held on Saturday, March 1st from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME– Family Centre – 28 Old Kingston Road, Pickering Village in Ajax, Ontario.

Interment to follow at 12:30pm at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens, Ajax.

Beloved husband of Italia Pirocchi. Loving father to Gabriella (Tullio), Robert (Katherine) and Frank (Loren). Proud grandfather to Jesse, Angela, Daryl, Brian, Michael, Nicole and Brandon and their families.

RICHES, Joan Gail (nee LITTLEWOOD) -

July 1, 1941 - February 22, 2014

Joan left this world peacefully on February 22, 2104 at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg surrounded by her devoted sons.

Joan was predeceased by her husband David, parents Leila and Berry Littlewood, sisters-in-law Joan Bentley and Ann McIntyre, and brother- in-law Tony Breman.

Joan will be lovingly remembered by her sons John Riches (partner Lisa), Matthew Riches (wife Julie) and Steven Riches (partner Scott); sister Shaunda Hanlon (husband Patrick), Leila Breman, brother John Littlewood (wife Dana).

Nana Book will also be fondly thought of by grandsons Harrison, Eric and Benjamin Riches and their mother Nicola and many nieces and nephews in both the Riches and Littlewood families.

After spending her formative years in Manitoba and graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Masters in Social Work, Joan moved to Toronto where she embarked on a successful social work career while raising her three beloved sons.

Joan enjoyed volunteering including long term involvement with Goodwill Industries in addition to supporting many other worthwhile causes.

Joan spent her later years in Winnipeg, being closer to her Littlewood family.

Mum will be fondly remembered for her brilliant mind, great sense of humour, compassion, generosity and her indomitable spirit.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Winnipeg.  The family asks that all attending wear a splash of colour or something that sparkles in honour of Joan.

Many thanks to the caring fifth floor staff at Grace General Hospital for the kindness, humour and compassion in mum's final days. A special thank you to Jocelyn Ablang for providing mum care and companionship in recent years.
