Beloved husband of Irene (nee Robitaille). Dear Father of Isabelle Anderson (Bob) of Courtice and Brian Paquette of Whitby.

Loving Grandfather of Jennifer Saunders (Peter Saunders), Melanie Anderson (Jeff Kennedy) and Great Grandfather of Caitie and Lauren Saunders and Joshua Anderson.

Beloved son of the late John and Mulvina Paquette.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the McEACHNIE FAMILY CENTRE, 20 Church St., Ajax, on Sunday, January 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 81.

Otto is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Edith.

Otto will continue to live on through the hearts and spirts of his children and spouses Ron and Sue, Steve and Amrita and Susan and Sean. He leaves behind grandchildren Krista, Jordan, Ryan, David, Jason, and Annika, as well as great- grandchildren Mikenna and Brayden.

Otto was the founder of Roth Diamond Tools Limited in 1965.

He was a dedicated follower of his children and grandchildren's sporting endeavours by being their greatest supporter through attending and sponsoring most of their events. He will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held for the family of Otto.

Donations may be made to Parkinson Society Canada in lieu of flowers.

Smiley_MatthewBorn April 18, 1934 in Aldershot, Ontario. Died peacefully December 28, 2014 at Creek Way Village in Burlington, Ontario.

Matthew, the son of Hugh and Mary Smiley (nee Kelly), grew up on his family farm with his siblings Margaret Ann (Gord Willmes), Joseph (Anne), Robert (Betty), Marilyn (Joe Petrarca), Michael (Gaile) and Claire (Dave Grand).

Matthew was a loyal and dedicated employee for over 30 years to Royal Oak Dairy, having previously owned and operated a Texaco station. He started a family with wife of 9 years Peggy Doreen Rahm (1935-1965), and wife of 36 years Glenna Marlene Wright (1939-2003).

Matthew took immense pride in building his legacy. In his eyes, there was no greater accomplishment than his nine children: Kelly (Mark Rowe), Mark, Blake, Teresa (Mike Patrick), Julie, Shawn (John Moning), Rachel (Mike Blayney), Sarah (Mark Sawchyn) and Naomi (Kaitlyn Hourigan).

Proud grandfather to Matthew, Erin (John), Bridget (Shane), Stephanie (Greg), Jake, Steven, Jacob, Alison, Michelle (Mat), Sara (Rich), Shawn, Victoria, Sam, Hannah and Ben. Devoted great-grandfather to Arabella, John, Siena, Madison, Marissa and Mackenzie. Matthew was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the nurses, staff and volunteers at Carpenter Hospice who provided our family support and ensured Matthew's comfort.

Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Brant Street (at Blairholm), Burlington on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment.

Donations may be made to The Carpenter Hospice or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Born January 3, 1918, departed this world on December 28, 2014. Ethel lived a blessed and full life. 

Predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, William Lewis Snow. Ethel was a wonderful mother to Margaret and her husband Doug Lyman. Proud grandmother to Cindy, Lori and Jamie. Great-grandmother to Allyshia, Colton, Austin, Shane, Arista, Cory, Bella and great-great-grandmother to Harmonie. Dear sister of Hilda, Colleen, Gerald and James and the late Margaret, Harry, Rollie, William and Irene. 

Ethel now resides in Heaven and is at peace, she is now reunited with her mom, dad and her loved ones who have passed on before her.

Funeral Mass at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 92 Steeles Ave. W., on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 9:30 a.m.

Surrounded by her family Margaret peacefully passed away at Woodhall Park Nursing Home on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in her 89th year.

Predeceased by her husband William, son Donald and daughter Anne. Beloved Mother to Sherry (Bill) Finley, Ken (Brenda), and Keith (Marilyn) and daughter in law Linda.

Devoted and loving Grandmother to Matthew, Shanlyn, Rachel, Allison, Kyle, Brittany, Scott, Emily and Jack. Great Grandmother to Christopher, Abbi, Callum and Ellie. Margaret is survived by her sister Elsie Joyce. She will be sadly missed by many family and friends.

Margaret was a dedicated volunteer at the Collingwood Hospital for over 20 years. Interment to take place in the spring.

Arrangements are entrusted to ANDREWS COMMUNITY FUNERAL CENTRE, 905-456-8190.

With deep sadness we announce the death of our beloved husband and father Stuart Malcolm Thomas on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at OTMH in Oakville.

Stu was lovingly devoted to his wife Donna (Mahyle) and his sons Greg and Mike. Much loved by sister Angela O'Donoghue, niece Alison, nephew Brian, brother-in-law Gary Mahyle, sister-in-law Terri and nephews Chris and Kevin.

Stu was born in Wales, UK, May 19, 1946 and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. Stu received much fulfillment from his successful career as an IT consultant (Ford Canada, IBM Canada, Bell Canada, Amdahl and most recently Great West Life Company). But his greatest joy and fulfillment was derived from his involvement with the athletes of Special Olympics. He generously gave his time, knowledge, skill, expertise and leadership to empower every athlete to reach personal goals.

Stu will be sadly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.

Funeral services at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca St., Oakville on Sunday, January 4 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at the gym. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church or Special Olympics Ontario - Oakville.

Our beloved mother, sister and friend passed away suddenly in the comfort of her own home in Mississauga, ON.

Paula was born in Montreal, QC, to John and the late Lisa Malick.

She married Don Thorpe in 1980 and together had two wonderful children Amanda and Jeffery.

Paula was a dear and loving sister to Audrey (Jack Emrich) and Janice (Andre D'Anjou). Family and friends were Paula's passion and she will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was a credit manager for 30 years, author and conference speaker. 

Service will be held in Mississauga, ON, on Friday, January 2nd.

Beloved wife of the late Frank Tutt for 63 years.

An active volunteer with the Peel Children's Aid Society for eight years and avid knitter who knit many hats for cancer patients at the Credit Valley Hospital.

Our family would like to thank the St. Elizabeth's nursing staff, Dr. Tiffany Bursey and Dr. Amie Davis for their loving care and support.

Service will be held in Oakville on Saturday, January 3rdr.

Walker_GwenPassed away quietly in Burlington on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 86.

Gwen was the beloved wife of Doug for 59 years. She was the loving mother of Jeff (Kim), Bruce, Lynda (Mike) and the cherished grandmother of Jessica.

Gwen was known for her boundless energy, her lust for life, her laughter, and her love for her family.

Born in Ottawa, the youngest of nine children, Gwen was a graduate of Ottawa Civic Hospital as a Registered Nurse (voted Class President). She later got married, moved to Toronto and worked at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital, becoming an assistant head nurse. After moving to Burlington and raising her three children, she returned to nursing at the Caroline Medical Group.

Gwen will also be remembered for her leadership and commitment to various groups at Appleby United Church. As well, she was active with the local chapter of the Engineers' Wives (President), Burlington Ladies Probus group, multiple service organizations, bridge clubs, and gourmet groups.

Private cremation to take place. A Service to celebrate Gwen’s life will be held in Burlington on Friday, January 2nd.

Algie_ShirleyIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum in her 97th year on December 27, 2014.

She is the last of the five Beston sisters and one brother.

Wife of Loch (2001), wonderful Mum to Michele (Bob) and Clive (Julie). Loved Nana of Michael, Christie, Derek, Brendan, and Jimmy.

She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews in England.

We would like to thank the wonderful second floor nursing staff of the Wenleigh LTC Nursing Home for their excellent care of Mum these past three years. She enjoyed her time there with many friends and their lovely cat Timmy.

Joe died on December 27, 2014 in his 92nd year at St. Joseph's Health Centre after his will to live gave way to his body's need for peace.

Predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Teresa and all of his siblings, Tony, Lia, Adrianna and Armando, he will be joining them now for some boisterous polenta and wine celebrations.  He will be forever remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Elena and daughters Teresa Black, Lisa, Renata, grandchildren Jenna and Spencer. 

He will always be remembered for his vivid WWII stories of fighting in North Africa, his passion for gardening, his love of cooking for a multitude of friends and family and his ability to tango.  He was quite the character and even at the end, despite progressing dementia, the nursing staff could see his jovial nature. 

To all of those angels who work on 6G at St. Joseph's Health Centre, many a heartfelt thank you goes out to you for showing compassion and caring not only to Joe, but to all of his family. In particular, Dr. Gutman, Betty and all the nurses. 

Funeral Service will be held in Etobicoke, on Tuesday December 30th. Cremation to follow.

Dear brother of Jean (Doug) McCabe and Judy (Ross) Milton.  He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends and his beloved pet Bailey.

Passed away peacefully early on December 27, 2014 at the Runnymede Healthcare Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

She was in her eighty-eighth year.  Angeline is survived by Dusan (Dick), her loving husband of sixty-three years, her son, Val (Pamela), her daughter, Sandra (Kevin Albrecht), her four cherished grandchildren, Shanda, Carlyn, McKenzie and Dean, and seven nieces and nephews and their families. Angeline's beloved younger brother, Richard Mateljan (Mary) of Oakville, Ontario, predeceased her by four months.  Angeline was born on April 4, 1927, in Huntsville, Ontario.

Elegant, gracious, private and selfless, Angeline was the strength behind all those she loved. Nurturing her family was her first and constant priority and she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. She most adored being Baba to her four grandchildren, who were her joy. Throughout her life Angeline preferred to remain anonymous in all her charitable endeavours.  

The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Runnymede Healthcare Centre who looked after Angeline with care for four years and six months.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Croatia, 7 Croatia Street, Toronto, followed by an entombment in Toronto.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dellmar (Dell, Dellie) Brown, of Toronto, announces the passing of their dear brother and cherished friend after a brief illness.

Survived by brothers Jim (Annemarie) Brown and Ken (Laura) Brown and his sister, Nancy (Roger) Lefebvre. Also survived by nephews and niece Ryan, Matt and Travis Brown, Shelly (Ian) Zellenrath and Jeff Lefebvre, as well as great-nephews and nieces Ethan and Callie Zellenrath and Rojr and Zoe Lefebvre.

Predeceased by his parents, John and Lorien Brown of Mt. Brydges.

Dellie will be greatly missed by his art students and his many longtime friends who were his second family, especially Ingrid Riets, Grant Reimer and Boyd Pelley. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Dell's life will be held on January 15, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Boyd's house, 1 Patricia Drive, Toronto.

At Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Calvin Calder of Beaverton.

Survived by his daughters Helen, Jennifer, Dana, Trish, their mother Margaret and their grandchildren. Son of the late Clarke Calder (1970) and Vera (Williams) Calder (1976).

Calvin practiced law for many years in Beaverton and Creemore. He was a sports enthusiast enjoying swimming, curling and tennis in later years. He always lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his many friends.

Memorial Service will be held in Beaverton on Tuesday, December 30th.

WWII Veteran

November 12, 1922 - December 27, 2014

Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario on December 27, 2014 in his 93rd year.

Loving husband to Margaret Black Cameron (Hewitt). Devoted father to Morag Willcox (Cameron) and Ewen Cameron. Proud granddad to Michael, Christine and Tanya and great-granddad to Owen and Brooklyn. Jack graduated with First Class Honours from Glasgow University after serving in the Royal Navy (1941-1946).

Jack retired from the University of Montreal and previously worked at Wellcome Foundation in England and Connaught Laboratories in Toronto.

He was also a consultant with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and various other international organizations. Jack loved to to spend time in his garden, especially with his roses. He was a master gardener and longtime member of the North York Horticultural and Historical Societies.

Service will be held in Newmarket, on Friday, January 2nd.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Hollandview Trail Retirement Community in Aurora and the wonderful team at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
