GLANCY, Pennie (D.S.) Glancy - Obituary | Print |

GLANCY, Pennie (D.S.)

November 21, 1927 - September 23, 2014

Pennie fought and won many great challenges in her life, including cancer. She passed away on Tuesday after the disease returned last spring.

She arrived in Toronto, a teenager from Temagami, Ontario. She survived the culture shock of city life with aplomb and married Kenneth Glancy (deceased, 1983). She was proud, protective and loving to five children and their spouses: Michael and Brigid Glancy, Patricia and John Busch-Andersen, Noelle and Mark Parsons, Nicole and Bob Leaper and Sarah and John Kucan.

A wonderful role model and a great force in raising her adored 11 grandchildren: Harry and Amelia Glancy; Caitlin, Madison and Ben Busch-Andersen; Hayley, McKenzie and Campbell Parsons; Matthew Leaper; and Mia and Ryan Kucan. Her grandchildren have strong, fond memories and learned to "go ask Grandma" for wise and loving, yet tough advice. Pennie will be greatly missed by so many including cousin Sylvia.

While raising her family Pennie took the brave step to join Goldfarb Consultants, worked her way up to International Field Director. Her children were as proud of her as she of them Pennie enjoyed life to the fullest, had a great talent for staying in the present. Muskoka was a favourite place to relax, she was thrilled to be there this summer. Her services will be full of laughter, music and colour, just like her.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Pennie on Saturday, September 27th at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church (24 Cheritan Avenue, Toronto) followed by interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation in Hamilton or The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington.
