It is with great sadness we announce that Robert passed peacefully with his family by his side on September 1, 2014.

He is predeceased by his father, Gregory, and his mother, Maria.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 32 years, Anne, and their four boys, Steven, John, Jeffrey and Adrian, whom he loved unconditionally, and who loved him with all their hearts in return.

He will also be grieved by his sister-in-law, Olya, his nephews, Andrew and Peter and his mother-in-law, Katherine. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4 Bellwoods Avenue.

Beloved son of Johanna Sorensen. Loving brother of Geri (Darryl) Lalach, Lauri Shaw, Kristi Shaw and Jennifer Sorensen. Devoted uncle of Michelle, Kelly, Ryan, Stephanie, Tavish, Riley, Steven and Katie. Also sadly missed by his father Doug Shaw.

Mark will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins and his cherished companion, his dog "Max."

Funeral service will be held in Georgetown on Sunday, September 14th.

Thompson_GraceAfter a brief illness Grace was reunited with her best friend and life mate Jack, on Monday September 1, 2014 at the age of 89.

Loving mother of Melanie, grandmother of Brooke (Phil), and mother in law of Pam.

Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Jessie Patterson, her son Rick, brothers Robert, Alistair, Jim, Richard and sisters Audrey and Ruth. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Burlington, and a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. Grace was full of life and loved to laugh, and she along with her husband Jack, had spent many happy years at the cottage with family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation in Burlington on Friday September 5th.

Donations in memory of Grace to the Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Vivian_WilliamIt is with great sadness that the Family of Dr. William (Bill) Hartley Vivian announces his peaceful passing at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 1, 2014 in his 83rd year.

He was predeceased by his brother Norm and his sisters Mary and Ruth.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife M. Doreen, sons William David (Gail) and Gary James (Jean) and daughter Deborah Lynn (Paul). He will be truly missed and still loved by his grandchildren Katie, Tyler, Gregory, Krista (Jason), Adam (Kristen), Sarah, Jennifer and Laura and great grandchildren Joseph, Isabelle, Eleanor and Audrey.

Bill will be fondly remembered by his siblings Helen, Lloyd, Don and Ken.

Bill was a member of Nelson United Church and had amazing spiritual faith. He did not die alone and is not alone.  Bill and his family gratefully appreciate the kindness and spiritual support from Rev. Jessie Jansen, a very good friend for over 50 years.

The Family would like to recognize Dr. Keith Comeau who proved to be a very caring and good friend. He provided great guidance and comfort to Bill and his family over the past 8 months.  Staff in the ICU at Joseph Brant also provided great emotional and supportive care.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Burlington on Friday, September 5th.

He will be remembered by his sisters-in-law Hildegard (Kiho) and Mechtilde (Werner) and brother-in-law Claus (Brigitte). He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friend, Fritz, in Germany and his close friends George and Nancy, Teresa, Ghislaine, Jack, Martha and children and all of his neighbours at YCC 24.

Heartfelt thanks to Karl's very dedicated and caring physician, Dr. Hannah Zuckermann.

Iain George Bell, cherished son of Linda and Ian McGinnis, loving brother to Robert (Daniela) and proud uncle of Chase and Aiden. Iain was born in Scotland on October 4, 1969 and immigrated to Canada on April 24, 1970.

For his second career, Iain graduated from Sheridan College, July 2013 with his degree in Social Work to embark on a new phase in his life. Iain will be sorely missed by his many friends and family both in Scotland and Canada.

Service will be held in Mississauga on Saturday, September 6th.

Frank Bragg of the Bruce Peninsula at the age of 66.

Frank is survived by his sister Mary Lou (Todd) Trushinski of Kitchener, nieces Amanda Jesso and Elizabeth Trushinski, nephew Dave Shute, great-nieces Emily Shute, Jaxan Jesso and Elizabeth Van Damme and great-nephews Cody, Dillon and Tyson Jesso.

Predeceased by his parents John and Mildred Bragg.

Burd_MichelinaIt is with profound pain and sadness that we announce the passing of Michelina Burd (nee Gualtieri). On Sunday, August 31, 2014, our beloved Michelina left us far too soon at the age of 54.

Devoted wife of Greg Burd, loving and dedicated mother to Kassandra and Johnny Burd.

She is the first born and cherished daughter of John and Linda Gualtieri. Also left to grieve her passing are her sisters Tonina (Sal) Barbera, Linda Gualtieri and Anna Gualtieri (Mark Bechtold). Amazing and special aunt to Alexandria, Gloria, Eve, Lucas, Tracy, David, Michael and Jaxon.

Loving daughter-in-law of Anita and the late Allison Burd. Sister-in-law to Gail (Danny) Roy, Pat Auger, Jeff (Lezlie) Burd. She will also be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Welcoming her with open arms are her infant nephew Lucas and sister-in-law Nancy Burd.

Michelina took great joy and pride in being a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, and put that love toward her career at Toronto SickKids Hospital. In her later years, she relocated to be closer to home at the Niagara Health System.

A special thank you to the nurses at Juravinski Hospital, Ward C3, specifically Lindsay and Corina who showed such compassion.

A Funeral Service will be held in Niagara Falls on Thursday. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.

In memory of Michelina, memorial contributions may be made to Toronto SickKids Hospital, and would be appreciated by the family.

Our hearts are broken, we have lost our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.
We take comfort in knowing that those who die in grace, go no further from us than God, and God is very near.

At age 92, Jeanne died peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014 after a brief illness.

I, Jennifer, am grateful that I had the opportunity to hold her as she passed on. Jeanne remained clear-minded to the end, asking about her much-loved grandchildren, Jay and Christianne, and her caring son-in-law Milan Then.

Predeceased by her beloved James and her five siblings, Constant, Zoe, Raymonde, Dennis and Firmin; Jeanne is survived by a host of nieces and nephews with many of whom she maintained a close relationship throughout her long life.

Jeanne loved life and fought many battles to hold on to it. She took great joy in the love of family, friends, and all forms of beauty.

She often expressed gratitude to the kind caregivers who helped her live a full life to the end.

A service to celebrate Jeanne's life will be held in Toronto on Saturday, September 6th.

She will be sadly missed by her dearest friend Jenny Howarth. Betty will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her wonderful sense of humour and her devout loyalty to and love for her family and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel at Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Rd., Oshawa, on Monday, September 8th at 11 a.m. followed by a private family interment and a Celebration of Life with refreshments at 1 p.m. at the Avalon Lounge, Port Whitby Marina, 301 Watson St. West, Whitby.

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Gillman on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the age of eighty nine, at Sunnybrook Hospital Palliative Care in Toronto.

She was born in Montreal, moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec, when she married and years later moved to Toronto. Devoted wife of the late Sam Gillman for fifty-eight years. Loving mother of Celia (Ron Kobric), Lynn (Robert Kaminsky) and Zachary (Lisa Stern). Beloved grandmother of Kira, Bram, Rachel and Deena. Helen is predeceased by her sisters, Lily Selick and Ruth Rosenthal and brothers, Dave, Lionel and Paul Goodman. She is survived by her many nieces, nephews and great friends.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Helen's caregivers, Donna, Eden and Onnette.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., Montreal, on Tuesday, September 2nd at 10 a.m. Shiva in Sherbrooke, Ottawa and Toronto from Wednesday to Monday morning.

Peacefully in Burlington on August 31, 2014 in her 86th year.

Predeceased by her husband Richard "Dick". Loving mother of Scott (Carol), Steven, Debbie Strang (Allan), Brad (Anne). She will be lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Sadly missed by her best friends Betty-Jane and Bill Cook. Survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Predeceased by grandson Tyson Andrew McKay, daughters- in-law Gayle Gordon and Betty Gordon, step-mother Gloria Nightingale.

Barbara was a devoted mother who happily raised her family in the Bronte area she loved so much. While she worked part-time in a ladieswear store, Barbara also found time to volunteer at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital.

In later years, Barbara enjoyed learning Tai Chi and spending time with her ever-growing family. 

Service will be held in Burlington on Thursday, September 4th. Cremation has taken place.

Donations in Barbara's memory to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

KITCHING, Francis Louis (Frank) -

April 15, 1950 - August 31, 2014

Frank died peacefully at home on August 31, 2014.

Beloved son of Gladys Kitching (nee Mowry) and the late Kenneth Kitching (2004). Dear brother of Margaret Ann.

Frank was a respected and creative musician who worked in advertising.

Frank leaves behind many family and friends. He is especially missed by his cat family: Bub, Poupatella, Bella and Raggedy Ann.

A funeral service will be held at The Anglican Church of St. Jude, Wexford (10 Howarth Avenue, Scarborough) on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
