Johanna beloved wife of the late Chris and predeceased by daughter Christina. 

Loving mother to Bill and Lynda Ruhl, Peggy and Will Burke, Bert Ruhl, and Christopher and Claire Ruhl.  Grandmother to nine grandchildren; Zachary, Myles, Melinda, Amber, Jonathan, Jeremy, Monique, Breanne and Alise.

Predeceased by sister Trudy and brother Harry.  Sadly missed by siblings; Francis Albers, Cory VanShindle, Willie VanStrien and Mary Albers. 

Funeral Service to be held in Uxbridge on Thursday, July 17th.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 13, 2014 at the age of 83.

Magdalena will be greatly missed by her husband Franz Scherdan. She was the dear daughter of the late Michael and Katharina Strauss. Cherished mother/sister of Christine Pacione. Dear sister of the late Johann Strauss.

Loved by her son-in-law Peter Pacione.

Dear grandmother and great-grandmother to Michael (Leslie), Katie (Dan), Sean (Patricia), Chase, Mavis and Amelia. She will be missed by her family and friends.

A woman who lit up a room with her energy and glow. Our deep love goes with you Leni/Teti.

You may be gone from our lives but you will never be gone from our hearts.

A memorial service will be held in Scarborough on Thursday, July 17th.

Passed away peacefully July 13, 2014 surrounded by family.

He was born February 11, 1927 in St. John's, NL, and at the age of 18 moved to Toronto, where he met his wife of 43 years Anne (predeceased 1994).

William raised three successful sons and several foster children, retired at age 65 and, following the passing of his beloved wife, moved to the Barrie area, where he enjoyed his remaining years.

He is survived by children Bill, Guy, Gary and spouses Brenda, Cathy and Julie and deeply missed by grandchildren Alexis, Samantha, Heather, Nicole, Jessica and Nathaniel, great- grandchildren Spencer and Sophia, as well as his good friend Rita.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 20th at Bluffers Park Restaurant, 7 Brimley Road South, Scarborough, at 1 p.m. or Thursday, July 24th.

On July 12, 2014 - beloved husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 92.

For 68 years Alfred was the devoted husband of his beloved Teeny (Christina), who passed away just a month ago. Loving mother to Michael (Dawn) of Toronto and Paul (Lynne) of Morpeth. Fondly remembered and loved by grandchildren Shelley (Charles), Julie, Carolyn, Sheldon (Laurie) and Ryan Babin, and great- granddaughters Elizabeth and Audrey Todd and Lily and Ryla Babin. Predeceased by dear sisters Eva and Loretta and dear brothers Arthur and Alderice. Babin, as he preferred to be called, was born in Moncton, NB.

He joined the Army in 1939 and in fall of 1941 was sent to Hong Kong to help defend against the invading Japanese Imperial Army. Captured on December 25, 1941, he endured nearly 4 years as a POW under brutal and inhuman conditions. After liberation he stayed in the Army as a musician in military bands, and retired honourably in 1971.

Babin had a sharp mind and a quick wit, and was a gentle and generous man despite the hardships he endured in the war. He was an enthusiastic participant in family gatherings, always bringing stories, mementos or pictures to share about his childhood, wartime, his travels with the military band or his marriage to his beloved Teeny.

Babin loved a good meal in a restaurant (especially if they served crème brûlée), had an impressive grasp of current events, and was an adopter of new technology, recently taking up emailing with his children and grandchildren. He was adored by his family and his presence at the dinner table will be greatly missed.

Jo-Anne (Carroll) Bilodeau, 64, of Burlington, Ontario, passed away July 12, 2014.

She was born in Iroquois Falls, Ontario on November 15, 1949 to Roy and Alice Carroll (predeceased). Jo graduated from Oshawa General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1971.

he went on to deliver babies at OGH (Lakeridge Health) for the next 35+ years.

ctively involved in the Ontario Nurses Association, she was president of her local union for several years during that time.

pon retirement, she worked with Comcare (Rivera) administering immunizations, training personal support workers and developing flu clinics. Jo continued to nurse those within her Walker’s Square condo community, and friends alike. Jo was married to Denis Bilodeau (predeceased) and is survived by her children, Maureen & Jason Jarvis, and Lisa Bilodeau & Peter Mitges.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaiya and Keanan Jarvis and by her siblings, Alan Carroll and Nancy Bone. Jo was a very active member of her church community at The Meeting House Burlington, and will be remembered both by home church friends and fellow volunteers. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan (her blood ran blue).

Attending multiple sports and school functions, plus lazy movie afternoons, with her grandchildren, were the highlight of her schedule. Also important in her hobby life were Soduko puzzles, knitting and word games (including grammar correction!).

Memorial will be held in Burlington on Friday, July 18th.

Allan, beloved husband of the late Frances who he has joined exactly three years later.

Proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Loving husband of Carol for 46 years, passed away quietly at home in his sleep on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from colon cancer.

Ron was the loving father of Laura (Ken Howorth) and Mark (Julie). Proud grandfather of Chantelle, Joshua, Mackenzie and Parker.

Dear brother of Midge Douglas of Cape Breton. Ron was extremely hardworking, yet still found time for his family and many hobbies, including ballroom dancing, golf and model trains.

We would like to thank Nurse Kathy Frederick from the Community Care Access Centre and Dr. Sanderlingham, Oncology, at Rouge Valley Health - Centenary for their care and compassion.

A private interment will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Maureen Coppinger, 84, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after her third courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Toronto.

Born April 21, 1930 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, Maureen is predeceased by her dear mother Annie Harte, her late husband of 51 years, James (Jimmy) Coppinger and her Uncles Christie, Jimmy and Paddy Harte. Maureen is survived by her 3 sons, John (Julie), Patrick (Emilie), Michael and her two angel granddaughters, Christine and Francesca.

On Saturday, July 12, 2014, in her 99th year, Julia passed away peacefully at Burloak Long Term Care Facility.

Predeceased by her husband George Furdos (2006), she is survived by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by many friends.

Julia was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan on November 15, 1915, daughter of the late Frank and Juli Savanya. At the age of 5 Julia left Canada and moved back to Hungary but returned at the age of 18.

In 1938 she married George Furdos and worked at various jobs before going into farming in 1946. In 1970 they sold the farm, built a new home and started a greenhouse business which they operated until 1982.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in Burlington on Saturday, August 16th.

Devoted husband to Maureen for 59 years, died peacefully at home on July 12th, 2014 surrounded by family and friends.

George was the loving father of five children, Bill (Mary Lou), Stephen (Zoe), George (predeceased) (Sylvie), Nancy (David) and Leila (Kevin). Proud Papa of Michael (Alison), Meghan, Melissa, Spencer, Theresa, Billy, Patrick, Carson, Breanna, David (Katie), George III, Clare, Joseph, John, Charlie, Peter, Jack, Stephen, Maureen, Luke, Olivia, Liam and Mary. Proud Great-Papa of Aiden, Brayden and Andrew.

George had a forty year career at the Royal Bank before retiring in 1990.

He loved to spend time working in his beautiful gardens, annual trips to Florida with Maureen and family gatherings at their home in Mississauga.

She came back to Canada in 2003 and enjoyed 2 "Grand World Voyage" in 2010 and 2012.

KILPATRICK, Austin James 'Jim' -

Jim died peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Toronto General Hospital.

Beloved husband of Linda and loving father of Conaire, much loved son of Maureen and predeceased father Joseph and dear brother of Sean, Barry and Nora. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his niece Honor. Jim was a Typographer by trade and was passionate about the printing trade.

Jim was an avid cyclist and is remembered by many in his early career for riding 60 kilometers or more to work every day. In July 1987 Jim received a life-saving liver transplant at Toronto General Hospital after becoming gravely ill at the age of 33. His recovery was very strong and he returned home in September of that same year and went on to live a healthy, productive and happy life as a successful transplant recipient for the past 28 years thanks chiefly to the success of TGH's transplant surgery and after-care program.

His family will always be grateful and beholden to all those who helped Jim live a life that encompassed a happy marriage, fatherhood and a successful career.  

Service in Toronto on Saturday, July 19th.

KLAVKALNS, Lynda Dawn - 

Klavkalns_LyndaBorn October 15, 1945, beloved Mother and friend passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 in her 68th year of a sudden illness.

Predeceased by her parents Don & Ethel Arthurs, her beloved husband Harvey Klavkalns and son Bradley. Lynda is survived by her Daughter Tracy and her husband Dave, Her Son Robert, Daughter in law Sandra, Her Brother Robert and his wife Lorna.

Loving Grandma of Taryn, Brooklyn and Kurtis. Aunt of Shannon and her husband Paul, Stephanie and her husband Kevan. Fondly remembered by the younger crew: Liam, Rihanna, Khloe Di Passio, Brodie, Keegan, Lincoln, Storm & Phoenix Arthurs.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Georgetown Hospital doctors and nurses and a special thank you to Kim Robinson.

Lynda was the apple of her Mothers eye and the twinkle in her fathers and a much beloved big sister to Robert. Lynda enjoyed family get togethers and loved to make people smile.

She was a delight and a treasure to all who had the chance to meet her.

Service will be held Georgetown, ON, on Wednesday, July 16th

She was taken far too soon and will be greatly missed by all.

LEMIRE, James Raymond 'Marty' -

Known to all as Marty, at his home on Saturday, July 12, 2014 after a short but brave battle with cancer. With him were his devoted wife, Kaaren and his loving daughter Andrea. 

Marty is survived by his stepsons, Frank (Natasha) and Marc (Katie) and their children and his brothers William and Lawrence (Suzanne). 

Marty’s dedicated career as a teacher, coach and department head at De La Salle College 'Oaklands', Toronto spanned four decades.  His retirement enabled him to enjoy such passions as bridge, horseshoes, boating and cheering on his beloved Blue Jays. 

At Marty’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held in Lindsay on Sunday, August 24th.

Memorial donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, whose remarkable staff eased the progression of his illness enabling family and friends to spend happy times with him.
