R.N. Branson Hospital It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear mother at home on Friday, January 3, 2014.

Dearest mother of Ross (Aileen Larkin). Wonderful grandmother of Colin and Anna. Survived by her sister Marian, brothers Dougal (Wendy), Allan (Sylvia), John, Andrew (Blanka) and James (Francesca).

Irene will also be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Angus John and Mary McDonell of Williamstown, Ontario.

Service in Toronto on Wednesday, January 15th.

Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 3, 2014.

He was reunited with his Lord in his 95th year after a brief illness at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 68 years, Leona Moore, and their three children. A most dedicated and loving father to Carol (Tony), Peter (Janie), Nancy (Colin and grandson Cameron). Burt will also be missed by his loving extended family and many wonderful friends.

Coming to Uxbridge in 1945, he and Leona established Moore Hardware in downtown Uxbridge.

Burt dedicated his life to his church, Trinity United, and to the community in which he lived. His bond with Uxbridge and all his friends was something you could feel just by meeting him.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In his memory, donations may be made to the Diabetes Society. 

Our family circle has been broken, a link gone from our chain: but though we are parted for a while, we know we’ll meet again.

Jim slipped away from us quietly and calmly, in the early evening of January 3, 2014.

True friend, partner and husband of Phyllis, dear brother of Heather Wilson (Terry) and devoted uncle of Dawn, Jeffrey and his wife Stacey. Jim was also the very, very proud great-uncle of Norah, Noelle, Leyton and Miller Wilson. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Gavin (2000) and Doris (2013).

Jim leaves behind many close friendships developed through 33 years in the photographic industry (23 years with Black Photo Corp., 10 years with Vistek Ltd.) and 23 years as a devout curling member of the Weston Golf and Country Club.

Our family wishes to thank everyone involved with his care at the Carlo Fidani Cancer Centre and the Credit Valley Hospital.

A private gathering will be held at a later date to honour Jim's life and to reminisce over the many good times we have shared.

Memorial donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Carlo Fidani Cancer Centre, the Toronto Humane Society or the charity of your choice.

Don will be deeply missed by his many close friends.

On January 3, 2014, in his 88th year, Hugh passed away peacefully in Etobicoke General Hospital.

A Royal Navy Veteran, he served his country at the end of WWII on HMS Indomitable. Hugh emigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1952. He was a Bell "Pioneer" with 35 years of service at his retirement. Hugh was a "sportsman" - a pro tennis player, semi-pro footballer and an avid Celtic fan.

A celebration of Hugh's life was held in Weston on January 5th.

He will be treasured always by his friends and neighbours.

Although his heart belonged to Glasgow, he loved the opportunities that Canada gave him.

Hugh's motto will remain in our hearts: "Little things mean a lot."

July 17, 1967 - January 3, 2014

Peacefully with family and friends at her side at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Friday, January 3, 2014.

Beloved and adored wife of David Wright. Nora will be greatly missed by her mother, Anne Doran and her late father, James Doran and by her mother and father-in-law, Ann and John Wright. Nora was a loving sister to her brother, Jim Doran and sister-in-law Emilia and cherished aunt to Tomas and Julia. Dear sister-in-law to Sharon Wright and Elaine Wright (Steven Young). Admired and loved by many family and friends across Canada, Ireland, England and the United States. Nora was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and following much treatment overcame this cancer.

In 2008, as a result of an appendectomy, Nora was diagnosed with a rare abdominal cancer. Extensive treatment was given to Nora by the doctors and staff of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Mount Sinai, North York General Hospital and Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont in Montreal.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at all four hospitals and especially Dr. Ko and Julie Diemart of the Odette Cancer Centre, and the nurses on the Odette Chemotherapy Team and the Palliative Care Unit 1KE at Sunnybrook.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Benedict's Church, 2194 Kipling Avenue, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow. Nora was passionate about giving back and supporting continued efforts to finding a cure for cancer by participating in seven annual Weekend to Conquer Cancer Walks across Toronto.

Mom was born in Romania and immigrated to Canada in 1948. Mom and Dad resided in Windsor from 1948 to 1983 and then moved to Oakville to be close to their daughter and her family. Mom's greatest joy was cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. How we will miss her homemade soups. She was also an exceptional baker and she loved to share her "goodies" with family and friends. We will miss her dearly but she will live in our hearts forever.

We are very grateful to the staff at Post Inn Village for their loving care of Mom for the past 2 years. 

Funeral Service will be held in Oakview on Tuesday, January 7th.

Surrounded by family at Mackenzie Health Hospital, Richmond Hill on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the age of 86 years.

Norman Bennett, husband of the late Maureen and dear father of Jo-Anne (Rob Simpson), and Ron Bennett (Linda).

Proud grandfather of Kalie (Matt), Shauna, Natasha, Andre and great-grandfather of Cassidy and Shelby Lynn.

Norman will be sadly missed by his brothers, sister, nieces and nephews in both Northern Ireland and Canada.

Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of The THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 3 p.m. with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Randall, The Oak Ridges Dialysis Unit and The Mackenzie Health Centre A Wing for their loving care.

(1937 - 2014)

It is with sad hearts the family announces the passing of our Dad on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014.

Father to Lissa, Chris, Laura, and Grandpa to Josh, Emma, Madison, and Chelsea. Brother of the late Jo Anne Hutney and brother-in-law of Gerry. Uncle to Michael and Sarah. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Josephine Bergin.

In keeping with Dad's wishes, burial will be a private immediate family service.

A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Mary's Church, 2458 Concession Road 4, Loretto, Achill, 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 6th, 2014 followed by a time of fellowship and refreshment at St. James Church, Colgan.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Arthritis Society, Ontario Division, 394 University Avenue, Suite 1700, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 1E6 would be greatly appreciated.
