Passed away peacefully at William Osler Health Centre in Etobicoke, on August 10, 2014 with his children by his side.

John was born in Port Hope, Ontario, on October 13, 1936. He will be fondly remembered by his children Kerry Turner (Bill), Brad Hozack, and Greer Hozack (Derek McCallum) and his five grandchildren Jake and Sam Turner, and Kate, Nora and Maggie McCallum. John was the husband of Gayle Hozack (McDonald).

A voracious reader and avid storyteller, he will be remembered most for his sense of humour.

Many thanks for the care and comfort provided by the staff at Westside Long Term Care Home over the past several years.

A private family interment ceremony will be held in the coming weeks.

Lois, beloved wife of the late Norm.

Dear mother of Jamie (Cathie), John (Miranda) and Peter (Pauline). Loving grandmother of Matthew, Emily, Sean, Katie, Claire, Brendan and Will. She will be fondly remembered by a myriad of friends and family members. Lois, while diminutive in stature was huge in spirit. She remained vibrant and youthful to the end. Nothing made her happier than being around her grandchildren whom she adored. Nothing gave her more sorrow than the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The family would like to thank Dr.'s Robson, Rachlis, Down and Chow and the wonderful oncology and palliative care staff at North York General Hospital. 

Service will be held in Toronto on Friday, August 15th.

Passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, ON, on Sunday, August 10, 2014. John, in his 91st year.

Survived by his wife Ruth of 41 years as well as his sister Joyce and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, mother and brother George.

John was born and brought up in Scarborough (Toronto), after marriage moved to Brampton and following retirement, moved to Lindsay.  John worked for many years at Honeywell, then as part owner of a leather manufacturing company and at a marina on Jack's Lake near Apsley, ON.

At his request, his body was donated to medical science to the University of Toronto, Department of Anatomy.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.

Following a long battle passed peacefully at Dorothy Ley Hospice on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the age of 72.

Beloved husband of Margaret for 45 years.

Cherished father of Karen (Dan) and Lesley. Adored grandfather of Grant, Lincoln and Jaxon.

Loving brother to Paul (Rita) and Michele (Rick). Ron spent his professional career as a photographer.

He partnered with Colin Darg and together they successfully ran McKenzie/Darg Photography for 45 years.

He was a pioneering cottager since 1969, enjoying time spent with family and friends on Lake Manitouwaba. 

Celebration of Life Service will be held in Mississauga on Saturday, August 16th.

Peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on August 10, 2014 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital in her 100th year.

Beloved wife of the late Malcolm (Mac) Noble, predeceased by her dear daughter Mildred (Millie) Brooks and siblings Ethel, Jim, Johnny, May and Ronald.

Beloved Mum of Ian (Barb). Loving sister of Joe (Anges) of Scotland. Admired and cherished by her four granddaughters Martha, Sarah (Richard), Jennifer (Ron), Kelly (Dusty). Will be missed by eight great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life Taylor, Spencer, Emelia, Matthew, Ryan, Emma, Macklyn, and Cai.

Mildred was a former resident of St. Luke's Close, Burlington, proudly living independently until October 2013. Mildred worked into her 80th year and enjoyed traveling, golf, and shopping, always proudly telling anyone that she met "you know I'm 99."

He was the son of the late James Patrick O'Connell and Annie Yeomans.

Survived by his brother Harold and predeceased by his brothers George, Benson and Frederick.

Brother Martin was a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools of Ontario for 76 years.

Visitation will take place at La Salle Manor, 61 Fairfax Crescent, Toronto, ON on Wednesday, August 13th, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and the Vigil Service will be held at 7.00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at La Salle Manor.

 Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, Ontario.

Proud and loving grandfather to Anjelica, Isabella, Brooke and Joseph. Giuseppe will forever be in the hearts of his family in Italy and his family and friends in Toronto.

Passed away peacefully at Newmarket Health Centre on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at age 93.

He will be greatly missed by Dorothy, his wife of 67 years, his children Heather (deceased), Judy (Chris), Bob and Jim (Lauren), his treasured grandchildren Alexandra, Daniel and Victoria, his sister-in-law Maureen, his nieces and nephews and cousins on both sides of the Atlantic. Cliff grew up in North Toronto.

He joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and proudly served as Lieutenant with the Royal Navy during World War II, participating in many actions, including D-Day.

On his return, he embarked on a long and successful advertising career in Toronto and Montreal. He and Dorothy built their own house in Pefferlaw and had many happy years in their home on the river.

They moved to Dorothy's home town of Newmarket in 2000.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of 3 North at NHC for their loving care during Cliff's 5 year stay.

At Cliff's request, there will not be a service, but instead a celebration of his life on Sunday, August 24th at 2 p.m. at the Optimist's Club, 55 Forhan Ave. in Newmarket.

Please come and raise a toast to Cliff and share stories of your friendship with him.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joyce on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the age of 85.

Lovingly remembered by daughter Donna and husband Garry; granddaughter Amy and husband Jason; and great- grandson James. Daughter Denise and husband Paul; granddaughter Samantha and fiancée Callan; grandson Elliott and wife Jessica. Joyce is predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend Gordon of 64 years; parents Edward and Florence; brothers Ronald, Ralph and Murray; sister Eileen and brother-in-law Jack.

Survived by her brother Russell and sister-in-law Mary Reekie. She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Joyce will still live on in the hearts and minds of the loving family she left behind. And we take comfort knowing that she has been reunited with Gordon.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing, surrounded by family, of Margaret Elizabeth (Peggy) Reid Serson.

Born December 12, 1923 in Havana, Cuba, she left us August 10, 2014 after a fulfilling and active life.

by her two loving husbands, Edwin Charles Reid (1985) and Paul Horne Serson (2006), beloved mother of Michael, Becky (Glenn Thompson), Margaret (Bruce Ketcheson), John (Ellen McKelvie) and devoted grandmother of Kevin, Reid, Rachel, Keith, Sarah and James.

Peggy was an indomitable spirit who left a lasting impression on all who met her. Although she excelled in many areas of her life, she was particularly passionate about her family and the arts. Generous to family and friends, she was the moral and educational compass to her children and grandchildren through whom her legacy will continue forever.

A memorial service will be held in Toronto on Sunday, September 21st. Interment will take place in New Brunswick, next summer at a date to be arranged.

Son of the late Fred White and Elizabeth Roy. Son-in-law of the late Harold and Rose Fowler, brother to the late Doris Boucher, Alvin, Harold, Arele and Raymond White. Survived by his sister Rita Briand of Montreal as well as his nieces Claudette Chamberlain (late husband Maurice) and Paulette Roy (husband Bobby) and his many nieces and nephews of New Brunswick.

He will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Joyce Fowler, Joan and Clarke Perry, Pat Passfield (late husband Ken), Ron and Viola Fowler, Wayne Fowler, Sharon and Wayne DeMayer, Gere McConnell and the late Helen McConnell. Beloved uncle and great uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Abraham_MichelleLoving Daughter of Joel and Dawn, Sister of Glenn and Julian, Sister-in-Law of Nicola, and Phupo of Adina and Adam passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2014, with her Mother, Father, Brothers and Sister-in-Law by her side at Juravinski Hospital.

After four and half years of being cancer free, Michelle had a relapse of Leukemia in December of 2013.  Michelle knew she would have to fight again, and prepared herself for another battle with a strong and courageous will.

She was well known by many as a person with a Loving and Caring Heart, Strong Spirit and a Great Sense of Humour.

Michelle always created a special place in the hearts of everyone she met - with fond and memorable moments that would live on forever.

Michelle has left us in this world but gone to a better place to live Eternally.

Lt. George Albert Ackehurst of the 22nd Royal Regiment, beloved husband and best friend to wife Elaine Ackehurst, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

George was predeceased by his loving son Robert Ackehurst in March of 2014. George is survived by his son Bill and wife Joan of Innisfil, Ontario. George was also a loving grandfather to Allison. George was born and raised in Toronto. George met and married Elaine on September 4, 1943 and they shared their love of music and dance together for 71 years. A veteran of the Second World War, George served overseas and then returned to Toronto, and eventually settled in Thornhill. George had a successful and wonderful life.

George had several advertising and sales careers. He retired from the College of Family Physicians as Director of Communications in 1987. George had a love for sports and inspired many young people with his love of Hockey.

George was the co-founder of the Thornhill Church Hockey League. George was an active member and devoted worker at Holy Trinity Church in Thornhill for many years. George served as the people's Warden.

Former Employee of Dominion Helicopter Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Saturday, August 9, 2014, Murray Grant Barons, Kleinburg, in his 84th year.

Dear son of the late Russell and Annie Barons.

Survived by loving sister Helen Barons. Will be sadly missed by dear friends Sylvia Masters and family, Cliff Love, Kent Family, Margaret Payne, Bruce Wise, and Mary Ivanyshyn. 

Funeral service will be held in Bolton on Wednesday, August 13th.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

BURNS, May (nee Statham) -

Burns_MayPassed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Wynfield Long Term Care.

Predeceased by her loving husband Keith Burns, her son Ken, and her siblings Allen, Edith, Lee, Verna, Claude and Alfred.

Cherished mother of Marilyn (Paul), Robert (Janet), Alfred (Deborah), Sylvia and John (Darlene).

She will be dearly missed by her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday, August 13th from 12 - 2pm at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King Street E., Oshawa), with a service to be held in the chapel at 2pm.

Following the service, interment will take place at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.
