Wiegand PhilipWIEGAND, Philip (Phip) Lee  - April 1928 - August 2018

On August 12, 2018 Philip passed away at his home at Christie Gardens.

Beloved husband of Elayne, his wife of 59 years and much loved father to his sons, Michael and Derek (Gail).

Treasured by his grandchildren, Steve (Mathilde), Jill (Kehl), Billy, Ellen and his two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Emily.

He also leaves his twin sister, Pam (Norman), brother, Fred (Helen), and brother-in-law, Allan (Yvonne).

Philip attended Upper Canada College where he won many medals in track and field.

The American draft for the Korean War caught up with him in 1950 and he was sent to Japan, where he became fluent in Japanese. He then started his work career at Crawley Films in Ottawa where he met and married Elayne Hunt.

They were long-time members of First Unitarian Congregation in Toronto.

Philip was a soft-spoken gentleman, but elegant in speech, dress and comportment. He also possessed a delectable sense of humour and will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Unitarian Church, (175 St. Clair Avenue West) on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2 p.m.
